Katie McCabe's relationship with teammate 'still not over this' after win
Just days on from Arsenal's incredible Champions League final win, Katie McCabe has linked up with her Republic of Ireland teammates for the Girls in Green's upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes. Carla Ward's side face Turkey away from home on Friday before hosting Slovenia in Páirc Uí Chaoimh next Tuesday.
The Gunners defeated red-hot favourites Barcelona in Saturday's decider in Lisbon and returned to a victory parade in north London after winning the tournament for the first time in 18 years. McCabe played the full 90 minutes of the decider, while her partner Caitlin Foord was also on the pitch up until the 86th minute.
While McCabe has made her way to the Ireland camp, her Australian partner was still basking in Arsenal's success on Wednesday morning as she shared a number of photos from the victory parade on Instagram. Foord wrote: "Still not over this! Gooners this was special!!!"
The photos included a snap of McCabe and Foord celebrating together, while they were also pictured with the Champions League trophy both at the parade and on the flight home.
Tallaght native McCabe and Foord went public with their relationship last year after months of speculation that they were dating. The Ireland captain commented on a series of photos shared by Foord from a romantic break to Rome last May. She wrote 'Amore', which translates to love.
And McCabe took to Instagram last November to wish her partner a happy 30th birthday.
She wrote: "Dirty 30s." McCabe later added: "Happy birthday my Aussie girl."
Meanwhile, earlier this month, shortly before Arsenal's Champions League final win, the couple shared time in Dublin with McCabe's family. Sharing photos online at the time, the Irish star said: "Lots of family love."

Brian Dowling and Suzanne Kane's 98FM replacement hosts unveiled
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The new voices to grace the airwaves of 98FM taking over Brian Dowling and Suzanne Kane's slot have been announced. Big Brother icon Brian stepped away from the show last Friday, capping off a stint that lasted over two years. He shared the mic with Suzanne, who hopped on board in 2021 but had been missing from the airwaves since late February. For the sunny months ahead, Paul Ryder and Leanne Hanafin are set to steer the ship of the former pair's show on 98FM. Paul Ryder, a household name since dazzling Ireland on the talent scene with his drag performance on Ireland's Got Talent in 2018, is also known for guest presenting on Ireland AM and spinning tracks on 98FM during weekends, reports RSVP Live. Leanne, already familiar with the 98FM landscape through her longstanding involvement with the station, has been the go-to substitute for Suzanne Kane in recent times. Leanne broke the news this morning, saying on the broadcast: "Welcome to a brand new show on 98FM. We are so excited to be here with you." Paul chimed in: "We're here for the whole summer. We're going to have three months of absolute fun. We want you to be involved. It's as much your show as it is ours so we can't wait to get cracking." (Image: Instagram/Leanne Hanafin) Brian said his final goodbye to listeners last Friday. In his parting words to the followers of the show, he said: "I'm lucky enough that I meet our listeners on a daily basis. They are the salt of the earth, lovely people and I've had a laugh every single day. "I've never taken the job for granted. I've appreciated every day. I've been sat in front of this mic and I'm being myself. I don't regret any of it. I don't think you should have regrets in life. I took a risk actually taking the job on. I was living in Straffan in Kildare at the time and I don't drive. I've never worked in radio before. "I probably didn't give myself enough credit. I said, 'I signed up for this now and it's two years. What am I going to do?'". To anyone - I joined this show when I was 45 years old. Never be afraid to take a risk. Never be afraid to say yes. I said yes to something that I couldn't do, but I said that I was going to learn how to do it." Suzanne confirmed her departure from 98FM last week. A statement on her Instagram read: "After nearly 5 years, I'm stepping away from my role presenting 10AM to 1PM on 98FM. "Anyone who knows me, will know how much I adore radio and the Bauer family inside Marconi house, but for now, it's time to let the 'Good Times' roll for someone else. "A word to the amazing team, I loved the madness and radio nerdiness that we all shared and how much we cared. Radio is really special and that's because of the people who do the heavy lifting to make it all come together. I'm glad to have been on this rollercoaster with you all. "To everyone who listened to the show. I loved sharing my life and my kids with the soundest listeners on 98FM. We've been through a lot together and thank you for always turning up for me, it means more than any of you will know. "Lastly, a quick word to my kiddos Oisín, Hannah and Sadie. Thank you for letting me have a go of my dream radio job and playing ball every morning, even the really tough ones, so I could be in front of the mic by 10am and of course, [her husband] Joey. The voice of support, the constant, the reassurance, who always has the reminder 'We'll figure it out, we always do'. Onward to the next adventure." 'A total mind melt': Eileen Walsh on her 24-hour play at Cork Midsummer Festival
Cork actor Eileen Walsh is not afraid of a challenge. Fresh from her role in the acclaimed film Small Things Like These, which she starred in opposite her long-time friend and co-star Cillian Murphy, the 48-year-old is taking on a new theatrical feat that will test both her acting skills and her stamina. This weekend, she takes on the role of Virginia in The Second Woman at Cork Opera House during Cork Midsummer Festival, playing a seven-minute scene opposite the character of Marty, an intimate moment in which their relationship has lost its spark. The twist? She has never met the man playing Marty. Also, the scene repeats with a different actor each time, some of whom have never acted before. A hundred different men. And she has to do it for 24 hours straight. It begs the question: how can someone even prepare for that? 'It's been super intense but brilliant,' Walsh tells me after her first week of rehearsals. 