Massive security in place as Mathura prepares for ‘Shri Krishna Janmotsav'
With pilgrims coming from across the country, security agencies have stepped up vigilance, especially around major temples — Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex, Banke Bihari Temple and Dwarkadheesh Temple — expected to be the main hubs of activity.
Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar said, "The district has been strategically divided into multiple sectors and zones to maintain strict surveillance and crowd control. Over 3,000 police personnel have been mobilised, supported by the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), which is actively monitoring social media to avoid any untoward incidents.
We hope that pilgrims have a hassle-free visit."
Preparations have also been made for VIP and emergency movement, with the newly inspected helipad at the Veterinary College grounds ready for use. CM Yogi Adityanath is likely to be in Mathura for two days for the event, officials said.
District magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh said visitor numbers are expected to surpass last year's 4.2 million, which will require enhanced security and logistical support.
