Why did Pakistan exclude Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi from Bangladesh T20I squad, the reason is...

Babar Azam (L), Shaheen Afridi (R)
The Pakistan Cricket Board picked a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Salman Ali Agha is set lead Pakistan in the three-match series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to commence from July 20.
While many common names are on the squad for Pakistan's side, it came as a shock to fans that Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi were not part of the squad. As the Men in Green gets ready to face Bangladesh, here is a look at why the two stars were left out for the T20I series.
Babar Azam's steep fall in T20Is
Babar Azam who is known for his outstanding stroke play, hasn't been in a good form recently. However, he once had decent numbers overall but his recent performance has seen a dip. Since the T20I World Cup last year, Babar has managed to score only 200 runs at a poor average of 25. But more importantly his strike rate with respect to scoring runs for Pakistan, has been a problem for them, as he has not been anything near standard in his role. In the same time period, Babar's strike rate reads 112.99, indicative of how tough of a task it has been to score runs too quickly.
The Pakistan Super League gave him a golden opportunity to prove his worth and convince the selectors for T20I comeback, but his performance was not very impressive as he scored 288 runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 128.57.
Shaheen Afridi's decline in form
On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi performed much better in Pakistan Super League as he grabbed 19 wickets in twelve matches at an excellent strike rate of 12. Although Shaheen was superb throughout the tournament, he was dropped from the T20I squad, owing to his recent form in the format.
Shaheen Afridi had a very disappointing tour of New Zealand, managing just two wickets in four matches. He also struggled with his economy rate, giving away 10.23 runs an over. As a result, Pakistan dropped him for their next T20I series.
Mike Hesson, Pakistan's newly appointed head coach, mentioned that both these players' T20I selection is dependent solely on whether they can put consistent domestic performances together.

Harmanpreet's Century, Gaud's 6-Fer Helps India Beat England, Clinch Series 2-1

Harmanpreet Kaur's 84-ball 102 and Kranti Gaud's 6/52 helped India beat England by 13 runs in the third ODI, clinching the series 2-1. A splendid 84-ball 102 from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and a brisk fifty from Jemimah Rodrigues propelled India Women to 318/5 as Kranti Gaud starred with 6/52 to bowl out England by 13 runs in the third and final ODI to clinch the series 2-1 on Tuesday. Harmanpreet's fluent innings featured 14 boundaries and key partnerships, leading to her seventh ODI century overall and third against England. Despite Harmanpreet's efforts, India's score fell short of their highest ODI total against England, 333/5, achieved in September 2022 in Canterbury. What Record's Did Harmanpreet Break? Harmanpreet showcased her skills particularly on the off-side, hitting most of her boundaries there, with a few driven down the ground and one behind the wicket. She formed crucial partnerships, adding 81 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol (45) and a rapid 110-run stand off 77 balls with Rodrigues, pushing India past the 300-run mark. Richa Ghosh then provided the finishing touches with a quickfire 38 off 18 balls, including three fours and two sixes, capping off an all-round performance for the visitors, who had earlier won the five-match T20I series. The foundation was laid by a solid 64-run opening stand between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. Mandhana played the aggressor, scoring 45 off 54 balls with five fours, while Rawal played a supporting role, making 26 off 33 balls with two boundaries. Mandhana's innings ended when she pulled a short and wide ball from Sophie Ecclestone straight to Sophia Dunkley at midwicket in the 18th over. Rawal was dismissed in the 13th over, edged behind to 'keeper Amy Jones off Charlie Dean, a decision confirmed on review. Rodrigues found her rhythm with three consecutive fours off Dean in the 41st over and two more in the next, but couldn't advance beyond her 45-ball 50, which included seven fours. Harleen Deol appeared set for a significant score before being bounced out by seamer Lauren Bell for 45 off 65 balls, hitting four boundaries. Harmanpreet Kaur Breaks Record As India Captain Slams 84-Ball Ton vs England

