McDonald's fans fume after 'best' item quietly axed from menu
McDonald's has quietly axed the "best" menu item, and fans are fuming. The fast food chain has confirmed that it's taken off the Chicken Bacon Caesar Wrap from its menu.
The wrap was first introduced back in the summer of 2023 and consists of chicken breast strips - either fried or grilled - crispy onions, rashers of bacon and lettuce, wrapped in a soft tortilla. The item quickly became a firm favourite with fans saying it was "perfect for lunch".
McDonald's discontinued the item earlier this month as part of a "rotation" of its menu, which the brand is known to do every few months.
A spokesperson told the Sun: "As part of our regular wrap rotation, we've taken the Caesar wrap off the menu for now. We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting."
As McDonald's is known for shaking up the menu every few months, often discontinued items do make a return. That means there is a chance the Chicken Caesar Wrap could come back in the future.

Fans of the wrap took to social media to question where it had gone earlier this month. Posting on Reddit, one fan said: "Where has it gone? Please don't tell me it's discontinued. It's the best one of them all!"
Another chipped in: "What the hell?! Why's this not been publicised anywhere. It was the best one of all of them. I can't believe they've decided to go with the Katsu over it. How can I complain."
A third added: "It was the only good one in this current line up, I'll gladly die in (sic) this hill."
This month, McDonald's added several new items to its menu for spring, as well as brought back a few fan favourites. Maccies intrododuced a new frozen Cherry Lemonade which is described as a tangy frozen lemonade with a sweet cherry flavoured swirl.

The McSpicy X Frank's RedHot made a grand return this month. The burger contains a chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, topped with lettuce, cheese made with Emmental, jalapenos, slivered onions, and Frank's RedHot Mayo. The SteakHouse Stack also came back alongside its Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe.
The fast food chain also started a new Breakfast Savers Menu across the north of England in May. The menu includes a brand new Sausage Sandwich (£1.99) and a savers version of the popular Bacon Roll (£2.19).
Some selected McDonald's restaurants across the North will also offer a new Breakfast Bundle Deal which comes with a Saver Bacon Roll or Sausage Sandwich, plus a drink, for £2.99. If successful, it could be rolled out to more McDonald's stores across the UK.

Don't call married couple 'husband and wife' in case it offends non-binary people, London council tells staff
Council staff have been advised not to describe married couples as 'husband and wife' - over fears it could offend people who do not identify with a gender. Instead, civil servants at the Royal Borough of Greenwich council in southeast London, have been told to use 'spouse' or 'partner'. They have also been asked to avoid saying 'ladies and gentleman' at public meetings and events, or requesting someone provide their 'Christian name', in an effort to be more inclusive. The woke guidelines are provided in a 45-page booklet obtained by The Sun following a freedom of information request. A foreword in the guide states: 'For some of us, communicating in a more inclusive way is about changing deeply embedded habits.' It adds: 'It's OK to make mistakes. Remember that if you are really sorry and apologise, you cannot keep making the same 'mistake'.' A spokesman for the council told The Times: 'Our inclusive language guide is advisory only, and was designed to encourage staff to reflect on the use of language in the workplace and how it might impact their colleagues. 'We are proud to have a very diverse workforce at Royal Borough of Greenwich, and are committed to making sure that everyone working here feels considered and included. The woke guidelines are provided in a 45-page booklet for employees at the London council 'Feedback we have received suggests the advice in the guide has been very well-received across the organisation.' Earlier this month, Merton Council in south London sent a 27-page inclusive language document round to employees encouraging them to change the words they use in the workplace. The guide, also obtained by The Sun, tells workers to stop using the words 'young', 'old' or 'mature' to describe people, in a clampdown on ageism. Terms such as 'mum and dad' and 'mother and father' are also a no-no and should be swapped out for 'caregivers', according to the document. The Labour-run council says it aims to reduce the chances of staff making assumptions about a child's biological parents. The change in terminology is supposed to 'recognise diverse family formation'. In further semantic reforms, employees will be told to use 'person-centred language' instead of gendered terms, including 'man the desk'. The council's equality and diversity team also said: 'Avoid making assumptions about preferred names or nicknames without asking the individual first.' Hannah Doody, chief executive of Merton Council, said however that the guide was more about 'tips and suggestions' rather than 'banning' the use of certain words. She said: 'I want to be really clear: the council has not banned the use of the term "mum and dad". 'The council produced a guide for staff which contains tips and suggestions on how to communicate with understanding and without making assumptions. These are not policies or instructions. 'We regularly review all our guides and policies, and intend to review this guide to ensure it cannot be further misunderstood or misrepresented.' Wokingham Council in Berkshire also came under the spotlight earlier this year after it advised staff not to use the term 'hard-working families' out of fear it could offend the jobless and make them feel 'undeserving'. Wokingham Council in Berkshire issued the advice in its new inclusive language guide. Terms like 'blacklist' and 'whitewash' were among others outlawed as they could be considered 'racist' while staff were warned 'sustained eye contact could be considered aggressive' in some cultures.

