First look: Nicolas Cage is all set to play the most genre-defying, neo-noir Spider-Man yet

Hindustan Times14-05-2025

The Spider-Verse just got darker, and a lot more interesting. Nicolas Cage, the cult-favourite actor known for his eclectic roles, is officially stepping back into the Spider-Man universe. But this time, he's not just lending his voice. In a dramatic twist for the franchise, Cage will star in Spider-Noir, a live-action neo-noir series coming to OTT in 2026.
For fans of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this won't be Cage's first dance with the web. He previously voiced the moody, hard-boiled Spider-Man Noir in the Oscar-winning animated film — a black-and-white vigilante from an alternate 1930s reality. That version became a breakout favourite thanks to his dry wit, trench coat swagger, and deep moral code. Now, he's back but not just in voice, but in full fedora-wearing, shadow-hugging glory.
The first look gives fans a glimpse of Cage suited up in the character's now-iconic costume: white goggles glowing against a shadowy webbed mask, his trench coat billowing in the darkness. The show promises a faithful tone, drawing directly from the Spider-Man Noir comic books rather than the animated adaptation. Set in a hauntingly stylised 1930s New York, Spider-Noir follows an ageing, world-weary private investigator who once fought crime as the city's only superhero — but left that life behind. Now, faced with a city drowning in corruption and chaos, he must reckon with the ghost of the man he once was.
The series will be released in both black-and-white and colour, offering viewers a choice between classic noir aesthetics and a more modern visual tone — an ambitious stylistic decision that mirrors the duality of the character himself.
Though most details are under wraps, a leaked teaser has already ignited buzz online. It opens with a silhouetted figure standing above a rain-slicked skyline, Cage's gravelly voice narrating: 'Have you seen it? The city is a mess. The people could use a hero.' Quick cuts show a spider crawling across pavement, new mysterious faces, and the titular hero going hand-to-hand with armed thugs. The scene crescendos with a final, chilling shot: Spider-Noir's glowing white eyes illuminating in the dark, startling his prey. The teaser ends with a stark title card: Coming 2026.
While Spider-Noir shares DNA with Into the Spider-Verse, it stands alone in tone and scope — a noir detective story draped in spandex and shadow. It's less quips and quirk, more bruised knuckles and broken pasts. With Cage at the helm, this series promises a version of Spider-Man unlike any we've seen before — older, edgier, and soaked in noir cool; Spider-Noir could become one of Marvel's boldest genre experiments yet.

Zodiac Signs That don't speak much but feel everything

Some people express their frustration with rants, some take to social media with tweets, and then there are these specific zodiac signs. They're like emotional black holes disguised as introverts, bottling up more feelings than an entire Taylor Swift album, yet communicating their struggles as if they're starring in an Oscar-winning silent film. Cancer This sign is the CEO of saying "I'm fine" while, on the inside, they're intensely auditioning for a tragic monologue straight out of The Notebook . You might find them crying while watching cooking shows. They possess the uncanny ability to write an entire novel based on a single glance, but they absolutely won't tell anyone what's truly wrong until about six emotional earthquakes have already occurred. Scorpio Their emotional world feels like a dramatic telenovela. They will utter absolutely nothing, yet their intense glare could easily win a Golden Globe award. They guard their secrets like it's a sacred religion. A Scorpio will shed tears over a deep betrayal, but also surprisingly over something trivial like a broken shoelace, simply because it "felt symbolic" to them. Pisces Imagine a walking Pinterest board filled with emotions—that's a Pisces. While they might appear quiet on the outside, internally, they're emotionally binge-watching their past, present, and every hypothetical future scenario. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like One of the Most Successful Investors of All Time, Warren Buffett, Recommends: 5 Books for Turning... Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Click Here Undo They might pretend to be meditating, but in reality, they're probably just deeply daydreaming about conversations that never actually happened. Capricorn Known for their deadpan delivery, they often come across as emotionally constrained. While they feel everything profoundly, they express their emotions like a meticulously organized spreadsheet—cold, minimal, and usually presented with bullet points. They love very deeply, but they'd genuinely rather wrestle a bear than admit their feelings without the aid of a detailed PowerPoint presentation. Virgo A Virgo analyses emotions with the precision of an indie director editing a film—it's painstakingly detailed, and they're constantly questioning the script. An internal meltdown? Oh, absolutely. Verbal communication about it? Only if proper grammar and syntax are strictly observed. Aquarius They will confidently claim not to care about things. They're lying. Inside, they often feel like a rejected Pixar character grappling with a profound existential subplot. You might find them staring intently at the sky, pondering the fate of humanity, all while quietly mourning the tragic death of a fictional character from a 2002 anime. These particular signs are essentially the Academy Award winners of internal suffering. They'll flash a perfect smile in group photos, then spiral into a profound emotional state alone, almost as if they're acting out a scene from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind . Underneath their composed exterior, emotions run wild, but on the surface? You'll mostly get vague texts and a distant stare. Love & Loyalty: Decoding Men by Birth Month

February Behind that seemingly aloof, semi-detached, "I-don't-do-feelings" exterior is someone who actually writes intricate love stories in their head. These men fall for the very soul of a person, not just a fleeting smile. And once they do fall in love, good luck trying to get them to unlove you. They might outwardly pretend to move on, but emotionally? They're often still holding hands in the rain, just like a classic Nicholas Sparks ending. April Are they impulsive? Absolutely. Are they emotional pyromaniacs? Also, a definite yes. But when a man born in April loves, it's a true ride-or-die commitment—just with a bit more fire and a few less brakes. They might argue with the intensity of a soap opera finale, but they will always, always circle back. They're simply not wired for anything less than a full-hearted effort. July These men are like human diaries on legs. They feel absolutely everything and store it all away like an emotional playlist constantly on loop. Once a July-born man truly lets someone into his heart, that love settles in deeply, much like a stubborn wine stain on a white shirt—nearly impossible to wash out. Even when it hurts, they will continue to love with the unwavering intensity of a powerful Bollywood monologue. August These men are born with a leading role mentality, and they bring that same grandiosity to their love life. They are fiercely protective, incredibly generous, and love to shower their partner with attention and admiration. They might have a big personality, but their loyalty is even bigger. When an August-born man loves, he celebrates that love and makes his partner feel like the most important person in the world. October Charming, wonderfully balanced, and emotionally invested as if they've been studying love languages as a dedicated minor in university. Men born in October truly believe in fairytale endings—but their version often includes careful contracts, healthy compromise, and perfectly curated playlists. They might appear breezy and detached, but underneath that easygoing exterior is a man who will love forever… quietly, consistently, and probably always smelling of good cologne. December Jolly and outwardly cheerful on the surface, yet possessing a deep emotional complexity underneath, much like an Oscar-winning character arc. These men love with a childlike faith and an adult-level loyalty that's truly remarkable. They might flirt like it's their favorite sport, but when they genuinely fall in love? It's an all-in commitment. Expect their time, unwavering attention, full support—and yes, possibly even some wonderfully cheesy Instagram captions if it means bringing a smile to your face.