A splendid 84-ball 102 from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and a brisk fifty from Jemimah Rodrigues fired India Women to 318 for five in the third and final ODI against England on Tuesday. India and England are tied 1-1 having won a game each in the series so far. This is the second fastest ton by an Indian woman in ODIs after Smriti Mandhana 's 70-ball ton against Ireland earlier this year. Harmanpreet was at her fluent best as she forged robust partnerships on the way to her seventh ODI century overall and third against England, hammering 14 fours during her stay in the middle. Harmanpreet's knock gave India their second highest ODI score against England, but at no stage their highest score of 333/5 against this opponent, recorded in September 2022 in Canterbury, was under threat. The India skipper played spectacular stokes particularly on the off-side which she peppered with most of her 14 boundaries. A few of them came down the ground and one was hit behind the wicket. Harmanpreet also stitched vital stands along the way, putting on 81 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol (45) to set the platform while her 110-run stand off only 77 balls with Rodrigues gave India the push for a total in excess of 300. Richa Ghosh then provided the finishing touches with a brisk 38 off 18 balls with three fours and two sixes, marking an all-round show for the visitors who had earlier clinched the five-match T20I series. The platform, however, was set by a strong opening stand of 64 runs between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. While both the batters were able to play their roles to near-perfection — Mandhana being the aggressor and Rawal being the second fiddle — they could not get to their personal milestones. Mandhana took the initiative to attack early on and looked in ominous touch until a false shot led to her exit. The India vice-captain had done well to crack five fours until she reached out to a short and wide ball from Sophie Ecclestone in the 18th over, which she pulled with considerable effort, but straight to Sophia Dunkley at midwicket. Mandhana made 45 off 54 balls with five fours. Before that, Rawal's resistance had ended in the 13th over when a faint edge was collected by 'keeper Amy Jones off Charlie Dean, which wasn't heard by the on-field umpire, but was discovered on a review taken by England. Rawal made 26 off 33 balls with two fours. Rodrigues looked to be in her rhythm when she cracked three consecutive fours off Dean in the 41st over of the innings and smacked two in a row again in the spinner's next over. However, she could not push on beyond a 45-ball 50 which included seven fours. On her part, Deol was also set for a big knock before she was bounced out by seamer Lauren Bell, dismissed for 45 off 65 balls with four boundaries

IND vs ENG: Massive record! India captain Harmanpreet Kaur becomes first-ever batter to...

Harmanpreet Kaur vs England (Image via X/@BCCIWomen) Harmanpreet Kaur etched her name into the history books by becoming the first-ever visiting batter to score three Women's ODI centuries in England and only the third Indian woman to score 4,000 One Day International (ODI) runs. She reached the milestone during the third and final match against England at the Riverside Ground in Durham on Tuesday. Batting at No. 4, the Indian captain also registered her seventh ODI century, powering India to a commanding 318/5 in the first innings. She brought up her century off just 82 balls, which is the second fastest by an Indian woman in ODIs. The 36-year-old joined her deputy Smriti Mandhana and the legendary Mithali Raj in the 4,000-run club, reaching the landmark in her 149th match (129th innings). Harmanpreet also became only the second Indian after Mithali Raj to score 1,000 ODI runs in England. She has now scored three centuries and five fifties in 30 matches in the country. Only six women, including Kaur, have managed 1,000-plus ODI runs in a country away from home. Indians with most runs in Women's ODIs Mithali Raj - 7805 runs (211 innings) Smriti Mandhana - 4588 runs (105 innings) Harmanpreet Kaur - 4069 (129 innings) Anjum Chopra - 2856 (112 innings) Deepti Sharma - 2392 (93 innings) While the visitors didn't threaten their record score of 333/5 from 2022, they dominated through robust batting partnerships. She added 81 runs for the third wicket with Harleen Deol (45) and later accelerated with a 110-run stand off just 77 balls with Jemimah Rodrigues, who smashed a 45-ball 50 studded with seven fours. Richa Ghosh added a late flourish with an unbeaten 38 off 18 balls, which included three fours and two sixes. Poll Who do you think is the most influential Indian woman cricketer of all time? Harmanpreet Kaur Mithali Raj Smriti Mandhana Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal laid a solid platform with a 64-run opening stand. Mandhana looked in fine touch during her 45 off 54 balls before falling to Sophie Ecclestone. Rawal contributed 26 before edging one behind off Charlie Dean, with England successfully reviewing the decision. Harleen Deol also got a start but was dismissed for 45, falling to Lauren Bell's short ball. Despite individual milestones missed, India ended with a strong total in the series decider, having earlier won the five-match T20I series. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4.
