Sex stories and scandalous truths: the podcast Just Between Us is out now
I didn't think I'd be hearing her cackle as I talked about my first boyfriend and that awkward encounter, when the most my school ever taught me was how to put a condom on a cucumber (making eye contact with my headteacher Mrs Chapman as I fumbled with the wrapper is something I regrettably can't forget).
I'd watched Diana on X factor at just nine years old, singing Dido's White Flag, wide-eyed and captivated, then admired her evolution into actor and social media firecracker, with no idea our paths would cross in this way.
But, in what feels like cosmic fate, we're co-presenting Metro's brand new relationships podcast: Just Between Us.
Each week, we'll take a listener call where you have the opportunity to share your stories, questions, and concerns.
What do I bring to the table? Well, it may not be a list of certified pop bangers, but as Metro's dedicated sex and relationships reporter I do know my stuff.
With so much misinformation out there on love and sex, I aim to bring you informed, impartial insights based on my years of work in this area.

And Diana? She'll be using those talented vocal chords to counsel you as a best friend or big sister, giving her signature hot takes and spilling her juiciest dating stories from over the years.
The first episode drops July 1, with a call from Hannah, 23, who's never had a boyfriend but desperately wants to lose her virginity.
'Every time I get close to it, I get nervous and freak out,' she tells us. 'I feel ready to have sex but it's getting frustrating. Both my siblings are in their first serious relationships – I'm getting impatient.'
Hannah speaks about her time at an all girls' school and how that may have hindered her in the boy department, as well as her fear and anxiety that builds up when an opportunity to have sex presents itself.
'Honestly, my brain never learned how to be friends with males who are my age, who are attractive – I even get nervous talking to male colleagues,' she says.
'It's the thought of going back to someone's house, to a whole new environment and getting naked with someone who I don't necessarily know.'
We also share our own stories of losing our V-cards, and while you'll have to listen to the podcast for the full story of my first time, the words 'it didn't work' were used. And for Diana an unwelcome interruption made things awkward.
Throughout the 12 episodes of season one, you'll learn that Diana and I have had very different relationships with love and sex. Those of you who had positive sexual encounters in your early lives will find comfort in Diana's stories.

It's beginning to get to that time of the year where high-octane gameshows start to take over your life. With the hotly anticipated Celebrity Traitors just around the corner, the second season of The Fortune Hotel could well be the series to tick you over until then. Presented by Stephen Mangan, the show, which sees ten pairs of contestants battle it out to win a whopping £250,000, will kick off tonight on ITV at 9pm. Speaking to the Metro ahead of its launch, Mangan has already admitted that he can be 'as ruthless as everybody else', as the game requires contestants to lie, cheat and bluff to get their hands on the money. Taking place in a gorgeous location that provides a stunning backdrop to the entertainment, the show has been described as 'extremely stressful' by those who have experienced it first hand. To find out more about the upcoming series, Metro takes a deep dive into how the game exactly works and who will be featuring in this year's cast. ITV's The Fortune Hotel features ten pairs of contestants who compete to find a briefcase containing £250,000 while avoiding one with an 'Early Checkout' card. Daily challenges determine what order the players keep or swap their briefcase. Will you be watching The Fortune Hotel season two? At the end of each day, pairs gather to decide whether to keep their current briefcase or swap it with another. The ultimate aim is to correctly identify the money-filled briefcase and hold onto it until the end to win the £250,000 prize. The new cast for the 2025 series has been revealed ahead of the first episode tonight. Chelsey and Briony, Atholl and John, Nella and Tope, Allan and Jacob, Fred and Min, Gurks and Guv, James and Yasmine, Sue and Jeremy and Martina and Briony will all be checking into the luxurious resort for the second season. Metro columnist Adam Miller was fortunate enough to actually play The Fortune Hotel, but according to him he 'didn't know life could be that stressful'. Adam said how 'even without a life-changing amount of money at stake, stress levels were high'. 'We were put into pairs, and one by one we picked our case, opening it in front of the rival teams and hoping not to give any signals that might reveal the contents inside' he explained. 'Ours had nothing – it was a case full of blank paper. Regardless, I was shaking like I'd just opened a chest of gold – or the card that would see me banished. Suspicions were on us'. The occupation of the contestants ranges from retired police officers to construction workers and cleaning business owners. There is also a tech broker and property manager mother and son duo as well as life partners and retirees Fred and Min. The first season of The Fortune Hotel provided some high quality drama last year. The winners of the gameshow were Jo-Anne and Will, a mother and son duo. They took home a cool £210,000 after successfully navigating the game and outwitting the other contestants. The duo did, however, give some of their prize money away to Aysha and Sam after many viewers felt they became villains of the show after playing dirty. The Fortune Hotel 2025 will be filmed at the stunning Silversands Grenada resort in the Caribbean. Strictly fans 'gutted' as star announces they won't compete in upcoming season
Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez has confirmed that he won't be returning as a competitor in the next season. The Spanish dancer, 34, has been competing in the BBC show since 2016 and has been a fan favourite who placed as runner up on three separate occasions. Gorka was forced to break a few hearts on social media as he announced to fans that a new gig would clash with Strictly this year. 'I am Happy to announce that I will be back for season two of BAILANDO CON LAS ESTRELLAS as a judge from September. This news comes as the BBC show has come under scrutiny, and a probe is launched to investigate claims of cocaine use by two stars, with a fresh claim that one of the stars involved was also drinking on the show. Drag queens forced to stop reading Dear Zoo to children at library
Listen to article A RuPaul's Drag Race star has condemned the treatment of two drag performers who were escorted from a children's reading session at a Belfast library. As Lady Portia Di'Monte read the words of Dear Zoo and Miss Dora Belle narrated them using sign language, a group of protesters gathered outside the Holywood Arches Library. One woman can be heard shouting: 'shame on both of you, leave the kids alone'. The event was eventually abandoned amid rising tensions and they were escorted by police to prevent further disruption. Drag artist Crystal told Metro: 'Watching two drag queens getting escorted out by the police is very depressing. 'It sets a terrible precedent that fringe protesters with beliefs that do not represent the whole of society or even the majority of society are able to – if they are loud enough – get events cancelled and make people unsafe.' Northern Ireland's Minister for Communities Gordon Lyons said the event was 'not appropriate for children' and had 'compromised the perception of our public libraries as a welcoming and inclusive space for all.' He added that he had asked that policy be 'faithfully implemented' across Northern Irish libraries. Crystal, who appeared on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, said: 'It is very troubling and we need to push back against this kind of narrative.' They described such protests as recycled transphobia, comparing them to rallies against women wearing trousers in the mid-20th century. They said: 'It is a gross mischaracterization to say that drag is inherently sexual and always inappropriate for children. That is just not true. 'Most people in the UK are aware of that because they have taken their children to see panto and they have seen drag queens entertaining children in the past and they understand that it is very possible to have that art form in a family-friendly way.' Crystal, who has also performed at similar events, described them as 'any storytelling event that you would have for children, just that the books have a broader theme of inclusivity, self-love, and acceptance.' Drag is part of British, and Irish, and international culture. You might do some interactive games, ask them questions, things like that, but it is very kid-focused and it is very safe. 'It is nothing that you would not see in any school done by a 'normal' teacher.' Drag Queen story times have created protests across other parts of the UK, including one in Reading in 2022. On that occasion, protesters stormed the library, shouting and screaming while children listened to a story about a goat being bullied by a wolf.
