Mel B shares emotional birthday message to Geri Halliwell despite wedding snub

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Spice Girls icon Mel B took to social media to wish her pal Geri Halliwell a happy birthday after the latter missed her London wedding to Rory McPhee back in July
Mel B shared a sweet message to fellow Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, on her birthday after Ginger Spice was unable to attend the star's recent wedding in London. Scary Spice tied the knot with long-term partner, Rory McPhee, at an intimate ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in London last month.

While fans were eager to spot fellow Spice Girls in attendance, only Emma Bunton was photographed at the event. Geri was noticeably absent as Mel tied the knot with Rory. Geri also chose not to post any well-wishes to Mel B on social media at the time, adding further fuel to the fire on their rift.

And now, weeks after her nuptials, Mel quashed rumours of a feud as she wished Geri a happy birthday on social media. It comes after Mel B's 'spiritual' Moroccan wedding with non traditional dress.

Along with a throwback photo of the two leaving an event, Mel B wrote: "Happy birthday ginge!" along with a few partying face emojis.
In the picture, Ginger Spice threw up peace signs and smiled at the camera and Mel looked stunning as she also smiled for the cameras.

Emma shared a few snaps onto her page, including one from a music video shoot, a selfie and a gorgeous wedding picture. She wrote: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend @gerihalliwellhorner! Love you to bits. Have the most gorgeous day."
Posh Spice opted for a post on her Stories and said: "Happy birthday @gerihalliwellhorner!! Kisses @emmaleebunton xx," as she posted a recent snap of the three at a party.

Mel C joined in on the birthday wishes and posted a carousel of throwback and recent pictures of the group, writing: "Happy Birthday darling @gerihalliwellhorner, our Ginger Spice. Have an amazing day, love you to pieces."
There had been rumours of a feud, with it being said that Geri was offended by Mel B after the singer claimed the pair slept together while the Spice Girls were still topping the charts.
And when the Look At Me star swerved Scary's nuptials in July, fans were convinced things were still awkward between the pair.

While Emma attended Mel's wedding in London last month, neither Geri, Victoria or Mel C showed their face. Victoria and Mel C sent their apologies, saying they had a prior engagement, which they couldn't get out of. However, Geri stayed silent.
But, a source said to the Mirror that there was no feud between the Friendship Never Ends stars, adding that Geri, Mel C and Victoria simply had other commitments.
"There's no snub, the girls are all on friendly terms with one another, but it's no secret that Geri is busy with Christian at Formula One and Victoria is extremely busy with her fashion brand," they said.

