The Commissioner's Cup is similar to the NBA's In-Season Tournament, as it's an opportunity to spice up the regular season while offering monetary rewards to players.
The Fever received half a million dollars to be split amongst the players for winning the Commissioner's Cup. With 11 players on the roster, players would be looking at a roughly $45,000 bonus, along with a $5,000 cryptocurrency bonus.

Where Clark's point resides is the fact that if the 8-8 Fever were to win the WNBA Finals, players would receive just a $20,000 bonus — not even half of the Commissioner's Cup bonus.
One is a history-defining win that a team works all their careers for, while the other is an in-season tournament — the different magnitudes of these events do not necessarily line up with the monetary bonus the players receive.

The WNBA's average base player salary is $102,249, and though Clark is one of the WNBA's top players, and is certainly the most popular, her salary is just $76,066 as she is still on her rookie deal.

Perhaps luckily for Clark and the rest of the league, the WNBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) expires after this season, meaning that some different terms for salaries and bonuses may be discussed moving forward.
With Clark's superstardom, she may have about as much pull as anyone in the league when it comes to league-wide changes, so her message on the live stream to commissioner Engelbert might not fall on deaf ears.

Red Panda fractured wrist in scary fall at WNBA Commissioner's Cup final
More information has emerged about the scary fall Rong Niu, better known as Red Panda, took during Tuesday night's WNBA Commissioner's Cup final. In a statement shared by Niu's team to ESPN's Pat McAfee, her injury was revealed as a wrist fracture. 'I'm pissed,' she said after practice Wednesday. 'I'm not even gonna lie about it, I'm really upset about it.' Advertisement Jones has been named an All-Star in five of the past seven seasons, including 2024. Earning a sixth All-Star nod was the 'one personal goal' Jones had for herself this season. The 2024 WNBA Finals MVP was on track to make her All-Star aspirations a reality. Jones said the lengthy home stand should be good for her recovery considering swelling has been one of her biggest issues with the sprain. She also welcomed the chance for some normalcy, despite the setback. 'I can see my dogs every day and they make me happy,' Jones said. 'I can do my regular walks and stuff like that and just kind of get into that routine of just when I'm showing up to the gym, when I'm doing rehab, when I'm doing conditioning and all that stuff.' About two weeks into her rehab process, Jones said she doesn't have a target date to return to play. But she did say she's feeling better. 'I'm in a good spot,' she said. 'Just making sure that I'm as close to 100 percent as possible before I get back on the court and yeah, just take it from there.'
