On an average day about a dozen new games are released on Steam. And while we think that's a good thing, it can be understandably hard to keep up with. Potentially exciting gems are sure to be lost in the deluge of new things to play unless you sort through every single game that is released on Steam. So that's exactly what we've done. If nothing catches your fancy this week, we've gathered the best PC games you can play right now and a running list of the 2025 games that are launching this year.
Everdeep Aurora
Steam ‌page‌ ‌Release:‌ July 10Developer:‌ Nautilus Games
People keep comparing this gorgeous platformer to games from the Game Boy Advance era, which isn't wrong, but it feels closer to something you might have found on an Amstrad Action cover mount back in the '80s, albeit with a higher pixel count. Set underground in the aftermath of an apocalypse, you play as Shell, who is—and this is important—a cat. Shell's mother is missing, so she needs to dig deeper and deeper into the unknown to find her. Naturally, things get more bizarre and dangerous the further she gets. This is ostensibly a platformer, though it has a lot of mining, making Steamworld Dig an obvious reference point.
Dread Flats
Steam‌ ‌page‌Release:‌ July 11Developer:‌ Ghostcase
Everdeep Aurora may be cute, but the rest of this week's column is consistently morbid. Dread Flats is probably the worst offender: it's a first-person horror about exploring a "murder building". Set in 1990s China, it's definitely exploration-forward: you'll spend the majority of the game poking around in a big residential tower block that has seen better days (to be extremely euphemistic about it). The residents we meet are pretty effed up, as the trailer makes abundantly clear, so expect a lot of panicked running or, if you're smart, a fair bit of stealth.
Last Report
Steam‌ ‌page‌ ‌Release:‌ July 12Developers:‌ Moonpixel GamesAnother horror game, this time in the form of a point 'n' click adventure. You play as a night shift park ranger who notices some pretty unsettling stuff on the CCTV. Via exploration, conversations with fellow park rangers (all of whom are a bit suss themselves), and the monitoring of camera footage, the disturbing history of the park unfolds. It looks like a mix of Five Nights at Freddy's and Firewatch.
Occlude
Steam pageRelease:‌ July 11Developer:‌ Tributary Games
It's an occult card game, basically, but with a "reality-bending" narrative and a cryptic, challenge-based approach to familiar rules. Judging by the Steam description, I think the less you know about Occlude the better, but it heavily emphasises secrets and mysteries. If Balatro is hauntological poker, I guess this is eldritch solitaire? I don't really play card games, but if you do, this seems like it's trying something new.
Azrael's Tear
Steam‌ ‌page‌ ‌Release:‌ July 12Developer:‌ Intelligent Games Ltd., Ken Haywood
There are few things that excite me more than forgotten, vaguely cursed-looking '90s PC games, and Azrael's Tear is a perfect example. Originally released on CD-ROM in 1996, it's set in the distant future of 2012, and follows the protagonist's search for the Holy Grail in a mysterious underground sanctum that seems far more technologically advanced that it should be. I've never played this, but it has an approach to first-person exploration that feels akin to something like Ultima Underworld or System Shock, but with a heavier emphasis on puzzles and problem-solving.

Huge news for base organisers and decorators, Minecraft's next drop will add shelves

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. In a recent snapshot shared to the Minecraft website, a couple of new features for the game's next drop have been revealed. Much like the Copper Golem, one of these additions is also designed to make organising your base a lot more convenient. Rather than sifting through a room of chests, you'll now be able to craft shelves to display your items, which is huge news for anyone who runs into their base, fills their pockets, and immediately leaves again. Or, those who just want to make their house feel a bit more like a home rather than relying on paintings to decorate the walls. Each shelf "block" can hold three items to start, and from the screenshot featured on the blog post, it looks like these can be crafted out of numerous materials too. So, don't worry, you'll be able to craft a shelf to suit the aesthetic of your base. Whether that's cherry wood holding your tools, or spruce wood holding all the monster parts you've collected from night time adventures. You can also power these shelves with redstone, which opens up a few more functions for you to utilise. When interacting with a powered shelf, you'll be able to swap out all three items at once rather than individually. Powered shelves next to each other will also connect to form much longer shelves, and yes, you'll be able to swap out all of these items at once with a single button press too. A new function for Copper Golems was also revealed, but there's less of an emphasis on organisation and more on decoration. Over time, your Golem will oxidise, and once they reach the maximum oxidation level they will turn into statues for you to decorate your base with. There are four poses your golem could hold for the rest of time too which yes, you can change if you interact with it. If you want to get a little more work out of them though, and you need the extra pair of hands sorting your chests, you can wax them to bring them back to life. Unfortunately, we still don't have a name or a release date for this drop. Although the new features are available for testing within Bedrock Edition, I imagine it will still be a while before we see them added to the game. If you're a Java player, these features will be coming to test soon, too.

