The Eye of Horus Bustier, designed by Azza Fahmy in collaboration with Balmain for their 2023 Resort Collection, is now on display at the Young Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The piece is being exhibited as part of the 'Making Egypt' exhibition which explores the enduring creativity of Ancient Egypt on the modern art, design, and cultural landscape.
Azza Fahmy's golden Eye of Horus takes its form from the Ancient Egyptian symbol of protection. Shaped like modern armour, and completed with a clasp on the back which reads the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for protection, this piece embodies the transhistorical dialogue of the exhibition.
Founded in 1969, Azza Fahmy has carved out a global presence as a brand which translates Egyptian culture into wearable art. Her latest retail expansion in London, alongside her presence among the Young V&A's display items, demonstrate a growing global presence.

Samiha Ayoub's Funeral Details Announced
Yara Sameh The funeral details of veteran Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 93, have been disclosed. The iconic actress' funeral is set to be held after Asr prayer at the Police Mosque in the 6th of October City, Giza Governorate, where she is set to be buried afterward in her family's cemetery in 6th of October City. No date has been set for the solace ceremony yet. Dubbed Arab Theater Lady, Ayoub has a vast artistic career that spanned over 50 years. She is known for her work on stage, in cinema, and on television. Ayoub was born in 1932 and began her acting career at the age of 15 by participating in the movie "The Vagabond" (1947). She graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1953, where she was taught by the playwright Zaki Tulaimat. From 1972 to 1975, Ayoub managed The Modern Theatre, and from 1975 to 1985, she was the director of The Egyptian National Theatre. Throughout her artistic career, she has presented more than 260 film, TV, and theatrical productions, including 170 plays alone. Her distinguished film contributions include 'Ard el-Nefaq', 'Fagr el-Islam', and 'Bein al-Atlal,' while her notable television works include 'El Doo' el-Shared', 'Awan el-Ward', and 'El-Masrawiya.' Ayoub was honored by President Gamal Abdel Nasser, President Anwar Sadat, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, and French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. In 2015, she received the Nile Award in the Arts, and in the same year, the large hall at The Egyptian National Theatre was named after her, in honour of her outstanding career in cinema and theatre, and her contributions to the theatrical arts in Egypt. In 2021, after a hiatus of 11 years, Ayoub was back on the theater stage through the play' Almaz W Se Abdou'' directed by Mazen el Gharabawy. Video: ‘Acting in Egypt was a dream,' Mena Massoud comments on his first Egyptian film
International Egyptian-born Canadian star Mena Massoud commented on his first Egyptian film, 'In Broad Daylight,' which is scheduled to be released in cinemas starting June 18. Massoud wrote on Instagram 'There are no words to describe how excited I am for my film to premiere in Egyptian cinema. Acting in Egypt with all these amazing actors was a dream come true.' 'Egypt is home to some of the most talented artists in the world, and I look forward to all of you experiencing Egyptian cinema. Some for the first time, some for the hundredth time. I would like to thank Egypt and my family at In Broad Daylight for all your support over the years. It's wonderful to be home.' In Broad Daylight In Broad Daylight is the first Egyptian film starring Massoud. The film revolves around the journey of a young Egyptian man who is recruited into the most dangerous international mafia. He returns home and choose to walk the difficult road of salvation and identity. The film is directed by Marcos Adel and written by Karim Sorour. Various Arab stars participated in the film including: Eman al-Assi, Sherine Reda, Jamila Awad, Bayoumi Fouad, and Mahmoud al-Bezawy.
