Social media reacts to Alabama flipping 4-star quarterback from Big 12 program

Yahoo23-06-2025
On Tuesday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide received some surprise news when 2026 quarterback prospect Jett Thomalla announced that he was flipping his commitment to the program from the Iowa State Cyclones.
A commitment to Iowa State since April of 2025, Thomalla, a four-star prospect, is currently considered as the nation's No. 232 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, as well as the No. 16 quarterback nationally in the class out of Nebraska. There, Thomalla attends Millard South High School, and also ranks as the state's top 2026 recruit regardless of position.

This past season as a junior, Thomalla also left his mark on the football field for Millard South by completing 69.6% of passes for 3,664 yards and a 47:3 TD:INT ratio across 12 games.
Following the commitment of Thomalla to Alabama, the Crimson Tide have likely now secured their quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, and in the process, have brought their number of current commits in the cycle to seven total.
Here are some reactions on social media Tuesday to Thomalla officially flipping his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama.

Texas A&M OC Collin Klein describes 'fine line' when managing star running back's workload

Texas A&M's 2025 running back room will be led by senior Le'Veon Moss, who is by far one of the most valuable players on the roster. Before his season-ending injury eight games into the 2024 season, Moss led the SEC in rushing, averaging over six yards per carry. After announcing his return early in the offseason, coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein knew that keeping him helping going into the preseason was one of the top priorities. Over the last 11 preseason practices, Moss has participated in drills, including Tuesday's sessions, but did not appear in last Saturday's scrimmage. This has been the plan all along, as the staff chose to keep Moss sidelined during the 15 spring practices, making his return to the field during the Aggies' first preseason practice on July 30. Back in May, during Elko's appearance at the Dallas A&M Club, the second-year head coach stated that Moss would not take any live hits during the preseason period "until we play games," which was further reiterated by Collin Klein during Tuesday's post-practice Q&A. "It's a fine line — I do not think there is a perfect formula," Klein stated regarding Moss's snap workload management. "I think coach (Mike Elko) is doing a great job of trying to walk that line as best as we can. "The best thing about Lev is, he about chews through any bid you put in his mouth. So he wants to go and just get after it. But he has been doing a great job." Before sustaining his season-ending right knee injury, which required surgery in the loss to South Carolina, Moss had his sights set on crossing the century mark in rushing, already gaining 765 yards and ten touchdowns. Before the Aggies take on UTSA on August 30, Texas A&M will hold nine more preseason practices, and while Saturday's scrimmage won't be repeated, a simulated "mock game" will be held in Kyle Field next Thursday. Ohio State basketball announces complete nonconference schedule

Though we all got a pretty good look at a lot of the Ohio State men's basketball nonconference schedule for the 2025-2026 season, the Buckeyes announced the complete slate via social media on Wednesday. Ohio State breaks the seal on the season at home against IU Indy on Nov. 3 and has two more home games on Nov. 7 (Purdue Fort Wayne) and Nov. 11 (Appalachian State) before welcoming Notre Dame to Value City Arena on Nov. 16 as a part of a home-and-home. All told, the Buckeyes play five Power Five opponents, with the games at home against the Fighting Irish, and contests away from the Schottenstein Center against Pitt on the road and at neutral sites against West Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia. It's a daunting nonconference slate, one the Buckeyes hope will prepare them to be battle tested for a postseason run in March. Here's a look at the complete nonconference schedule for the Ohio State men's basketball team for the 2025-2026 season. The Big Ten schedule will be announced at a later date, but the conference has already unveiled the opponents Ohio State will play in conference. The Buckeyes will play Michigan, Penn State, and Wisconsin in a home-and-home, and all other teams just once. Regardless of which QB starts for Notre Dame, you have to trust Mike Denbrock's decision

Year 2 has always proved to be the best for offenses under Mike Denbrock, we will see the same this year for the Irish. ☘️History of rankings for each team Denbrock was an OC for points per game, yards per play, and effiency (BD = Before Denbrock) When Notre Dame lured LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock to South Bend, it was seen as a major win for head coach Marcus Freeman and his program. The consensus is that he is one of the best offensive gurus in the country, if not the best, and has a tough decision ahead of him with CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey. The most recent rumors have trended to the 'older' Minchey, but as of today, no starter has been announced. This isn't the first time he's entered a season with a question mark surrounding the position, as in 2022 with the Tigers, Denbrock had to make a choice between Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier. It's pretty safe to say that he made the right choice, as Daniels had a massive season and ultimately won the Heisman Trophy before going to the Washington Commanders as the No. 2 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft. That decision alone should give Notre Dame fans plenty of trust in who Denbrock will choose. There are plenty of pro's and con's for both Carr and Minchey, but the Irish's offensive coordinator has shown that the choice is in very good hands.
