Forgotten This Morning star 'dumped' by ITV for wild conspiracy rant

Daily Mirror02-07-2025
Emma Kenny was a regular presenter on This Morning until she was 'cancelled' after sharing her controversial views on coronavirus lockdown rules, which left her almost losing her family home
Former This Morning presenter Emma Kenny forged a new path after being 'cancelled' during the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this week she hit headlines after announcing the birth of her fourth child at the age of 52. Emma, a TV psychologist, is already a mum to two older children, Tyde, 22, and Evan, 20, as well as 23-month-old Etta Blue.

She has welcomed her newborn with her 34-year-old husband, Pete. Sharing a string of sweet posts, Manchester-based Emma took to Instagram to announce the arrival of her baby daughter Ella-Grey, saying: "Say hi Ella-Grey And then we were six!

"Say hello Ella-Grey! This morning she entered the world with a very loud cry. The Royal Bolton hospital have been fantastic and ensured that we have both been looked after brilliantly."
The new arrival comes after a tough time for the presenter in both her professional and personal life. Just a few weeks before she gave birth, Emma lost her mum 'suddenly'.
Explaining more about her loss, she said: "I lost my mum suddenly a couple of weeks back, and it's really strange knowing that neither of my babies will get to know their grandparents…..they would have loved them as older my boys did before them."
A few years earlier, Emma claims to have lost her presenting gig on This Morning due to her controversial views on coronavirus. She revealed she was left skint and almost lost her home after work dried up during lockdown.
The mum-of-four published a string of tweets sharing her anti-lockdown views on X, formerly Twitter. At the time, reports emerged that ITV bosses were unhappy with her conduct, which was denied at the time.

Emma sparked controversy when she declared she would ignore government guidelines and advice about protecting against coronavirus in the run up to Christmas. She was slammed for tweeting: "I'm going to have parties, see my friends, invite EVERYONE around!
"I'm going to visit elderly neighbours and take cake. I'm not wearing a mask and I'm going to do what as a human I was born to do… socialise.' While the tweets were subsequently deleted, the TV star was met with a furious backlash.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: 'Those at the top put up with it for a few months but it got to the point where the backlash was too much.' Responding to rumours about her absence from the daytime show, Emma took to Twitter to reveal she has recently signed a new contract with ITV.

She told her followers: "Just to make it clear I've just signed a new contract with This Morning and count the staff and many presenters as friends. Thanks for the messages of support. Xxxxxx. And a spokesperson for This Morning told the Mirror: "Emma Kenny is one of a host of expert contributors we continue to feature on the show."
However in a later interview with Johnny Seifert on Secure The Insecure podcast, Emma admitted that she suffered financially after being dropped and even consulted a crisis manager. She said: "I was cancelled. So it wasn't a thing of, 'I might be.' It happened. And it's the reality of working in a field where there is a safe space that you are allowed to remain in. And if you step outside of that, there are consequences."

The ordeal came at the worst time, as just days earlier, her father had died by suicide. As a freelancer, six days later she was back at work, but before long, her contracts were getting cancelled after she spoke out.
She continued: "I was also managing some of my family's struggles because people in my family just couldn't go back to work. I was helping manage that on a financial level. So there were all these things that were happening around me. And then COVID hit.
"When I started to speak out, it was really difficult because I started to get all my contracts cancelled. And then my husband, who is a very lovely man, he also knew that I was the person that really brings the income in.

"He works with me and he's amazing. Without him, I couldn't do what I do, but the point is it was me challenging our economic standard and I challenged it to the point where we nearly lost our home." Emma was advised by a PR consultant to apologise for what she said, but she refused.
Emma concluded: "I was told by a crisis manager to do things like take the vaccine live on TV. And I basically said that the consequence of that for me would be the end of my mental health. And also the end of my credibility as a human being for myself."

