Kaizer Chiefs need to strengthen these THREE positions

Kaizer Chiefs aren't a million miles away from becoming a top-eight side again. Where should the Nedbank Cup champions strengthen?
Every man and his dog knows that Chiefs are in the market to find a reliable goal-getter. The problem? This knowledge will drive prices up.
Dillan Solomons and Reeve Frosler have done an adequate job on the right side of defence, but the Glamour Boys want to upgrade.
It's been a while since Amakhosi had a high-volume midfield maestro they could rely on to dictate the tempo. Kingsley Michael is still only 25, but the Nigerian midfield orchestrator has already been around the block. His club career has seen him enjoy stints across Europe. First in Italy with Bologna, Perugia, Cremonese and Reggina. Then, spells with SV Ried and DSV Leoben in Austria. Now he's on the books of Monastir in Tunisia. Surprisingly, he's only earned one cap for Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Done deal: Kaizer Chiefs sign teen sensation Luke Baartman after PSL declares him a free agent

Done deal Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of teenager Luke Baartman from Cape Town Spurs on a free transfer. Photo: Ryan Wilkisky/BackpagePix 'He is an exciting young talent that we've been monitoring for the past few seasons both at Club level, in the Bayhill Cup – where he was voted player of the tournament – and the U-17 national team that played at AFCON. 'We're thrilled to welcome Luke to our team,' the club's Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr said. Baartman had earlier on Tuesday been declared a free agent by the PSL's by the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber after the club's attempt to sign him for free had been contested by Cape Town Spurs. 'We believe he will bring valuable versatility, playing both as a centre-forward and a winger. We look forward to seeing him in action soon.' At just 19 years old, striker Baartman is regarded as one of the most exciting young footballers in South Africa. He boasts impressive technical skills, including excellent ball control, dribbling, and first touch. While primarily a centre-forward, Baartman is adaptable and can perform in various attacking roles. While at Spurs, he was often deployed as an inside forward, winger, and advanced playmaker. Despite still being a teenager, he has been praised for his maturity and decision-making on the field. Off the field, he's shown a lot of dedication to improving his game, something the hierarchy at Naturena will appreciate in a player so young. Unfortunately, despite all of his talents, he still needs to put a lot of time in the gym, as his slight frame might struggle in the top-flight. Because he's still so young, he has plenty of time to become a more all-rounded footballer. IOL Sport

Kaizer Chiefs starting XI vs Richards Bay FC

Kaizer Chiefs have announced their starting line-up for Tuesday's Betway Premiership clash against Richards Bay FC. Kick-off at FNB Stadium is at 19:30. Notably, coach Nasreddine Nabi is still missing on the Amakhosi bench, meaning Ben Youssef will again lead the Soweto giants alongside Cedric Kaze. New signings Etiosa Ighodaro and Asanele Velebayi are also not in the matchday squad, and so is Flavio Silva. Of course, both Ighodaro and Silva will need to have their paperwork sorted before making their debuts for Chiefs. Now, back to the starting line-up – the coaches have kept the core of the team that started the current campaign. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo starts on the bench alongside Gaston Sirino and rising star Naledi Hlongwane. Kaizer Chiefs injury update: Three key defenders

Kaizer Chiefs have given the latest update on three of their defenders ahead of the Richards Bay match. Amakhosi host the Natal Rich Boys at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening in a Betway Premiership clash. With head coach Nasreddine Nabi still in his home country over a family emergency, his assistant Khalil Ben Youssef has taken over. The young coach has given an update on Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley and Zita Kwiniak. 'I think with Dortley, he keeps working with our medical staff. They did a very good job with him,' Ben Youssef told the media. 'Soon, I think few weeks, he will be back with us, he and Given [Msimango] will start training sessions with the team. I think last season, it was tough for us when we finished the season. We finished, let me say the last three games without a defender on the bench. Given was injured, Zitha [Kwinika] was injured, and Dortley was injured, then we promoted Aiden [McCarthy] to play the last two games. Kaizer Chiefs are yet to concede this season, having kept two clean sheets so far. 'This season we start with Given and Dortley out, for sure, when they will be back, they will help the team with the experience they have, and also with confidence. They will fight for this position now. I think Aiden with [Inacio] Miguel, they perform very well, Zitha is coming, he is ready. 'Now they will be back, and it's confidence. And we know when we have a lot of players, the level of the players begins to increase,' Ben Youssef concluded. Kaizer Chiefs have signed eight players so far this season.
