Flavio Nazinho fits Celtic transfer bill as Brendan Rodgers 'targets' Kieran Tierney back up solution

The former Sporting CP kid is currently with Cercle Brugge in Belgium after making the move from Portugal last year
Cercle Brugge left back Flavio Nazinho is reportedly a transfer target for Celtic.
The 21-year-old Portuguese would solve a problem for Brendan Rodgers, who is looking for a Kieran Tierney understudy following Greg Taylor' s departure to greek outfit PAOK.

With Tierney certain to be Rodgers' first choice at left back, a younger back up with potential to develop and slot in when Tierney is needed at left centre back is what's required and Nazinho seems to fit the bill.

Nazinho came through the ranks at Sporting CP, who the Hoops play next week in a pre-season friendly in Lisbon before flying home to face Newcastle United.
They would be due 15 per cent of any fee received by Cercle Brugge if a deal is done.
The Belgians paid €1million for Nazinho last summer, with another €1million potentially due in add-ons.
Nazinho played 39 times in all competitions last term as Cercle finished runners up in the Jupiler Pro League.

Viktor Gyokeres lists five reasons he chose Arsenal as Gunners finally complete transfer

Arsenal have confirmed the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP and the Sweden international can't wait to get to work under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League Viktor Gyokeres simply felt that Arsenal were the right club for him to take the next step in his career and is relishing the prospect of giving supporters something to cheer this season. The striker completed a £63.7million transfer and has committed to a long term deal at the Emirates following his move from Sporting CP. ‌ Gyokeres, 27, was among the most talked about players of the summer having been linked to a series of clubs. But a transfer proved far from easy as he fell out with Portuguese champions Sporting over the fee he would be permitted to leave for. ‌ Arsenal eventually came to an agreement for his signature and ended their search for a goalscorer having opted to move for Gyokeres over RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. And it appears Gyokeres did not require much convincing to provide his signature to the Gunners. ‌ The Sweden international, who bagged 54 goals last season, spoke effusively of why he committed to north London and listed reasons from the impact of Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta to the strength of the club and their style and Arsenal's history and fanbase. "I just felt that it was the right club for me," he said after signing. "What I heard from Mikel and Andrea when I was speaking with them, and just what I've seen in the past years, how they've been playing football. When I was playing against Arsenal last season, I could really feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against. "That made me choose Arsenal, and of course all the history the club has and the massive fanbase. It's been amazing to see all the support that they have already given me before I even arrived. That's what it's all about. It's going to be very nice to see them in the stadiums as well." Unsurprisingly, Arsenal's new no.14's mind is already on finding the back of the net. After struggling in his previous spell in the Premier League with Brighton, Gyokeres wants to put things right. "I always want to score,' he said. 'To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can't wait. It will be an amazing feeling. ‌ "I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I've improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team. "It's a big honour to play for your country, and then to score goals for them is amazing. When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well. Now to come here to a club on Arsenal's level, I think it's going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I'm really excited to get going."

Mikel Arteta explains why Arsenal were so determined to finally complete Viktor Gyokeres deal

Viktor Gyokeres has sealed his move to Arsenal as the Gunners completed a deal £63.7million to finally land Mikel Arteta a goalscorer and continue a busy summer of business Mikel Arteta has lauded the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after Arsenal confirmed the £63.7million transfer. The Sweden international has signed a long term deal with the Gunners after participating in one of the transfer sagas of the summer. ‌ Gyokeres, 27, went on strike in order to try force Sporting CP into accepting a lower transfer fee that he claimed they had agreed today. This led to the Portuguese club's president Frederico Verandas releasing a stunning statement saying he would not be blackmailed. ‌ Ultimately, Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya — a key figure in the disagreement — decided to waive his fee so that Arsenal could come to an agreement with Sporting. ‌ But Gyokeres offers the north London side something they have seemingly lacked for much of Arteta's tenure in charge — a goalscorer. The ex-Coventry and Brighton forward bagged 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting and Arsenal will hope he can replicate that kind of form in the Premier League. "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyökeres to the club," Arteta said. "The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves. 'Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat. 'We're excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him. We welcome Viktor and his family to Arsenal." Sporting director Andrea Berta offered a similar number of superlatives for their new signing. The Italian outlined three areas that makes Gyokeres an ideal addition to Arsenal's vision and believes the forward will have an impact on and off the pitch. ‌ "We are so pleased with the excellent deal we have completed to bring Viktor Gyökeres to the club," he said. "Viktor is an exceptional talent and has consistently demonstrated he has the qualities and winning mentality required of a top-level centre-forward. His physicality, intelligence and work ethic make him a perfect fit for our vision. 'We are confident Viktor will have a major impact on the pitch and become an important figure in our dressing room. Welcome, Viktor!'

Arsenal complete signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres for £55m

The 27-year-old Sweden international, who fired Sporting to the title last season with 39 goals and netted a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City, is understood to have signed a five-year deal at the Emirates. Gyokeres' transfer, which could end up costing the north London club as much as £64m with performance-related add-ons, takes Arsenal's close-season spending to the region of £200m. This is where you need to be. Viktor Gyökeres is a Gunner ✊ — Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 26, 2025 He becomes Mikel Arteta's sixth summer signing and follows defender Cristhian Mosquera (£13m), midfielder Martin Zubimendi (£60m), goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5m), midfielder Christian Norgaard (£10m) and forward Noni Madueke (£48.5m) in moving to the Emirates. A statement from Arsenal read: 'We are delighted to announce that Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres has signed for us on a long-term contract.' Gyokeres will be expected to meet up with his new team-mates in Arsenal's ongoing pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong. The Gunners face Newcastle in the Singapore National Stadium on Sunday ahead of the concluding game of their tour, against Tottenham in Hong Kong on July 31. Manager Arteta said: 'Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat. 'We're excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him.' Gyokeres moved to Brighton from Swedish side Brommapojkarna in January 2018, but spent time on loan at St Pauli and then Swansea and Coventry, before making a permanent move to the Sky Blues in July 2021. After Coventry were beaten on penalties by Luton in the 2023 Sky Bet Championship final at Wembley, Gyokeres completed a £20.5m switch to Sporting. He scored a remarkable 97 goals in 102 matches for the Portuguese side. Arsenal spent the concluding months of last season without a recognised striker following long-term injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Even before then, Arsenal were in desperate need of a reliable scorer, and Arteta will hope his new signing can fire him to his first silverware since he won the FA Cup in 2020, and end the club's two-decade wait for a Premier League title. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has brought in a couple of new signings during the summer window to strengthen his squad (Adam Davy/PA) Arsenal's new sporting director, Andrea Berta has wasted little time in strengthening a squad which has finished runners-up in the league for the past three seasons. Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also put pen to paper on new contracts in the off-season, with a long-term extension for teenager Ethan Nwaneri believed to be all-but completed. Berta said: 'We are confident Viktor will have a major impact on the pitch and become an important figure in our dressing room.'
