Robert Kubica happy to silence critics with Le Mans victory
The 40-year-old former Formula One driver became the first Polish overall winner of the French endurance race in a car shared with Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson.
"I don't think my limitations are limiting behind the wheel. I think if someone had doubts in the past I showed the doubts should not be in place," he told the BBC.
Kubica, the first Polish Formula One driver, won the Canadian Grand Prix and finished fourth overall in 2008. He was linked with a move to Ferrari before the crash sidelined him for nearly a year.
He returned to motor racing in 2012, focusing mostly on endurance races, before making a return to Formula One in 2019.
"There were very extreme quotes from some people which hurt me because I am the first one who would never like to be back for marketing or a being a PR muppet," Kubica said.
"People pointing the finger, saying maybe it wasn't safe, and having doubts. They are not doing it any more."

Can Spurs shock PSG in Uefa Super Cup?
Tottenham's longer odds may be worth a punt. Tottenham Hotspur's difficult last season ended on a positive, as they beat Manchester United to lift the Uefa Europa League and qualify for the new campaign's Uefa Champions League. Another reward for Spurs is that they get to take on last season's Champions League winner Paris St Germain on Wednesday evening in the Uefa Super Cup. Spurs have had a difficult off-season, losing creative star James Maddison to a long-term injury and seeing club legend Son Heung-Min depart for Los Angeles FC in the USA. Winger Mohammed Kudus has been brought in from West Ham, while Joao Palhinha looks an astute signing in defensive midfield. But the general feeling is that Thomas Frank's side are still a little short heading into a busy season. PSG had a fantastic 2024/25 campaign under Luis Enrique, winning the Champions League for the first time, absolutely thumping Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. The French champions crashed slightly back down to earth when they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the Fifa Club World Cup final. But they will still head into Wednesday's game at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udinese, Italy as clear favourites. The main talking point of PSG's very short pre-season has been a fallout with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who looks set to leave, and who has been left out of PSG's squad for the clash with Tottenham. PSG have signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, and he looks set to be their number one 'keeper for the season. Spurs coach Frank has had his own problems, leaving Yves Bissouma out of his squad after the midfielder was repeatedly late for training. Betway's odds for the game reflect PSG's favourites tag, with the French side at 1.43 to Tottenham's 6.40 and a draw at 5.20. Anything can happen in a one-off match, however, as Crystal Palace showed last weekend when they took down Liverpool to lift the FA Community Shield. Chelsea exposed a frailty in PSG at left back when they took them down in the Club World Cup final. And Tottenham's Frank may well copy from Enzo Maresca's playbook. With far better bang for your buck, Spurs may just be worth a punt.

Rare Jaguar D-Type heads to auction in Switzerland
XKD 551 was sold new in October 1957 and converted by its first owner to semi-XKSS specification, with a passenger door, full-width windscreen and other modifications. Subsequent owners included James Dawnay, noted for racing the Aston Martin DBR1/1, and Australian Formula One driver Paul Hawkins. In the 1970s, the car was returned to its original D-Type configuration. Its original in-line-six engine was removed for preservation and replaced with a correct-specification unit. After changing hands several times, the car was acquired by its current Swiss owner in 1994. That owner later commissioned a rebuild of the original engine, which remained in storage for nearly two decades before being refitted. The car recently underwent servicing by Swiss specialists Graber Sportgarage in preparation for sale.

Pirates and Sundowns both need a bounce back win
Can last season's top two grab the three points on Tuesday? Orlando Pirates have an immediate chance to bounce back in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday, as they visit Marumo Gallants at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Mangaung. Pirates were stunned at home on Saturday by Sekhukhune United, not an ideal Premiership start to his life as Buccaneers coach for Abdeslam Ouaddou. It will get worse for Ouaddou if he loses in Mangaung, against the side he coached last season. Ouaddou left Gallants at the end of that campaign, just four months after being hired. The Moroccan landed on his feet, however, snapped up by Pirates after Jose Riveiro left to join Al Ahly. Gallants have since hired 28 year-old French coach Alexandre Lafitte, the youngest head coach ever in the Premier Soccer League. And they got off to a good start, winning 2-1 at Richards Bay in their opening Premiership match of the season. Gallants did beat Pirates in this corresponding fixture last season, ironically Ouaddou's first in charge at the Mangaung side. Now he must mastermind their downfall. The former Morocco international does have a Buccaneers squad teeming with talent, that should have too much for Gallants. This reflects in the Betway odds, with Pirates at 1.60 to Gallants' 6.20, and a draw at 3.55, Also on Tuesday, Mamelodi Sundowns host AmaZulu at Loftus Stadium, with Miguel Cardoso's side looking for their first league win of the season. The eight-time reigning champions spluttered to a 1-1 draw at Chippa United in their opening match of this season. Arthur Zwane's AmaZulu, meanwhile, started their campaign with a 1-0 home win over newly-promoted Orbit College. Sundowns, however, are the clear favourites to win this one, priced at 1.30 to AmaZulu's 11.00 and a draw at 4.90. Masandawana, indeed, have lost to Usuthu just once in their last 15 meetings in all competitions, winning 12 of those. Miguel Cardoso's side are unlikely to have taken kindly to have dropped points on Saturday and it could just be that they take it out on AmaZulu. If Zwane's side can upset Sundowns, however, it will surely start tongues wagging that this could be the season Masandawana finally lose their grip on the title.