Not all was lost as Emma pivoted to narrating true crime stories and set up her own YouTube channel, Emma Kenny True Crime. Opening up in her new post, Emma revealed that she didn't think she could find happiness again after the tragedy with her father.
"When my dad took his life in 2019, I never thought I would be happy again, but in truth I couldn't have been more wrong, I've learnt we are more than simply built to withstand suffering, we are programmed to learn, and grow, and develop courage through it. I cannot change what happened but I can embrace the gifts that grief brought me," she wrote.
To conclude her post, she thanked those who had stood by her in the dark times. She said: "Thank you to all of you who have spent years supporting me. You stood beside me in the dark times and you gave me so many new career directions that these days I don't need invites off the MSM! Thank you, all of you, for so much more than you could possibly know xxx."
Emma had kept her fourth pregnancy underwraps until revealing the happy news just last week. Showing off her bump while filming herself stood in front of a mirror, Emma told her fans: "Last show before I give birth! 9 months pregnant, quite happy to go into labour on stage….so any of you with health care qualifications at my Killer Couples, Liverpool Empire show tonight please be prepared!
Revealing her plans to return to work in just a few weeks, she continued: "Back on stage in September…..but for now it's time for baby, 2 year old, filming YouTube and Facebook and going on a road trip to Italy the minute this babies fast track passport arrives! X."

He accessorised the outfit with a western-style black belt and silver buckle. Rod looked on cloud nine in the photos as he's seen dancing and singing his heart out to crowds. ‌ Fans were sent into a frenzy by Rod's post and flocked to the comment section to show their support for the star, the Express reports. "I have loved you since I was 5 years old, sitting in my brother's bedroom listening to your albums. I have seen you in concert close to 20 times." ‌ Sir Rod's tour comes just weeks after his incredible Glastonbury Festival performance. The 80-year-old headlined on the Sunday evening's Legend Slot, performing on the Pyramid Stage in front of hundreds of thousands of people. His fans were worried he would not be able to go ahead with his Glastonbury after he had to cancel multiple concerts earlier this summer after coming down with the flu. Rod cancelled six shows, four of which were in Nevada including two at Caesars Palace, as well as two in California. ‌ The singer took to Instagram at the time to say he was under 'strict doctor's orders' to rest his voice as he apologised for having to reschedule. He added: "I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu. However, Rod was full of energy and charisma when his Glastonbury slot came around.

They're food bandits, territorial & ignore owners – dog trainer shares 5 naughtiest breeds & they're all family faves