'The D N Lee Combo Is 5 For 5': Spike Lee Hyped Up His First Denzel Washington Movie Since Inside Man With A Very On Brand Message

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's hard to believe that director Spike Lee and actor Denzel Washington have only made five films together, but I'd be lying if I said otherwise. The fifth is set to release as part of the 2025 movie schedule, as Highest 2 Lowest marks the first collaboration between the titans since 2006's Inside Man. With a new trailer released to get the crowd ready for what to expect, Lee has also taken the time to write a totally fitting tribute to his frequent leading man. We now have a longer look at the A24/Apple TV+ subscription title (which debuts in theaters on August 15th), and the remake to Akira Kurosawa's High and Low appears to be worth the wait. Showing us Washington's record mogul David King seemingly on top at the start, sour notes start to land in his life before you know it. Which is the total opposite of the vibe you'll get from reading Spike Lee's Instagram caption, shared below: Here It Is The Full Trailer For My Spike Lee Joint HIGHEST 2 LOWEST. Coming To Theaters August 15th, Streaming September 5th On Apple TV. The 'D N Lee Combo' Is 5 For 5 - MO' BETTER BLUES (1990), MALCOLM X (1992), HE GOT GAME (1998) INSIDE MAN (2006) And Now HIGHEST 2 LOWEST (2025) And Dat's DENZEL N' SPIKE TRUTH,RUTH. YA-DIGSH-NUFF You've gotta love when friends like these absolutely gas each other up in the press. As far as that five picture run is concerned, Washington has been part of some of the most acclaimed pictures on Lee's resume. Though that's not to overlook the current run of streaming heaters the Crooklyn director has been putting out. In fact, some of Spike Lee's most socially relevant movies have been platform based originals like Prime Video's Chi-Raq and Netflix's Da 5 Bloods. That makes this reunion even more fruitful, as Washington can now be added to the roster of recent hits banked by Brooklyn's cinema hype man. Apple TV Plus: $9.99 A Month With 7-Day TrialSave 70% - For 7-days, you can start a free trail for an Apple TV+ subscription - just in time for Highest 2 Lowest's September 5th streaming debut. However, for as little as $9.99 a month, you can also watch hits like Severance, Slow Horses, Silo, and Prime Target ; as well as the library of Apple Original Films of past, present, and future. Offer available globally, prices Deal But of course, the wait between Inside Man and this new movie is one that fans have been braving for a while. You could see that as Lee's message accompanying Highest 2 Lowest's teaser acknowledged that 'hella long' wait. That seems to be a specialty for Apple Original Films, as around this same time last year the platform delivered the George Clooney/Brad Pitt reunion we know as Wolfs. What's even more fitting is that yesterday Spike Lee posted another clip to his social media, one that may have been his tip off that a new Highest 2 Lowest look was coming. Sharing the snippet of Mo' Better Blues you see below, the Atlanta-born filmmaker threw us all the way back to the beginning of his professional relationship with Denzel Washington: As if the fan hype for Highest 2 Lowest wasn't enough, you've also got stories like ASAP Rocky's experience working with Mr. Washington, which only stoke those flames all the more. It's probably a good thing that audiences won't have to wait too much longer before they can catch Highest 2 Lowest, and with two very different options available. You'll be able to try and find the picture at a theater near you, as its theatrical release starts on August 15th. However, Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to partake in the reunion of Spike Lee and Denzel Washington soon after, as it will hit the streaming platform on September 5th.

As the Spider-Man 4 set photo deluge continues Tom Holland shares first official pictures, and fans are loving the new costume

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day now filming, we finally got a full look at Tom Holland's suit with the mask, and it's sending fans into a frenzy. Thanks to Glasgow locals flooding social media with leaked set photos, we've been able to see Spider-Man's new look from every angle possible, and it's everything we were hoping for. As many fans have noted, the new suit seems to draw inspiration both from Tobey Maguire's early 2000s suit and Andrew Garfield's version in The Amazing Spider-Man. We are particularly excited to see the raised webbing coming back to the design, as the character leaves his high-tech era behind and goes back to his humble origins as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. In a brief video released over the weekend, Holland revealed a first look at Spider-Man's new suit, minus the mask, getting ahead of the leaks from set that we saw shortly afterwards. Following the set photo deluge, he also shared an official first look at the whole suit, writing in the caption: "Spider-Man Brand New Day 1". As filming continues, we might be able to see first look footage from some very exciting cast members, some of them announced only a few days ago. Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise his role of The Hulk, making it his first MCU appearance since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, while Michael Mando is coming back as the Scorpion after debuting as one of the bad guys in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Holland will also be joined by Jon Bernthal's The Punisher, following his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, and returning characters MJ and Ned, played by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is also part of the cast, but her role is still a mystery. An official synopsis is yet to be revealed, but we expect the story to pick up from the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending, which saw Peter Parker's existence erased. After facing colossal challenges alongside the Avengers, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige promised recently that Brand New Day will be focused on "street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events." Spider-Man: Brand New Day is releasing in cinemas on July 31, 2026. For more, here is our complete guide to upcoming Marvel movies and all the projects included in Marvel Phase 6.
