Ownership of 95 house owners of Kanshiram Awas Yojana cancelled in Prayagraj
Authorities have cancelled the ownership of 95 houses under the Kanshiram Awas Yojana in Devghat, Jhalwa, after an inspection found that the beneficiaries were renting out the units instead of residing in them, as mandated under the housing scheme, officials confirmed on Saturday. The action followed a ground inspection by sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) (Sadar) Abhishek Singh on the direction of district magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar. The inspection revealed that in 95 out of 512 houses across 34 blocks, the original allottees were not residing and had instead rented out their homes.
The matter surfaced after a poor woman approached the DM during a public hearing, stating she was landless and in desperate need of a house. Responding to her plea, the DM ordered a verification of the Kanshiram Awas Yojana beneficiaries.
According to officials, such misuse directly violates the terms of the Kanshiram Awas Yojana, which aims to provide shelter to economically weaker sections who do not own property.
On Friday evening, Tehsildar (Sadar) Anil Pathak directed local staff to paste notices of ownership cancellation on the gates of the affected units in Devghat Jhalwa.

Graveyard bulldozed in Sambhal; houses, shops marked in red for demolition
Meerut: Authorities in Sambhal on Tuesday bulldozed parts of a graveyard in the district's Sher Khan Sarai village under Sadar Kotwali and reclaimed around 2,000 square metres of "encroached govt land". Officials said action in the matter -- under section 67 of the UP Revenue Code -- was taken following an investigation. They also marked around 31 shops and 20 houses in nearby Turtipur Ilha as "illegal structure on govt school and gram samaj land". Locals who reside near the graveyard were seemingly upset. One of them said, "Razing any grave is not right. These graves were very old..." A young resident added: "We have been seeing these graves since our childhood." Sambhal DM, Rajender Pensiya, said, "Sambhal's tehsildar court ordered the removal of encroachments on July 9. Since no appeal was made against the order within the stipulated time, demolition was carried out with bulldozers in the presence of police personnel. Public use of the encroached graveyard was stopped a long time ago." The DM added that the land will now be used to build a police post and a girls' hostel. "Cost of the reclaimed land is around Rs 6 cr. This place was encroached upon over the years with boundary walls and a large concrete gate, which has been razed," he said. During the anti-encroachment drive at Turtipur Ilha locality, officials marked about 51 properties as "illegal" with red paint. The DM said that land records confirmed the sites were govt-owned, and the occupants were told to prove ownership or face demolition. "Some of the structures are 15–20 years old," he said. At both locations, residents opposed the administrative action. "We have been living here for decades. This house was built by my grandfather some 60 years ago. Many other houses in the locality are of the same time," a local said. Another added: "Declaring them illegal without due consideration is unfair and wrong." Porn video played during education department's online meeting in UP, complaint filed
An online public meeting of the education department in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj was disrupted after a pornographic video was played and objectionable remarks were made by an unidentified participant, PTI reported on Monday, citing officials. According to officials, the meeting was meant to facilitate direct communication between the public and the DM on school-related issues.(Image for representation) The incident took place on August 7 during an e-Chaupal session conducted via Zoom. The meeting was chaired by the district magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma, the basic education officer, block education officers, headmasters, government teachers and members of the public. According to officials, the meeting was meant to facilitate direct communication between the public and the DM on school-related issues. 'The accused are being identified through technical means and action will be taken soon,' he said, according to PTI.

Comedian Kapil Sharma received distressing news on Thursday as his cafe, Kap's Cafe, in Surrey, British Columbia, was attacked for the second time in less than a month. Located at the intersection of 85 Avenue and Scott Road, the cafe's windows were shattered by gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although some staff members were inside at the time of the incident. The motive behind the latest attack remains unclear, but it comes just days after Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke visited the cafe to celebrate its reopening. A post on social media, purportedly by a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the latest attack. 'We called him but he did not hear the ring so action had to be taken. Now, if he does not hear, then the next action will be taken in Mumbai,' read the post in Hindi. Kap's Cafe had posted a video with Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and police officials just days prior to the latest shooting incident with the caption, 'Thank you to the mayor of Surrey, Brenda Locke, Surrey Police Service, and all the officials who visited us to show their love and support. The cafe had reopened just two weeks before the mayor's visit, and the staff had announced on Instagram, 'The lights are on, the coffee's warm, and our hearts are full.' The initial attack took place on July 10, when multiple bullets struck the cafe and nearby buildings. One of India's most wanted fugitives, Harjit Singh Laddi, of BKI (Babbar Khalsa International), claimed responsibility for the attack. The assailants claimed that the attack was orchestrated to take revenge after Kap's Cafe owner Kapil Sharma allegedly made some joke about Nihang Sikhs.
