Commanders pick the right game for their black alternates in 2025

Well, the Commanders did select the correct game for the black alternate uniforms. On Wednesday, the Commanders announced their jersey schedule for the 2025 season. There will be the usual Commanders burgundy ( five games), the Commanders white (eight games), three games of Super Bowl era throwbacks, and the one time they will wear the alternate black uniforms. While openly voicing disapproval when the organization turned from throwback uniforms to the black alternate uniform, because they were moving away from the historic NFL history of the franchise, I, this time, voice approval. Approval, because if the Commanders were still going to wear the alternate black uniform during the 2025 season, this is a good move for two reasons. First, the team is only going to wear the black alternate uniforms once. That is less than they have since introducing the move away from the historic team colors of burgundy and gold in 2022. Decreasing the number of games where they wear uniforms that are not the team colors is indeed progress. Secondly, since the team is only going to wear the black and gold alternate uniforms once, they certainly displayed some keen insight to select the Week 6 home game against the Bears, didn't they? I mean, who can forget the Bears game in 2024 when the final play of the game, the Bears defender was talking to the fan base, not carrying out his responsibility, and wide receiver Noah Brown was left unguarded and unbelievably caught the tipped Hail-Mary pass for the Commanders' shocking victory? The Bears have had to live with the embarrassment of how they blew this game. Therefore, it seems only right that the Commanders would pull out the black and gold uniforms for only the 2025 rematch. The Josh Harris ownership group, being from the Washington area, understandably loves the historic Burgundy and Gold uniforms. Consequently, it should not be surprising if they "phase out" the black alternates entirely. However, the "Hail Mary to Noah Brown" was a miraculous moment in franchise history, and the Commanders' decision to wear the black alternate uniforms that day suggests that ownership may choose to continue this practice once a season. It won't be any surprise throughout the 2025 season when the white Commanders uniforms are criticized. Absolutely not a single Redskins/Commanders fan likes those as much as they do the SB era white uniforms. So get ready for that criticism from the fan base. But for now, can't the fan base enjoy the way things are trending with the Commanders' uniforms in 2025?

Taylor Swift reveals she screamed about Chiefs drafting Xavier Worthy after she became football 'obsessed'

Taylor Swift opened up about how she went from only being involved in sports strictly to further her music career to going wild when the Kansas City Chiefs selected Xavier Worthy in the draft. Swift appeared on Travis and Jason Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," for the first time Wednesday night and, in between talking about their love story, the pop music icon talked about getting to know what professional football was all about. She recalled asking Travis on their first date what it was like when he faced his brother in the 2023 Super Bowl but didn't realize they technically weren't on the field against one another at the same time. "Jason, on our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the field across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing on the other, like five feet in front of him on the field," she said. "He didn't even look at me. Like, I now know what an insane question that was. … I thought everyone was on the field at the same time. I thought it was like Jared Goff is here, and Josh Allen is here, and they blow a whistle. And they go at each other, and they're like, 'Who's going to win?'" she added, describing how she thought quarterbacks squared off in a one-on-one matchup. From there, Swift said she started to learn certain defensive schemes and went wild when the team drafted Worthy No. 32 overall in 2024. "I didn't know what a first down was. I didn't know what the chains were. I didn't know what a tight end was. … Oh my God, I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it. I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!' My friends are like, 'Who body-snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?" Even Travis expressed skepticism when she was going wild about Worthy when he didn't even know who the team had drafted. "I was so excited. I couldn't believe it," she added. Later in the show, Swift said her only interaction with spots was when she sang the national anthem at football games. "My relationship with sports was like, you know, I grew up in Pennsylvania. I always heard my dad yelling at the screen watching Eagles games. That was always the sports sounds that I heard in my house," she said. "However, I was up in my room, playing guitar, learning instruments, playing piano. I was focused on different things. I was so laser-focused on music, and that's how it was in school. "I would go to sporting events so I could sing the national anthem. Everything was a means to an end to get me to do music. I know every halftime show from the Super Bowls, but I didn't watch the sports." Travis took credit for Swift being "engulfed" by football in an interview with GQ Magazine. "I definitely became obsessed with sports when it came to him," she added. "I'm competitive on his behalf, but if you and me are gonna go against each other in something athletic, I'm gonna let you win because I don't see what the points even mean. I'm a fan of athletics and the sports. If I'm doing the sports, I'm throwing like this because I don't really care where it's supposed to go."

Bills sign former Georgia RB James Cook to massive four-year deal

The contract dispute between the Buffalo Bills and star running back James Cook is now over. Both parties can shift their focus to try to win a Super Bowl. Cook and the Bills have agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract, with $30 million guaranteed. This new deal follows a tense offseason where Cook publicly expressed his desire for a new contract and sat out of training camp. However, he returned to practice on Tuesday before the deal was finalized. Cook wanted $15 million per season, but he did not end up getting quite that much. Still, it is a nice pay day for the former Georgia Bulldogs running back. "This is the place that drafted me," Cook said upon signing his contract extension. "The fans are good, the community is good, and just the team we got, man, we play as one. We are brothers and we have a good bond. It all shows they got my back." Cook is coming off two highly productive seasons, having rushed for over 1,000 yards in both. He also set a career high with 16 touchdowns in 2024. This new contract ensures that the Bills will keep their star running back for the foreseeable future. Cook is the latest running backs get paid. He joins Kyren Williams, who received a three-year, $33 million deal with $23 million guaranteed. The Bills open their regular season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