'It's a total mind melt.' She says she has been primarily rehearsing with one actor who pitches different emotions and energies for her to work with, as well as some acting students. The show's Australian creators, Nat Randall and Anna Breckon, have been a great guide for her. 'The two women who are directing it, Anna and Nat, they've done it so many times before, so they know exactly how to lead you through the whole thing. 'Anna and Nat will give him a direction to come in and be scared, or totally over the top, or whatever. He's been amazing, but nothing is like the actual people who are coming in. They have seven minutes to do their best shot. It's mad. It's totally mad. It's kind of exhausting dealing with their nerves and adrenaline." 'Exhausting' seems the only word for it. Sleep deprivation could be a curveball, and Walsh has resisted the urge to pull an all-nighter to see how she fares. 'I love my sleep, I don't know why the hell I'm doing it,' laughs the actress from Quaker Road, but she points out that there are times in our lives when the adrenaline kicks in and we can power through extreme tiredness. She feels The Second Woman will work like that. The actress isn't the only member of her family preparing for a massive undertaking this month. 'Ethel is my youngest, and she's doing her Junior Cert at the moment, so it's really full on,' she says. Walsh thinks her experience of early motherhood will help prepare her for the physical and mental challenge of exhaustion. 'Maybe you're meant to play it in a dream moment. I know when I had my first baby, Tippy, in particular, the first four weeks after she was born, you're in this vortex where you're not sleeping and you're trying to produce milk and your body's all over the shop. I kind of look forward to that, that out-of-body experience.' This marathon theatrical event comes two weeks after the Cork City Marathon saw runners fill the streets, and there are obvious parallels in the preparations. 'I think it is very similar to that. By day two of rehearsals, it was four people, and then we did seven people, and then today was eight people. I think by the time we do a dress run, that's going to be the longest we'll do. I don't know how long that will be, but it won't be the full extended thing until the marathon day.' Cork Midsummer Festival 2025 Walsh credits exercise like yoga as essential in her preparation, and said her sister in Australia told her once about the 'runner's wall', something that feels like a physical and mental barrier. 'She kept saying to me, if you can give birth, you can do anything. She was saying when you're running, there will be a 'wall' and once you're through that 'wall', it just gets easier. It might be hard, but then there'll be that breakthrough. 'Particularly with Sackies [her instructor at Yoga Republic in Ballintemple, Sackies Skalkos], it's about allowing yourself to go through that wall, which is brilliant for this as well. It just reminds you that you're strong, that you are in the body you're in, but actually, that can be strong too.' In this acting undertaking of a lifetime, Walsh says her 24-hour schedule has short comfort breaks built in for about five minutes each, and when it comes to meals, she's eating them on stage. Once her acting marathon finishes hours are over, Walsh says she intends to meet friends who are coming to Cork to see the play before being driven up to Dublin by her Scottish husband Stuart McCaffer. The 24-hour performance is sure to present a few challenges along the way, but Walsh seems to be relishing the experience. 'I'm looking forward to the journey of it, and then I bet you afterwards, I'll be riding on adrenaline,' she says. The Second Woman runs at Cork Opera House, as part of Cork Midsummer Festival, from 4pm on Saturday, June 14, to 4pm on Sunday, June 15. Tickets can be purchased for the entire 24-hour performance, or for shorter segments Read More Louise O'Neill among writers pushing the boundaries of theatre at Cork Midsummer Festival

Manchester City sign Wolves left-back for £31m
MANCHESTER CITY HAVE completed the signing of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves. The 24-year-old Algeria international has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after the clubs agreed a fee of £31million. He becomes City's first major signing of the summer, with AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders also set to join. Ait-Nouri will be eligible for the upcoming Club World Cup later this month, with City also looking to get Reijnders done in time. 'I am incredibly happy and honoured to have joined Manchester City. City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the chance to play for the club is a dream come true,' he said. Advertisement 'I am also so excited about working with and learning from Pep (Guardiola) and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world class group of players. 'I'm young and I came here to improve a lot. I need to learn and improve my football for sure – it's why I chose this big challenge. 'I know I can improve my football and being in these kind of conditions with this team and this manager, for sure I will improve my football.' 'Rayan is a player that as a club we have been following closely for quite some time and we are delighted he has joined us,' said director of football Hugo Viana. 'He already has extensive Premier League experience and has also demonstrated his quality at international level with Algeria. 'We feel sure that he will be an excellent addition to our squad and that working alongside Pep and his coaching staff will help develop his game even further. 'And at just 24 he is someone we feel sure will help us in our objective to bring more success to the club.' Veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson is to leave the club when his contract expires this summer. The 39-year-old made just two senior appearances in a six-year stint but was involved in squads that collected 12 trophies, including the Champions League in 2023. Ait-Nouri has spent five years at Wolves, initially arriving on loan from Angers before signing permanently for £14.9m in 2021. He is City's first left-back specialist since Benjamin Mendy, who played his final game for the club almost four years ago. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Joao Cancelo, Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol and – most recently – Nico O'Reilly have been among the players to fill the position since.