BBC Strictly Come Dancing star makes prediction over show's future

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Vincent Simone, the 46-year-old dancer who graced the BBC 's Saturday night staple Strictly Come Dancing from 2006 to 2012, anticipates that the show will continue to air for at least another decade. The programme, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, has amassed immense popularity and Vincent believes this will ensure its longevity on our screens. In an exclusive chat with BANG Showbiz, Vincent confidently stated: "I think it will carry on for at least another 10 years. I mean, I don't see why not. "We meet all the Strictly fans who come and see our own shows and they just love it too much. It's the best excuse to get together, families or friends, a bunch of ladies, and they just gossip about the show, they just get entertained from amazing dancing or, you know, fit celebrities." (Image: BBC) He continued: "There is everything in that show and every year you have the variety because you get 16 new celebrities joining the show so it's going to be fresh. You can't say, 'Oh it's always the same thing', yes, they might do the same dances but every person is so individual, especially when they have character and personality. "It's an amazing show. I can't see it ever ending but I will say at least another 10 years just by meeting the fans at the stage door afterwards, they're just obsessed with the show. They will always watch it, no matter what." Vincent believed the timing was perfect to depart Strictly when he announced his exit in 2013 but disclosed that he would welcome a comeback to the programme, especially after witnessing his mate Ian Waite flourish on Dancing with the Stars - the Australian edition of the show, reports the Mirror. The Italian performer explained: "When I left, I thought that was the right time. I was super busy and it go the point where it was seven years in a row, it got to the point where I just needed a change. I did get my change with West End shows and so many other things. "I think now with age, like Ian is taking part in the Australian version. He loves it, he's doing really well. When you watch him dancing with these celebrities on the Australian version you think, 'Oh my gosh'. For me, because he's my friend, but for me he still has it. He could easily be on Strictly the UK version and I like to think that I could do the same because I could bring my personality and my dancing. So I wouldn't mind that as a challenge at some point." (Image: Evening Gazette) Vincent is set to feature alongside former Strictly professionals - Ian Waite, James Jordan, Brendan Cole and Pasha Kovalev - in The Return of the Legends tour this autumn and shared that the performances will be more spectacular than last year's sold-out tour. He commented: "We've got a semi-new show coming up and we're all looking forward to it because obviously it's been nearly a year. It will be nice to be back all together and come out bigger than last year. "We're also gonna have our solos which for me personally are the most special numbers in the show, when each individual couple gets the stage on their own and for me that's just magic. Everybody has the chance to showcase their talent and their own style of dance. I'll be doing my Argentine Tangos, Ian will be doing his beautiful ballroom dances and Pasha, the Latin king, will be doing his Samba numbers and so on." Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Couple 'devastated' after being told huge £18,000 Gala Bingo win was an 'error'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A couple were left utterly "devastated" after their near £18,000 win on Gala Bingo turned out to be a technical glitch, resulting in their winnings being voided. Sarah Nicole Thurgood, 49, and her husband Mark, 56, believed they had hit the jackpot with a "life-changing" sum during an online bingo game on Monday. But their joy was short-lived as their accounts were suspended within hours, their balances cleared, and they were told the significant wins were erroneous. The couple, from Chichester, West Sussex, were among numerous players who thought they had won big, only to have their dreams dashed due to a technical mishap. Sarah, who is employed at an art gallery, recounted: "The money would have changed our lives dramatically. It's a total c**k-up on their behalf. They have messed with a lot of people's minds. I just don't see how they can get away with it." On Monday at 7pm, Sarah entered the Bargain Room on Gala Bingo and quickly, both she and Mark won £40 each. Their winnings escalated to £200 victories before soaring even higher. "I didn't really think too much of that, I just thought we had got lucky," Sarah admitted, reports the Mirror. (Image: Sarah Nicole Thurgood/SWNS) She described the experience as somewhat surreal, especially since they had never won such a large amount before, with Mark's previous top win being £70. Mark began his foray into Gala Bingo in April 2024, and Sarah joined the fun later that November. The pair had only ever put in a tenner between them, cleverly using free games and bonus credits to keep playing. When they cashed out £230 and £275 respectively, the money was in their bank accounts in a flash, making their winnings feel all the more real. Sarah even sought confirmation from a chatroom host, who assured her the cash was "was legit". She recounted her disbelief at winning, saying: "Then in the next game it said that I had won £600. I actually did have tears in my eyes and my head in my hands thinking this isn't right is it? Is this for real?". The chatroom soon buzzed with other players sharing news of big wins. Sarah and Mark didn't hold back, snapping up the maximum number of tickets for upcoming games and seeing potential wins of £2,400 pop up repeatedly. At one stage, their combined account balance was just shy of £18,000. Describing the experience, she said: "That felt a bit surreal. I was just saying to my husband over and over that this is totally surreal." Her excitement was palpable as she expressed her feelings: "I was elated. I was quite sceptical at that point, but still excited thinking 'b****y hell we've pretty much won the best part of 18 grand between us and for us that's quite life-changing'." The couple had humble plans for their windfall, as Sarah explained: "We weren't thinking about spending it on flash things. We live in a motorhome, we have to pay for places to stay. I only work part-time and unfortunately Mark can't work at the moment because he suffered with shingles and he's got post-herpetic neuralgia. "We would have spent it just on living. We haven't got any big ambitions. I don't need a new car. I don't want to live in a house. That money would have just made life easier. "My life would have changed. I had £400 in my bank at the time and you're thinking 'I could have another few grand in my bank yeah that would be sweet'." However, Sarah's joy was short-lived as her attempt to withdraw a £1,000 win got stuck. At 3am, she found her account suspended and soon after, Mark's account was also closed. The next day, when access was restored, the withdrawn cash had vanished, with Sarah's account showing only £80 and her withdrawal marked as "cancelled". She expressed her frustration: "I was angry." Sarah believes the prize pot should have been around £150 shared among winners, but due to a system error, the winnings were inflated to over £1.6 million. Gala reached out to players explaining: "Unfortunately, due to the technical error, your account was incorrectly credited with bingo winnings. We apologise for any inconveniences this may have caused." As compensation, all affected players received a £20 bingo bonus, which Sarah felt was more of a slight than a consolation. She expressed: "I just think if we weren't more stronger-minded then this could send people into quite deep depression and I've read some messages where it actually has for people with mental health problems and money problems. "People were saying 'oh my god I can't believe this I'm able to take my kids on holiday, I can afford my vets bills' and then for that to be snatched away, it's just ruined people's lives. They have literally raised people's hopes and then dashed in a matter of hours." A representative for Gala Bingo responded: "We apologise to customers for a technical error which occurred during our Summer Nights Bingo promotion for a short period of time, resulting in all players receiving incorrect payouts. "Our customer Terms and Conditions clearly state that in the event of a malfunction, winnings can be voided. Affected players have been contacted directly with a gesture of goodwill."

Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall recalls one thing that 'will never leave him'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Kris Marshall, the star of Beyond Paradise, has openly spoken about his unconventional route into acting. Despite being expelled from school and getting the sack, the actor known for portraying Humphrey Goodman has established himself with roles in My Family, Love Actually, and Death in Paradise. In a recent interview, Kris provided insight into his road to stardom, which was riddled with obstacles but eventually resulted in a thriving career. He's presently occupied filming for his latest role as Detective Humphrey Goodman in Beyond Paradise. Following his expulsion from school, Kris encountered a turning point: retake his exams or pursue acting. Speaking to the Guardian, the Love Actually star disclosed: "The only problem was, I had no idea how to get into the industry. Instead, I worked the odd, crazy job to make ends meet - doing shifts in a toothpaste factory or in the laundry of an abattoir." He remembered one especially grim experience: "That one was pretty grim - the smell will never leave me. I was once fired from Iceland for wearing blue sunglasses on the till, and for a while, I knocked on the doors of people who hadn't paid their TV licences," reports the Express, reports the Mirror. Kris's luck shifted when he met someone from the industry whilst working at a bar. His initial period involved touring with theatre productions before landing his first role on the silver screen. However, it was his appearances in Love Actually and the sitcom My Family that genuinely launched him into the spotlight. He added: "I would get recognised daily. Since then, it hasn't stopped, but I don't mind - it's a small price to pay for what is a wonderful job." Kris has experienced his share of professional disappointments, including the axing of his programme Sanditon before it was eventually brought back. After struggling to capture viewers during its debut series, Sanditon, adapted from Jane Austen's incomplete novel, returned for a second series in July 2022. Speaking to RadioTimes, Kris reflected on the programme's comeback: "It is the first show I've been on that has been cancelled and then reinstated. "The fans did that after it took off in America, organising an incredible campaign to bring the show back."