McDonald's quietly axes TWO classic burgers including ‘best thing on the menu'
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MCDONALD'S has quietly axed two classic burgers - including one that fans said was the "best thing on the menu". The Bacon Double Cheeseburger and the Bacon Mayo Chicken have been taken off the menu, the fast food giant confirmed to The Sun. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 The Bacon Double Cheeseburger was a fan favourite that had been on menus since 2018 Credit: McDonald's 2 The Bacon Mayo Chicken is a classic Mayo Chicken with added bacon Credit: McDonald's They both disappeared alongside the much-loved Triple Cheeseburger in May. The Bacon Double Cheeseburger had been a fan favourite for years after it was added to menus back in 2018. When it was first introduced it cost just £1.99, although it was selling for £2.89 more recently. The 510-calorie burger included two beef patties, two slices of cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, pickles, chopped onions, ketchup and mustard. The Bacon Mayo Chicken was essentially the classic Mayo Chicken burger with added bacon. It included crispy coated chicken with lettuce and cool mayo in a soft bun. A McDonald's spokesperson said: "We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting." Fans appeared gutted about the menu change - especially the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. One person wrote on social media: "The best thing on the menu WAS the bacon double cheeseburger." They added that they were "so disappointed". McDonald's launches brand-new burger featuring never-before-seen sauce Another said: "@McDonaldsUKhave put the price of the Wrap Of The Day up by over 15% and horror of horrors have got rid of the Bacon Double Cheeseburger AND the Triple Cheeseburger! Hamburglers!!!" A third wrote: "Please tell me this is a lie?" Meanwhile another commented that the Bacon Double Cheeseburger was one of only two things they'd buy from the menu. Some savvy McDonald's fans did point out that you can still replicate the burger by ordering a Double Cheeseburger and adding bacon as an extra. But they said this would cost you more than if you'd bought a Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Similarly you can add bacon to your Chicken Mayo burger. The Sun revealed in June that the Triple Cheeseburger had been removed from the menu. The burger, which first appeared on menus in 2020, was made with three beef patties, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and cheese. It comes after the fast food chain dropped its exciting new menu last month. The brand new items were a Jaffa Cakes McFlurry and Sprite Zero with either Green Apple or Mango and Passionfruit flavourings. Plus, Maccas brought back the Spicy Chicken McNuggets, Chicken Big Mac, Big Tasty and more. Here's the full list of new menu items you can get now: Sprite Zero with syrup - £2.19 (Medium) , six calories (Green Apple flavour) or five calories (Mango & Passionfruit flavour) , six calories (Green Apple flavour) or five calories (Mango & Passionfruit flavour) Jaffa Cakes McFlurry - £2.49, 331 calories - £2.49, 331 calories Chicken Big Mac - £5.19, 531 calories - £5.19, 531 calories Chilli Cheese Bites - £2.69, 936 calories - £2.69, 936 calories Steakhouse Stack - £6.49, 632 calories - £6.49, 632 calories Big Tasty - £7.19, 802 calories - £7.19, 802 calories Big Tasty with Bacon - £8.09, 849 calories - £8.09, 849 calories 6 Spicy Chicken McNuggets - £4.89, 254 calories - £4.89, 254 calories Big Arch - £7.99, 1,057 calories - £7.99, 1,057 calories The Fajita Chicken One - £3.69, 362 calories (grilled) or 490 calories (crispy) - £3.69, 362 calories (grilled) or 490 calories (crispy) Milky Way McFlurry - £2.49, 350 calories But fans were left fuming when the chain quietly raised prices on some of its other menu items. Favourites such as Happy Meals, fries, and wraps have seen price increases of up to 15% in just a few months. For example, the Wrap of the Day, which was priced at £1.99 in January, now costs £2.29. Happy Meals have also gone up, with some locations charging as much as £4.49, compared to £3.99 in May. Similarly, the average price of large fries has risen from £2.39 in June to £2.49 in July.

I'm an ex-McDonald's worker – three-word code gets you fresh, piping hot fries every time but staff hate it when you ask
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A FORMER McDonald's worker has revealed the secret code word to get fresh fries every time. Jamie Calder worked at the fast food chain for just over a year. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Jamie Calder has revealed some insider McDonald's secrets Credit: Jam Press/Jamie Calder 2 Jamie says there's a three-word code that gets you fresh fries Credit: Getty The now 20-year-old, who studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, is now sharing insider knowledge about his time there. The student also shared what is the biggest pet peeve of McDonald's staff. First up, he said customers can add three words to their order that ensures fries are fresh and piping hot. But he admits that staff hate it when you ask because it "ruins the flow". He said: '[My biggest pet peeve is someone] ordering 'no salt fries' just to get fresh ones. '[We'll be] in a rhythm of stacking fries and then have to wipe all the salt off the fry station and fry a new portion just for a customer who is [probably] going to dump two packs of salt on them as soon as you hand them. 'It ruins the flow and slows down the process." From what different sounds mean in the kitchen to why you should ask for special seasoning on your burger, here's what else Jamie says McDonald's fans need to know. 'The seasoning for the burger patties is incredible on nuggets or Chicken Selects,' he said. 'If it's quiet enough not to be an annoying request, I would highly recommend [asking for it]. Terrifying moment brawl erupts in McDonald's as raging customer LEAPS over counter and throws punches at worker 'And if you order on the app to collect, you can usually save some time as they'll start preparing your order before you get to the restaurant (as long as you check in when nearby)." He continues: 'The infamous McDonald's beeping comes from just about every machine in the kitchen. 'Certain beeps tell you when you get an order, when fries are halfway cooked or fully cooked, for the grills, fryers, drive-through, etc - everything beeps and it's a nightmare.' The fast food worker also lifted the lid on the customers who cause the biggest problems - and it's not people being picky about their burger toppings. He said: 'The worst 'customers' are the school-age kids who cause havoc in the dining area. 'Spraying water guns at customers and tossing tubs of sauce everywhere. 'The worst [experience I've had] was when someone blocked the bathroom sink with a plastic bag and flooded the bathroom.'
