Actor Gary Busey pleads guilty to sex crime
The actor has pleaded guilty to a criminal sexual contact charge relating to an incident at the Monster Mania horror film convention in New Jersey in 2022.
During a virtual court hearing, the 81-year-old actor, who has appeared in films including Point Break and Lethal Weapon, admitted to inappropriately touching a woman on 13 August 2022.
This plea follows the judge's rejection of Busey's motion to dismiss the indictment.
"It was not an accidental touching," Busey told the judge during the hearing, according to the Daily News.
The incident occurred at the Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel in Cherry Hill between 12 and 14 August 2022.
The Rookie of the Year actor was accused of inappropriately touching at least three women while posing for photos with fans at the event. One woman alleged that he tried to undo her bra.
Busey denied the allegations at the time.
He previously told TMZ that he doesn't "carry any regrets" because "nothing happened".
"It took less than 10 seconds and they left," he claimed. "Then they made up a story that I assaulted them sexually."
He added, "It was all false."
In a 2022 Facebook post, the organisers of the annual event stated that the actor had been "removed from the convention and instructed not to return" after receiving at least one complaint.
Busey was initially charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact, and one count of harassment. However, three of these charges were dropped on Thursday as part of a plea agreement.
His sentencing is currently scheduled for 18 September.

WWE SummerSlam Night 2 closes out WWE SummerSlam 2025 weekend with a bang, ending the two-night extravaganza with a stacked card on Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. After a busy Night 1, the momentum only ramps up more for the second half of the festivities. Sunday's card features six title matches, with all but two featuring extra stipulations. There will be no DQs and no count-outs in that one, and if Valkyria loses, she'll be unable to ever challenge for the title again. Men's Intercontinental Champion Dominick Mysterio also be defends his belt against former champ AJ Styles after weeks of shenanigans on "WWE Raw." Then, rounding out the chaos, United States Champion Solo Sikoa will be locked in a Steel Cage for the latest chapter in his rivalry with Jacob Fatu. Yet all of these matches will surely pale in comparison to the WWE Tag Team title match. It will be Tables, Ladders and Chairs when the champions, The Wyatt Sicks, look to overcome five other teams. Diddy's Ex-Girlfriend Writes Letter to Judge in Support of Bail Before Sentencing: ‘I Do Not View Mr. Combs as a Danger'
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ex-girlfriend Virginia 'Gina' Huynh, who was referred to as 'Victim-3' in his indictment, has written a letter to the judge presiding over his federal case in support of his release on bail before his sentencing in October. Huynh was referenced several times in the government's indictment of Combs, though she never ended up testifying in his trial. Huynh's note was included in a letter sent on Sunday by Combs' legal team, who claim that the government argued that Combs was 'violent toward Virginia 'Gina' Huynh.' Huynh wrote that 'he has not been violent for many years, and he has been committed to being a father first.' By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior. In its indictment, the government accused Combs of using 'force, threats of force, and coercion, to cause victims, including but not limited to three female victims' — referred to as Victim-1, Victim-2 and Victim-3 — 'to engage in commercial sex acts. In connection with the commercial sex acts, Combs provided the victims with, among other things, monetary payments, career opportunities, and payments of rent and housing expenses.' During Combs' trial, according to CNN, his former assistant George Kaplan testified that he once saw Combs throwing apples at Huynh in his Miami home. Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura, a key witness in the case, also testified that Combs was unfaithful to her by dating Gina while they were together. Combs is currently incarcerated while awaiting his sentencing, set for October 3, on two counts of transportation for prostitution. His legal team has revived its attempts to get Combs out of prison before sentencing and has been engaged in a back-and-forth with the government, arguing over his eligibility for bail.
