Gil Junger's new film 10 Things I Hate About Dating will be inspired by Moliere's 1666 play, The Misanthrope.
Big news for fans of the beloved teen classic 10 Things I Hate About You! A sequel to the 1999 rom-com, which starred the late Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, is officially in the works. Director Gil Junger, who is behind the classic hit, recently revealed that a new film titled 10 Things I Hate About Dating is currently being developed. And that's not all. This film also marks the beginning of a trilogy.
In a conversation with People, the 70-year-old filmmaker, who is currently writing the screenplay with writer Naya Elle James, said, '10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film. We're developing it right now." It is worth noting that the film has not been greenlit just yet, Gil sounded hopeful about bringing it to life. As per the outlet, the new film will be inspired by Moliere's 1666 play, The Misanthrope.
He also shared that he plans to make the film the first in a trilogy, with the two other instalments being potentially titled 10 Things I Hate About Marriage and 10 Things I Hate About Kids. The director also teased that he, Naya Elle James and producer Andrew Lazar have some 'good ideas" for the trilogy.
Although it is still not clear how much of the storyline of the OG film will play a part in the new films, director Gil said he would love to see some familiar faces. He said, 'I would love to work with Julia again." The 70-year-old director also mentioned that he dearly misses Heath Ledger. When asked if his new film could potentially be a nod to the late actor, Gil added, 'I think that's a beautiful idea, and the answer is now going to be yes. He deserves to be loved."
The film 10 Things I Hate About You was a modern reimagining of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. It featured Julia Stiles as Kat Stratford, a high-achieving, anti-social high school kid whose life takes a turn when Patrick Verona, played by Heath Ledger, enters her life. Other than the two, the teen rom-com also featured Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cameron James and Larisa Oleynik as Bianca Stratford.
The film helped launch the careers of Julia, Heath and Joseph and was a box-office success. 10 Things I Hate About You has grown into a timeless fan favourite and was also developed into a TV series by the same name. The '90s teen romantic comedy has also inspired a Broadway musical, which is currently being developed by Lena Dunham and pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen.

Miley Cyrus reveals how she hid her substance abuse money from her accountant
Los Angeles: Pop icon Miley Cyrus is getting candid about her past drug use. She also shared how she escaped the radar of her accountant when it came to narcotics money. The singer-songwriter, 32, took a deep dive into where she was mentally for each of her albums like 'Bangerz and Endless Summer Vacation', in an episode of The Ringer's 'Every Single Album' podcast, reports 'People' magazine. During their discussion of her 2015 album, 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz', she revealed where some of her money went without her accountant's knowledge. 'The drugs were the biggest cost, which to hide those from my accountant, we called them vintage clothes', she said. 'And so she would get these checks. That happens on touring all the time'. As per 'People', Miley said over time her accountant would wonder about the "vintage clothes" costs but she always made sure to keep her purchases discreet. 'And every time she saw me, she'd be like, 'Where's that, like, $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs', she said. 'We just really want to protect it. It's really delicate. The fabric got to take care of it. So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year'. Continuing to reflect on 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz', the 'We Can't Stop' singer admitted she's grateful for how far she's come since that period in her life. 'I'm so glad I survived that time in my life', she said. "I would definitely not encourage anyone else to go this hard, but the fact that I got through it, I'm very glad I got to do it'. The singer has been open about her sobriety throughout the passing years. In a 2017 interview she said she was 'evolving' after giving up substance abuse.

Prince Harry has no 'real friends': Meghan Markle's husband is 'desperately lonely', spends time with bodyguards
Prince Harry may be living in a $14 million Italian-style mansion in California with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, but life behind closed doors is reportedly far from perfect for the Duke of Sussex. According to NewsNation, which cited unnamed sources close to the royal, Prince Harry is feeling 'desperately lonely,' cut off from long-time friends and family, and struggling to form close relationships in the US. 'He doesn't really have any real friends in the area except for polo star Nacho Figueras, and Nacho travels constantly for matches," a friend told the outlet. 'He spends a lot of his time chilling with his bodyguards." Though Harry remains close to a few old friends from the UK, such as Guy Pelly and Mark Dyer, the time difference and distance have made regular contact difficult. 'There's no one else for him to hang out with besides Nacho, Meghan, and the children," the source added. The report also said that since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Harry's social circle has grown smaller. 'It's hard to forge deep friendships when you're older especially when you're wary of people leaking things to the press," one insider noted. A friend even compared Harry's current situation to that of his great-great-uncle Edward VIII, who gave up the throne for love and lived abroad. 'It's like history is repeating itself," the friend said. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle reportedly wishes Harry could move on. 'Meghan wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they've built together,' a source told *People* magazine. Prince Harry's Life in California Compared to Edward VIII's Exile Prince Harry's current situation is drawing comparisons to that of his great-great-uncle, Edward VIII, who abdicated the British throne to marry Wallis Simpson and spent the rest of his life abroad, largely distanced from the royal family. A source told NewsNation, 'It's like history is repeating itself,' referring to Harry's estrangement from King Charles and Prince William and his life away from royal duties in the United States. However, unlike Edward and Wallis, Harry and Meghan have remained in the public eye through media projects, including Netflix shows, books, and public appearances. The Duke of Sussex is said to be struggling with loneliness, having left behind most of his social circle in the UK. Though still close to long-time friends like Guy Pelly and Mark Dyer—who also have American wives—they are based in Texas and Virginia, making regular meetings rare. 'It's harder to forge deep friendships with people when you're older, especially if you're wary they may speak to the press,' a friend was quoted as saying. Harry is also reportedly upset about delays in securing British passports for his children, Archie and Lilibet. According to reports, he even sought advice from his uncle, Earl Spencer, about possibly adopting his late mother Princess Diana's surname. While he ultimately did not go with 'Spencer', the Sussexes are said to have dropped 'Mountbatten-Windsor' and now quietly use 'Sussex' as their family name.
