
UP School Holidays: Educational Institutions To Remain Closed In Several Districts From July 16 To 23

Schools in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar will be closed due to the heavy crowds and traffic disruptions during the Kanwar Yatra 2025, which runs from July 16 to 23. Millions of Kanwariyas carry Ganga water and travel towards Shiva temples. All government and private schools and colleges in these areas will also remain closed to ensure student safety, necessitating reliance on online studies or alternative arrangements.
All schools in Ujjain Municipal Corporation area will remain closed every Monday from July 14 to August 11. Instead, classes will be held on Sunday. This will help in ensuring the safety of children during the Kanwar Yatra. Ujjain Mahakal will see a huge crowd of devotees from all over the country. All students and parents have been advised by the govt to check the status of their district and area before leaving for school tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in Haryana, all private schools will remain closed on July 16 in protest against the murder of a school principal in Hisar. This incident occurred at Kartar Memorial School in Hisar, raising safety concerns among the teacher community. These decisions have been made in both states considering the local conditions and public interest.
In Haryana, 10,760 private schools will remain closed on July 16, 2025 in protest against the murder of Jagbir Singh Panu, principal of Kartar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bas Badshahpur village of Hisar district. The murder has raised security concerns among the teacher community. The Private School Association of Haryana has demanded a special law for the safety of teachers. The decision to close the schools has been taken by Satyawan Kundu, president of the Private School Association, affecting the studies of students in private schools in Hisar and other areas for a day.

UP CM expresses grief over Barabanki stampede, announces aid of ₹5 lakh
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex gratia of five lakh for the bereaved families following the electrocution incident of Barabanki, which happened at 2 am today. The UP CM also directed the district administration officials to expedite the proper treatment of the injured and relief operations. His Office X account also shared a post that said the CM expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the unfortunate accident in Barabanki's temple. The post read, "Chief Minister Shri @myogiadityanath Ji Maharaj has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in an unfortunate accident at the Shri Avsaneshwar Mahadev Temple premises in Barabanki district and extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased." "Maharaj Ji has directed the district administration officials to expedite the proper treatment of the injured and relief operations. Maharaj Ji has prayed to Lord Mahadev, the Supreme Deity, to grant salvation to the departed souls and a speedy recovery to the injured," the post further added. Two people have died and over 30 others injured in a stampede-like situation after an electric wire fell on a tin shed, causing many people to come in contact with the live wire at a temple in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki early on Monday morning. The incident happened at the Awsaneshwar Mahadev temple at 2:30 am, where devotees had lined up for darshan on the third Monday of the holy month of Sawan. Those injured people were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Haidergarh and Trivediganj. "The incident happened in the Awsaneshwar temple at around 2-2.30 am. Some people came in contact with electric wires, which caused panic. A total of 29 people were brought to the Community Health Centre in Haidergarh. One of them was referred to the district hospital. His condition is out of danger. Nine people were taken to the community health centre Trivediganj, out of which two were brought dead and the remaining seven are out of danger," Chief Medical Officer Awadhesh Prasad said. "There were six more injured, who were taken to the community health centre... All have been discharged," he added. District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya reached the temple premises along with senior officers. DM Tripathi said, "Devotees came to Ausaneshwar Mahadev temple to offer prayers on Monday of the 'saavan' month. The electric wire broke and fell on the shed. Around 19 people were injured by electric shocks. The injured were taken to Haidergarh and Trivediganj Community Health Centre. Two people are in a critical situation and have been referred to the District law and order situation is normal here." Some monkeys jumped onto the overhead electric wires, causing them to fall onto the tin shed. Some of those injured were taken to the Trivediganj Community Health Centre, while a few others were referred to a higher medical facility due to their critical condition. On Sunday, a stampede took place at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar, claiming the lives of eight people and leaving 30 others injured. The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, when a large crowd of devotees was climbing nearly 800 steps to reach the hilltop shrine, according to officials. Upon receiving the information, personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the fire brigade arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered a magisterial inquiry and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed grief over the loss of lives and announced Rs 2 lakh financial aid for families of the deceased from Uttar Pradesh.

Chennai, Jul 28 (PTI) People have immense faith in Chief Minister MK Stalin and it will be the 'Dravidian model 2.0 regime" following a big win in the 2026 Assembly election, the ruling DMK said on Monday. The DMK's official organ 'Murasoli,' in a write-up referred to claims and counter-claims and speculations in the media in respect of the Assembly election due by March-April next year. While this was the scenario in the media, the reality is that Chief Minister Stalin follows a people-centric approach, the daily said and referred to a five-fold approach. Under the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu campaign,' the welfare schemes of the government are explained to the people and those desirous are being enrolled as DMK members. As regards the 'Ungaludan Stalin' outreach programme, the Dravidian party daily said the scheme is aimed at taking government services to the people and redress grievances by organising special camps in their neighbourhoods. Thirdly, the CM himself is touring districts, interacting with the people, including farmers and voluntary groups, and he receives representations from them and directs authorities to address them.
