Fatal crash in southwest Missouri kills four; injures six others
VERNON COUNTY, Mo. — A fatal car crash in southwest Missouri left four people dead on Friday night, including three recent high school graduates.
The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Highway 54 in Vernon County when a Toyota Corolla with a 49-year-old driver and four passengers ages 38, 18, 19, and 21 crashed into a GMC Terrain driven by a 38-year-old also with four passengers ages 39, two 16-year-olds, and an 18-year-old.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Toyota Corolla failed to stop at an intersection near Highway 54 and struck the GMC Terrain.

Three women in the Toyota Corrola ages 18, 19, and 21 were killed, and the 38-year-old driver in the Terrian was also pronounced dead after the crash.
According to affiliate station KSNF, the three women have been identified by Climax Springs School District as Ava Wolfe, Jayden Butterfield, and Violet Corado. Wolfe and Butterfield were reportedly employees at the school district.
The three women were going home in the Toyota Corolla after a basketball game when the crash occurred, according to the school district.
The 49-year-old driver and 38-year-old passenger in the Toyota suffered from serious injuries. The 39-year-old passenger in the GMC also suffered serious injuries, and the two 16-year-olds and the 18-year-old suffered minor injuries from the crash.

'Written threat' at Lockport High School determined to be non-credible
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Lockport City School District says a 'written threat' that caused students and staff to evacuate on Friday afternoon was determined to be non-credible. No safety concerns were found, the district said. Lockport High School was evacuated shortly before dismissal Friday following a written threat found in one of the classrooms, according to Lockport City School District Superintendent Mathis Calvin III. The threat was written on a piece of paper and found on the floor just after 2 p.m. Staff brought the note to administrators. Both staff and students were evacuated to the Kenan Center down the street out of an abundance of caution. 'The Lockport City School District takes and treats issues such as this very seriously,' Calvin said. 'Every incident is fully investigated and we will follow and use our code of conduct when addressing situations such as this manner.' A full sweep of the school took place, as well as an investigation. Students were sent home and after school activities were canceled for the rest of the day. Calvin says all Lockport schools will reopen on Monday with an increased police presence on-site. The written threat comes just two days after a high school student made a similar non credible threat on TikTok, but Calvin says the two incidents do not seem related. Truck driver who searched how to smuggle drugs caught outside Las Vegas with 200 lbs. of cocaine, heroin: police
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A truck driver who searched the internet about how to smuggle drugs across the border faces charges after police arrested him outside Las Vegas with more than 200 pounds of cocaine and heroin, documents said. On May 9, police patrolling Interstate 15 south of Las Vegas arrested Mark Delarge, 49, of Alberta, Canada, following a traffic stop. A detective first stopped Delarge, who was driving a semitruck in Jean, for traveling an estimated 75 mph in a 55-mile-per-hour work zone, police said. The detective noticed Delarge, who said he was returning to Canada from California, was nervous 'because his hands were shaking,' documents said. The detective called for a narcotics detector dog to search the truck, police said. The dog alerted police to 'odors of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine.' Delarge then admitted there was cocaine in the vehicle,' documents said. 'Mark said that as he was traveling from Canada to Los Angeles, he had conducted an internet search for 'how to smuggle drugs across the border,'' police said. 'Mark began to go to different website[s] and eventually contact an individual on Facebook… who then agreed to have Mark pick up cocaine in the Riverside area and transport it back to Canada.' Inside the truck, police located several boxes of cocaine and heroin weighing a combined 201 pounds, documents said. A Clark County grand jury later voted to indict Delarge on four drug-trafficking-related charges, records said. During a grand jury return hearing, Clark County District Court Chief Judge Jerry Wiese set bail at $250,000. Delarge has remained in custody since his initial arrest. 2nd defendant arraigned in 2020 killing of convenience store clerk
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — One of two men facing murder and attempted robbery charges in connection with the shooting death of a convenience store clerk in 2020 was arraigned Monday afternoon. Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of Miles Clancy and his next hearing date was scheduled June 20. Clancy is being held without bail. Co-defendant Joseph Lee Aguirre was previously arraigned and is due back in court June 25. The shooting happened Oct. 14, 2020, at a convenience store at North Chester and McCord avenues. Man sentenced for deadly shooting of trespasser in Cal City neighborhood Two masked men entered the store and one of them immediately pulled a gun, according to court documents. The clerk grabbed a BB gun to defend himself and was shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects ran to a waiting black Toyota Corolla. The car was missing its rear license plate, but a review of surveillance footage showed the same vehicle had gone to the store earlier that day, its rear plate clearly visible, investigators said in court documents.
