Peacemaker: James Gunn Teases John Cena vs. Batman in DCU
Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU officially kicked off last December with the animated Creature Commandos series. Gunn's Superman movie is now being released in United States theaters next month before Peacemaker Season 2, which is part of the new shared DC universe, arrives in August 2025.
At CCXPMX 25 this past weekend, per ComicBookMovie, Cena and Gunn were both asked who they'd like to see Cena's Christopher Smith character fight at some point in the DCU.
While Cena didn't have an answer, Gunn said that he wants Peacemaker to fight Batman at some point.
At this time, it's not clear who will be playing the Dark Knight in the DCU, as no official casting announcement has been made. A Batman movie titled The Brave and the Bold is currently in the works and is being directed by The Flash's Andy Muschietti, though there haven't been a lot of substantial announcements since that project in some time.
Peacemaker Season 2, meanwhile, premieres on HBO Max on August 21, 2025. The season will have eight episodes in total.
'The new season follows Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost,' the official logline reads.
Along with Cena, the cast of Peacemaker Season 2 includes Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, Michael Rooker as Red St. Wild, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Filion as Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord.

‘Shin Godzilla' is coming to HBO Max
In other words, it was fun to watch with a room full of other people getting a kick out of the mundanity of bureaucracy in action inside the world of a monster movie. But if you can't get to the Somerville Theatre, where Advertisement The list of movies comes courtesy of the streamer's partnership with the distributor GKIDS, and also includes the beloved animated film, 'Your Name.‚' about a young man and woman who swap bodies, as well as a series of films getting their North American streaming debut, such as 'Shin Godzilla' director Hideaki Anno's 'Love & Pop,' about a teenage girl who's dating older men for money (Anno is also know for creating the beloved anime series, 'Neon Genesis Evangelion'). Advertisement 'Shin Godzilla' won't be part of the first batch of movies hitting HBO Max on Sept. 1, but it's worth keeping an eye out for it. I'm a big proponent of seeing things in theaters when you can for the communal experience, but catching it on HBO Max is still a fine option. Lisa Weidenfeld is an arts editor at the Globe. End of a Green Delusion
Get out your notepads, social scientists. A 'preference falsification' bubble is about to go pop in the realm of climate policy. The term comes from Duke University's Timur Kuran, for when people feel pressured to adopt and exhibit ideas they don't believe in. One such bubble was born under near-laboratory conditions in December 2008. The incoming Obama administration decided, with Republicans vacating the White House, the 'existential' threat of climate change no longer merited unpopular energy taxes. Subsidies to its green-energy cronies would suffice.
