Cullman man arrested after high-speed chase, foot pursuit in Decatur park

Yahoo09-04-2025

Apr. 9—A Cullman man was arrested in Decatur on Friday after fleeing from police officers in his vehicle — with his teenage son inside — and later on foot through Austinville Park, according to a police affidavit.
Christopher Wayne Lynn, 39, faces 11 charges including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, third-degree domestic violence, and attempting to elude a police officer. After the arrest, he was transported to Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $7,300 bond, according to jail records, and remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to the affidavit, a Decatur police officer noticed Lynn driving a silver Volkswagen Gold with no tag and improper headlights.
"Upon initiating a vehicle stop near Corrine Avenue and Austinville Road Southwest, the vehicle continued eastbound before entering the parking lot of 108 14th Street Southwest," the affidavit said. "The vehicle then went off road in between two businesses, breaking through a wooden fence before reentering Austinville Road."
The affidavit said Lynn ran two red lights and reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone.
"The pursuit ended with Lynn's vehicle (becoming) disabled at Austinville Park after causing property damage," the affidavit said. "Lynn fled the scene of the accident before being placed under arrest."
The affidavit said after a brief foot chase through Austinville Park, police apprehended Lynn and three bags of synthetic marijuana, or spice, were found near where he wrecked and an additional four bags were found on 14th Street Southwest. The bags weighed a total of 10 grams.
Lynn's 17-year-old son was with him in the vehicle during the police chase and when he wrecked, according to the affidavit.
Lynn in 2019 pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery in connection with an armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy on Beltline Road, according to court records. He was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of probation. His probation was at one time revoked when he allegedly got drunk and assaulted his father and juvenile son at a campground in Tennessee.

Woman in Hartselle charged with prescription fraud after incident at Kroger pharmacy

Jun. 6—A woman was arrested on Tuesday and charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud after she allegedly gave two prescriptions to a pharmacy in Hartselle under a different name, according to an affidavit signed by a Hartselle police lieutenant. Dorian Jada Brazley, 28, was transported by Hartselle police to Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Jail records show her still in custody as of Wednesday morning. According to the affidavit, at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Tuesday, a pharmacy technician at Kroger took possession of two prescriptions presented by Brazley. "Brazley claimed the prescriptions were for her cousin, identified on the prescription forms as Jaylen T. Moore," the affidavit said. The prescriptions were for 30 mg of Oxycodone and Lubiprostone 24 mcg capsules, which is a laxative used for chronic constipation. The technician and pharmacist became suspicious because of the unusual formatting and presentation of the prescriptions that were inconsistent with typical prescriptions issued by this specific doctor, who the affidavit identified as a family physician in Decatur. After calling the doctor's office, the affidavit said the pharmacist was informed the prescriptions were forgeries and they called the Hartselle police department. "While law enforcement was en route, the suspect departed the location but returned at approximately 7:30 p.m. to inquire about picking up the prescriptions," the affidavit said. Officers were then called again and arrived on scene to detain Brazley and transported her to the Hartselle police department to speak with investigators. — or 256-340-2442.

Decatur man arrested again after failing to appear on burglary charges

Jun. 5—A Decatur man was arrested Tuesday on failure to appear warrants for 2024 charges of third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools and remained in the Morgan County Jail without bail Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records. An alias warrant issued by the Morgan County Circuit Court on May 28 ordered the arrest of 61-year-old Richard Gonzalez. His bail had been revoked a day earlier for committing "one or more new crimes while released on bond," according to an order from Circuit Judge Stephen F. Brown. On Jan. 20, 2024, Gonzalez and another suspect were arrested for allegedly burglarizing a detached garage in the 100 block of Daniel Street Southwest, according to a Decatur police affidavit. Gonzalez was found inside the residence. A female victim provided police with "photos of the suspects inside the garage removing several pre-hung doors," according to Decatur police officer Thomas Kirby. "The suspects had placed six pre-hung (doors) from the garage on a small trailer that was attached to a white Ford E-350 van that was registered to Gonzalez." Gonzalez was released from the Morgan County Jail the next day on a $2,500 bond, court records show, and was scheduled to appear before a judge on March 14, 2024. The latest charges against Gonzalez stem from a May 14 arrest for possession of controlled substances. An affidavit said Decatur police investigators served a search warrant at his home on Danville Road Southwest on April 28 and found marijuana and pregabalin pills — an anticonvulsant classified as a Schedule V controlled substance under federal and state law. Gonzalez was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $2,600 bond two days after his arrest. His arraignment for the third-degree burglary charge is scheduled for June 24 in Brown's courtroom. — or 256-340-2442.

Police: Rockford man robs CVS, attacks officers

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Zamareyo Gibson, 20, for robbing a CVS, among other charges. On June 4, around 1 a.m., officers were called to the CVS Pharmacy on South Alpine Street for reports of a suspect who stole $260 out of a register. The cashier told authorities he feared he was going to be attacked by Gibson, so he opened the register for the suspect. Soon after, officials tracked down Gibson's blue Ford Expedition and took him into custody at North Horseman and West Jefferson Streets. Police found loose cash, rolled coins and multiple books of stamps. Gibson damaged the inside of the squad car he was transported in, causing a water leak, according to court records. He also kicked and spat on multiple officers when he was taken to jail, authorities reported. Gibson is charged with three counts of aggravated battery of an officer, robbery, criminal damage to government property and resisting arrest. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
