The Auburn Tigers will look to repeat as SEC champions this season, but will need to do so with a new-look roster.
Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl successfully swayed guard Tahaad Pettiford away from the NBA draft, doing so by building a strong rotation around him with transfer portal pieces. The new-look Auburn Tigers are poised to win its third SEC regular season crown since 2022 and its third SEC Tournament title since 2019. Wednesday, the Tigers learned their path to their goals as the SEC revealed the conference schedule for each of its 16 member programs.
This season, Auburn will face Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss in a home-and-home series. Auburn went 4-1 against those foes in 2024-25, going 2-1 at home and 2-0 on the road. Auburn took down Alabama in Tuscaloosa, 94-85, on Feb. 15 before the Crimson Tide got revenge on the Tigers on March 8 at Neville Arena, 93-91 in overtime. Auburn smashed Ole Miss in Oxford, 92-82, with the Rebels playing the Tigers much closer near the end of the regular season, but fell 62-57. Auburn faced Arkansas once last season, defeating the Razorbacks, 67-60, at Neville Arena in February.
Auburn will play a rather tame home schedule by hosting Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt inside Neville Arena, and will face challenges by playing Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia on the road. Auburn will get a shot at defending national champion Florida, who ended a long home-winning streak last season on Feb. 8, and again crushed the Tigers' dreams in the Final Four, at Exactech Arena in Gainesville.

2026 5-star CB predicted to land with Texas A&M over Oregon Texas A&M is on the precipice of landing one of the top athletes in the 2026 recruiting class, as five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington is set to make his decision between Oregon and the Aggies on Thursday morning/afternoon. Texas A&M has been the frontrunner for quite some time, but things have gotten interesting over the past month. After official visits to USC, Alabama, and Oregon, Texas A&M defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson have worked overtime to sell the program's vision, feeling that Arrington is on the path to becoming a star cornerback over the next four years, and is a perfect fit in the SEC due to his versatility as a standout receiver on offense. On Tuesday, Arrington spoke to On3's Josh Newberg about his upcoming decision, noting that both coaching staffs have a plan in place focused on developing his star potential. However, according to On3 Oregon reporter Justin Hopkins, the Aggies are still the favorites to land Arrington's commitment on Thursday. Again, credit to Coach Mike Elko, Aristide, and Peterson for laying the groundwork early, which should pay off in less than 24 hours. Arrington showed off his skills in ten games during his 2024 junior season. Arrington recorded 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception while reeling in 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense. According to On3, Arrington is currently the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1-ranked athlete, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. Last weekend, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted 15 elite prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. Over the past five days, the Aggies landed commitments from three-star athlete Kaeden Johnson, four-star offensive lineman Samuel Roseborough, and on Tuesday, four-star running back KJ Edwards chose the Aggies over Texas in one of the more shocking moves of the summer. All three prospects visited last weekend, resulting in commitments, so it's fair to say that Elko and his staff have built an impressive foundation that led to three of the program's early 2026 commits, led by four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, shutting down their recruitment over the last two weeks. Ahead of 2026 five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington's commitment on Thursday, one of the top linebacker prospects in the cycle, four-star DaQuives Beck, took his official visit to Texas A&M last weekend, and has announced his commitment date, which will take place on Tuesday, July 1. After receiving an early prediction to land with Texas A&M, it's also notable that Beck is teammates with KJ Edwards at Carthage High School, and will choose between Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and the Aggies.
