'Entitled' woman wants to approve name for her grandchild but there's one problem

Daily Mirror5 days ago
When it comes to baby names, loved ones often shared their opinions with expecting parents - even if unwanted. One grandma-to-be insists has given an expecting couple a list of 'approved' names
A woman has shared their fury as their aunt and come up with a strict baby name list for her grandchild - and will give it to the parents-to-be. Choosing a name for your newborn is one of the most significant decisions new parents will make. Some have known from a young age what names they want to use, while others spend years thinking about it.

Some prefer traditional names, while others are inspired by their favourite celebrities or characters, and some desire their child's name to be the only one of its kind heard in the playground. What is for sure, is that everyone has different name likes and dislikes, and expecting parents are bound to receive unsolicited opinions.

But one family member is upset by the way her aunt has acted as her cousin and his wife as expecting a baby girl soon. She is fed up of her interfering with their choice of baby name. Anonymously, she explained in a Reddit threat recently what has happened.

She said her aunt has been acting "so ridiculous and entitled".
She said her cousin and his wife want to name their baby Summer, however at the expecting mother's baby shower she overheard that the aunt will be sending her son - the baby's father - a list of names "approved by her." But there's a problem - the baby's grandmother only likes "traditional" and "pretentious" names.
The annoyed cousin of the dad-to-be said: "Her kids all have very traditional WASP-y names (think Suzanne, Richard etc) so there is currently a secret betting pool among me, my mother and other aunt as to how vanilla and bland - or pretentious - the name will be, and whether or not her own name will be on the list."

She noted that other family members have even been putting bets on.
"Oh, we're going to need to see this list once you get your hands on a copy!," commented one. Another noted: "Luckily, unless auntie has custody of the child, her list will probably be unenforceable."
One shared what they would do in this scenario, and said: "I'd read the list just to make sure I would not accidentally choose any of the names on the list."

One suggested the couple should keep the peace, but ultimately choose a name they want. They suggested: "Well, that's nice. She can have a list. She can send it to him. He and his wife can thank her for the suggestions and disregard them."
One individual who can relate to this scenario, commented and said: "My sister gave me a list of names I was not allowed to use for my daughter's middle name. She tried to add the name Quinn to said list when our Grandma expressed how much she liked that name."
She added: "She was calling dibs on a bunch of girl names because she has her own issues and felt a need to control something. My pregnancy wasn't planned as I was really early 20s and not in a relationship with my daughter's father so I was already dealing with stress from my parents. I didn't fight when she initially made that list which was your more traditional names of Elizabeth, Grace, Marie, etc."
One pointed out: "I understand wanting to talk and discuss names for your grandchild, but, it should be in a nice way, not in a 'this is my list of approved names'."

Two new racers coming to Mario Kart World hints Donkey Kong credits

Fans have noticed the credits for Mario Kart World feature two Donkey Kong actors that aren't in the game yet, as hopes raise for a Nintendo Direct annoucement. Now that Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are out it's not entirely clear where the Switch 2 goes from here. Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 are major new releases but they're both cross-gen Switch 1 games. Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders have been announced but they're clearly both lower tier releases. Not only is it unclear what the next big Switch 2 game will be but it's also a mystery as to how Nintendo will treat Mario Kart World going forward. Clearly it will get DLC at some point, but will it work the same as Mario Kart 8 or, as new rumours suggest, will it be treated more like a live service game, with regular updates used to promote other Nintendo games. Nintendo, as ever, has said nothing, with no hint at any DLC at all. However, right from day one, players noticed that although even the most obscure character in the game has at least three costumes, Donkey Kong and Pauline only have two – their default and one other. This seems very peculiar given how prominent Bananza has made the pair, but it's so suspicious that many believe it's an indication that more will be released in order to promote Bananza. But if that's the case, why hasn't it happened yet? *** WARNING: Massive Donkey Kong Bananza spoilers beyond this point. Do not read on unless you've already beaten the game *** Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. There is no current answer as to why Nintendo hasn't announced new costumes for Donkey Kong and Pauline, but if they are going to do it then perhaps it will happen during the rumoured Nintendo Direct this month. But while the costume situation remains a mystery, fans have discovered something in the credits of the game which seem to point at a different Bananza-related addition. Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit noticed that the voice actors for main villain Void Kong and (this is the big spoiler!) King K. Rool are also credited in Mario Kart World. None of the Mario Kart World credits indicate what roles any of the actors play but all of the existing characters in the game already seem to be accounted for, so it's a mystery as to who Yuu Hayashi and Tsuguo Mogami are, or will be, voicing. More Trending That doesn't guarantee it'll be Void Kong and King K. Rool but it is hard to imagine this is all a coincidence and they're voicing two other completely different characters, that just don't happen to have been announced yet. What's much harder to guess at is whether there might be other characters from Bananza coming to Mario Kart World and whether other characters will be added as they get new games. Diddy Kong (who was already in Mario Kart 8), Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong are also in Bananza but they're all nominally part of the Super Mario universe. So what happens when Metroid Prime 4 comes out? Will Nintendo add Samus Aran to Mario Kart World at that point? It's impossible to say, but if there's not some kind of annoucement at the next Nintendo Direct, whenever that might be, it would now be more surprising than if there is. Battlefield 6 trailer countdown, release time and everything we know so far

