Delhi University activates 3-year degree exit from FYUP
NEW DELHI: Delhi University has issued a notification allowing students enrolled under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) to exit the course after completing the third year with a degree, marking a major step in the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The official notification issued on Thursday states that students who have successfully completed six semesters (three years) under the UG Curriculum Framework 2022 are eligible to exit with a three-year degree - a general degree for multi-core discipline programmes or an Honours degree for single-core disciplines.
"Students interested in availing the above option can log in to the university's student portal at https:lc.uod.ac.in and submit their intent through the designated online process," the notification reads.
It further advised students to "carefully evaluate their academic and career goals" and consult teachers and mentors before opting for the early exit.
The move comes as Delhi University prepares to launch the fourth and final year of the FYUP this August. Introduced under NEP 2020, the FYUP extends undergraduate courses from three to four years and offers multiple entry and exit options, allowing students to receive a certificate, diploma or degree after completing one, two or three years, respectively.

The fourth year provides an opportunity for research specialisation.
While the new structure is intended to provide flexibility and deepen academic engagement, it has also sparked concerns over infrastructure gaps, incomplete curriculum, and a lack of preparedness among colleges and faculty.
Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, in an interview with PTI in May, acknowledged these concerns but asserted, "Facilities will be created. This is the first time the focus is on research, entrepreneurship and skill... this fourth year will be a game changer."
As the university moves forward with the transition, the latest exit option notification is expected to offer students greater autonomy and clarity in navigating their academic paths under the evolving framework of higher education.

Rozgar Mission to pave way for employment opportunities abroad
1 2 Lucknow: The state cabinet on Thursday gave nod to the formation of the Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Mission that would help people from state find jobs across India as well as abroad. Labour minister Anil Rajbhar said till now, the labour and employment department used to connect people with jobs through schemes like rozgar melas. The mission, however, would involve direct support of the govt to link persons with employers. "We have set a target of finding jobs for 25,000-30,000 people abroad and up to 1 lakh within the country in the next one year. The reason this is a game changer is because now the govt will have its own recruiting agent licence. Till now, we had to depend on recruiting agents for foreign job placements," he said. Rajbhar added that there was currently a huge demand for paramedical staff, nurses, drivers, technical persons, skilled and semi-skilled labour in countries like the Gulf, UAE, US, Canada, Israel etc. The activities of the mission will include survey of job demand, listing of top companies and collecting their requirements, identifying skill gaps and offering training, language training and pre-departure orientation, career counselling and campus placements, and post-placement support and follow-ups. The mission will be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It will operate through five major units, which will include the governing council, state steering committee, state executive committee, state programme management unit and district executive committee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo In another major step aimed at increasing the participation of women in the work force, the cabinet has allowed relaxation of rules governing the employment of women in hazardous workplaces. "The Yogi govt has now permitted women to work in all 29 categories of hazardous factories under certain safety conditions. Till now they were barred from working in such factories," Rajbhar said. "The amended rules aim to provide women with equal employment opportunities, ensuring they play an active role in UP's journey towards becoming a USD 1 trillion economy ," he said. It was also decided that retired army personnel need not only be employed through the GeM portal. Now they can be hired through the Purva Sanik Kalyan Nigam, which will be paid a 5% charge per person for their services.

After Supreme Court order, Noida starts to plug decade-old missing link
Noida: The Supreme Court has cleared the decks for the construction of a 200-metre stretch in the city that remained stalled for over a decade because of legal disputes over land acquisition in Hajipur village. The order will enable the completion of a vital link connecting sectors 99/100 with sectors 46/47. Most of the road project linking the sectors has been ready for years, except for the final disputed segment. The new connection is critical for commuters as it promises to ease traffic congestion by providing a direct route between sectors 46, 47, and 99 to sector 98, eliminating the current need for making long detours through sectors 100, 101, and Hajipur. The project hit a roadblock in 2003 when a villager, Hukum Singh, challenged the land acquisition notified in 2001-2002 under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. He moved the Allahabad high court, which dismissed the petition in Jan 2021 and noted that the land was already vested with the govt through an award passed by the land acquisition officer under Section 11A. After Singh died, his legal heirs approached the Supreme Court, seeking a stay on the road project. Here, too, a bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma dismissed the appeal on Nov 21 last year. "We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned judgment and order passed by the high court," the SC bench observed. The apex court declined to examine "subsequent developments" as they weren't part of the original record or considered by the high court. However, it left room for the petitioners to pursue separate legal remedies for fresh issues if permitted under law. To complete the road, the Authority plans to remove illegal structures on the disputed land, which includes 10-12 shops, concrete buildings, and around 70 slum dwellings, with police help. "No case related to this matter is pending in any court. Our legal department has verified that. Considering public convenience and Noida's planned development, the construction of this road has become all the more essential," an Authority official said.

CII chief sees 6.7% growth in FY26, says uncertainty a risk
NEW DELHI: The country's economy is projected to grow by 6.4-6.7% during the current financial year, Rajiv Memani, newly appointed president of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), said on Thursday but cautioned that geopolitical uncertainty could pose a risk to the forecast. "At a time when global economic and political volatility is at its highest in over two decades, India stands out as a bright spot," Memani said. In his first news conference after taking over as CII president, Memani also suggested a raft of reform measures that could be undertaken to accelerate growth. He also backed rationalisation of GST rates and a move towards a three-tiered rate structure, with essential goods under 5% slab, luxury and sin goods at 28%, and placing all other items within 12-18% range. Memani cited a number of factors that are supporting growth, including a favourable monsoon outlook, enhanced liquidity after RBI's rate cuts. Regarding the proposed India-US Free Trade Agreement, Memani said: "We will not have 100% winners," stating that CII has advocated for a "balanced and reasonable" approach. He said sensitive sectors, such as agriculture and dairy, might be excluded from the initial agreement, which is expected to be implemented in phases as areas with significant political implications would be addressed at a later stage. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Memani also expressed concerns over shortage of critical minerals in the auto sector and said the issue is more serious than it appears, with some auto companies already planning to cut production. He stressed the importance of India identifying and addressing critical supply chain dependencies, as well as upskilling its workforce to better align with industry demands.