The dog expert reveals how to handle difficult dogs IF your pooch is pinching your dinner, gnawing your socks into shreds, or lunging at every passing stranger for a cheeky lick – you're not alone. From cheeky Labradors to headstrong Beagles, some breeds have earned themselves a reputation for being a little more spirited than others. Advertisement 6 Elizabeth is a dog training expert at Wellbeing Dogs Credit: Elizabeth J Maitland But according to dog training expert Rev Elizabeth J Maitland from Wellbeing Dogs, it might not be your dog who is misbehaving. In fact, it could be you. Elizabeth said: "Any dog can be naughty if it is misunderstood by its owner. "Most so-called bad behaviour is actually a sign your dog needs something – comfort, training, or attention." Advertisement Elizabeth, who now heads up Wellbeing Dogs, believes in building relationships based on choice and control, not punishment or frustration. But she admits there are certain breeds that can be a bit more of a handful, especially for first-time owners. Here, she reveals the dog breeds that might test your patience and why a little understanding goes a long way. Labrador Retrievers 6 Labradors are one of Britains most popular dogs Advertisement Golden, goofy and full of love, Labradors are one of Britain's favourite breeds but don't be fooled by those puppy-dog eyes. According to Elizabeth, Labs can be total 'food bandits'. 'Labradors are large dogs and can be challenging,' she explains. 'They'll jump up at kitchen shelves and grab the Christmas dinner right off the counter if you're not careful.' Advertisement Reality star slammed for animal cruelty as he admits he rehomed his pet dog because he's too busy being an influencer Their insatiable appetite and boundless energy mean they'll often be found with their paws somewhere they shouldn't, whether it's your dinner plate or your face. 'They're so friendly they'll literally try to kiss you on the lips,' Elizabeth says. 'But this behaviour can be managed. A halter can help with pulling or lunging, and positive training is essential.' With the right guidance, Labs make loyal and loving companions, but without it, they'll rule the roast. Literally. Advertisement Beagles 6 Beagles can be challenging Small in size but big in personality, beagles are known for their adorable floppy ears and detective-like noses. But their single-minded determination can drive owners up the wall. 'Beagles can be very obstinate,' says Elizabeth. Advertisement 'Once they're locked onto a scent, they'll do their own thing and calling them back is like asking a teenager to tidy their room.' They're independent thinkers and need mental stimulation, otherwise they'll make their own fun which usually involves chewing, digging, or disappearing after a squirrel. 'The trick is to channel their natural instincts,' Elizabeth advises. 'Give them scent games, trails, or puzzle feeders. Don't expect them to be lapdogs, they're born adventurers.' Advertisement Staffordshire Bull Terrier 6 Staffordshire bull terriers are territorial Staffordshire bull terriers, or staffies, are often misunderstood. While they have huge hearts and are loyal to the core, they also come with a bit of a bold streak. 'Staffies can be territorial and determined,' says Elizabeth. Advertisement 'They'll guard their toys, their food, and even their favourite spot on the sofa.' This isn't naughtiness – it's instinct. But without training and clear boundaries, Staffies can become demanding. 'The key is confidence and consistency,' Elizabeth explains. Advertisement 'Don't punish, guide them. They respond really well to affection and structure. They love to please, but they won't be pushed around.' Get it right, and you've got a cuddle monster who'll defend you with its life. Get it wrong, and they'll run rings around you. Cocker Spaniels 6 Cocker Spaniels can be chaotic Ask any Cocker Spaniel owner and they'll tell you they've got the cutest faces and the most chaotic energy. Advertisement 'They absolutely love people,' says Elizabeth. 'But they can become overwhelmed by too much attention or handling.' She recalls training her very first Recovery Assistance Dog – a golden cocker spaniel named Milli. 'She was loving but didn't like being constantly touched in public. Advertisement "We had to train her to gently say 'no thank you' – not with barking or growling, but by sniffing a hand first.' Cocker Spaniels are sensitive, clever and full of beans. They thrive on attention, activity and purpose, but without it, they can become anxious and unpredictable. 'They need to be busy and feel useful,' says Elizabeth. Advertisement 'A bored spaniel is a whirlwind waiting to happen.' Bulldogs 6 Bulldogs are strong willed dogs Bulldogs might look like they've just rolled out of bed, but don't be fooled, under those sleepy eyes lies a steely determination. 'Any type of bulldog can be very strong-willed,' Elizabeth says. Advertisement 'They'll dig their heels in, literally, if they don't feel like doing something.' Whether it's refusing to budge on a walk or ignoring commands, bulldogs have a mind of their own. But that doesn't mean they're bad dogs, they're just independent." 'They're very loving, very loyal,' says Elizabeth. Advertisement 'But you've got to learn how to motivate them. Food works. Praise works. But pushing them won't." While certain breeds may have traits that make them a little more cheeky or challenging, Elizabeth believes that most problems start with a lack of understanding between dog and owner. 'Dogs don't know right from wrong. They aren't being naughty on purpose,' she explains. Advertisement 'They're doing what comes naturally. It's up to us to help them learn what works and what doesn't in a way that makes sense to them.' Modern training, she says, isn't about shouting or punishing, it's about communication, kindness, and building a relationship where your dog feels secure. She added: 'A dog that's acting out isn't bad, they might just be trying to comfort you and need a little love themselves." So, the next time your furry friend chews your shoe, jumps on your guests or nicks a sausage off the side, take a breath. Advertisement The naughtiest breeds might just need the nicest touch.

She continued: "It's been a lot of hard work, but I've always stayed focused on my goals and believed in myself and I'm very thankful for ITV in believing me." As someone who grew up watching the show as a child, she knows what it's about and the position it has in the national consciousness. She said: "When I got the gig, I was over the moon! I grew up watching the show, and to be a part of it feels like such a huge achievement!"