It's official – we're getting our first look at Battlefield 6 this week with the release of the game's debut trailer. Find out when you can watch the Battlefield 6 trailer right here The much-anticipated return of the Battlefield series is on the horizon, with fans eagerly awaiting the first official trailer for this year's game, set to be unveiled on Tuesday, July 24. ‌ Battlefield enthusiasts are on tenterhooks for the Battlefield 6 trailer, which carries the weight of expectation following the disappointment of 2021's Battlefield 2042 – a title that failed to impress and marked the last face-off between Battlefield and Call of Duty. The prospect of Black Ops 7 clashing with Battlefield 6 promises to stir up some nostalgic excitement in the gaming community this year. ‌ Regrettably, the series has been on a downward trajectory, with recent instalments prior to Battlefield 2042 garnering lukewarm to poor critiques on Metacritic. On a personal note, I reckon Battlefield 3 was the last truly solid entry, and I've given up hoping for a revival of Bad Company, especially since we haven't seen a new addition since Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in 2010. ‌ While concrete details around Battlefield 6 are scarce, an open beta has been confirmed by the game's official Twitter feed, teasing that "Starting at Open Beta players can choose official playlists with Signature Weapons locked to class, or not". In a bold move, Battlefield Labs – the closed testing ground for Battlefield 6 – broke away from the traditional locked weapons system, which ensures players stick to their roles, opting instead for a more anarchic approach where any class can wield any weapon they fancy. In a bid to satisfy traditionalists, it launched Signature Weapons and traits, with a Reddit post from May providing more insight. Essentially, there are passive, class-specific traits, while certain classes will gain a class perk when using a weapon typically associated with that class – though anyone can use it. ‌ For instance, a Recon class player wielding a sniper rifle will be able to hold their breath (and stabilise their aim) for longer than an Assault class player using the same rifle. Despite players expressing their disapproval in the comments, it appears this overhauled class system will feature in the Battlefield 6 open beta. As for the open beta's launch date, the EA App disclosed the build date as Monday, August 4 (via Reddit), so we might see it go live sometime in August. We'll undoubtedly learn more tomorrow following (or during) the official Battlefield 6 trailer release, and here's precisely when that happens. ‌ Introducing All Out Gaming Introducing All Out Gaming, a dedicated gaming brand providing the best gaming news, reviews, previews, interviews and more! Battlefield 6 trailer countdown and release time ‌ The Battlefield 6 trailer is set to drop on Thursday, July 24, as confirmed by the game's Twitter account.. If you head over to the YouTube channel, the start time is scheduled for 7.57am PDT / 10.57am EDT / 3.57pm BST, but we've got the Battlefield 6 trailer countdown above for you to check how much time remains before it goes live in your area. We've embedded the YouTube video below, which should go live when the Battlefield 6 trailer is released on Thursday, July 24. The release date for Battlefield 6 may be revealed in the upcoming trailer, along with details about the open beta. However, according to rumours and leaks, the game is slated for an October 10, 2025 launch. This information comes from the 1BF Telegram Group (via Reddit), which mines data from Battlefield Labs for tantalising tidbits. Dataminer @temporyal has also contributed to the speculation, suggesting that while Battlefield 6 won't be free-to-play, it will feature a free-to-play battle royale mode - because we clearly don't have enough of those games around, do we?
