Rohit Shetty's Surprise Cameo In Son of Sardaar 2 Leads To Golmaal 5?
Rohit Shetty's surprise cameo and a Golmaal 5 tease add spark to Ajay Devgn's latest comedy.
Ajay Devgn's much-awaited comic entertainer Son Of Sardaar 2 hit theatres on August 1. The sequel comes 12 years after the first film and brings back the fun and energy of the original. While fans were excited for the film's humour and star cast, they were in for an extra treat: a surprise appearance by director Rohit Shetty.
Shetty, known for his action-packed and comedy blockbusters, appears unexpectedly in the film, as per Bollywood Hungama. Viewers get a small clue before he shows up on screen, and the moment is said to be one of the film's highlights. What makes it even more interesting is that his cameo has a subtle link to the upcoming Golmaal 5, which he is directing.
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have a long history of hit films together. From Zameen in 2003 to Singham Again in 2024, they have worked in 12 movies. Golmaal 5 will be their 13th.
The buzz around it is likely to grow after Shetty's surprise entry in Son Of Sardaar 2. This strong partnership has produced fan favourites like Golmaal, Singham, Bol Bachchan and Sooryavanshi. Their consistent success has made them one of Bollywood's most loved actor-director duos.
What's New in Part 2
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son Of Sardaar 2 also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Kubbra Sait and many others, including the late Mukul Dev. The film is backed by Devgn Films and Jio Studios.
The original Son Of Sardaar (2012) starred Ajay, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla. That film had a popular cameo by Salman Khan, which was revealed before its release. In contrast, Rohit Shetty's cameo in the sequel was kept under wraps.
Box Office and Streaming Plans
Son Of Sardaar 2 clashed at the box office with Dhadak 2. While the film has reportedly received mixed reactions, some viewers have appreciated its humour and performances, while others felt it didn't live up to expectations.
The film was originally set to release on July 25 but was postponed by a week, reportedly due to the success of Saiyaara. After its theatrical run, Son Of Sardaar 2 will stream on Netflix.

Kajol Channels Tanuja On 50th Birthday, Greets Paps In Classic Black And White Saree
Kajol turned 50 on August 5 and looked like a spitting image of her mother Tanuja as she greeted paps in a white and black saree with a retro hairdo. Kajol turned 50 on Tuesday, August 5, and marked the milestone with grace, style and nostalgia. The actress stepped out of her Mumbai residence to greet the paparazzi waiting outside, and her look immediately caught attention. Draped in a classic white saree with a shimmering black border and a black blouse, Kajol bore a striking resemblance to her legendary mother, veteran actress Tanuja. Her look was completed with a retro middle-parted ponytail and minimal makeup, allowing her natural features to shine. She wore statement earrings and a ring, while keeping her accessories subtle. Kajol's warm smile and confident wave to the cameras made fans nostalgic for the golden era of cinema with many calling her a spitting image of Tanuja from her younger days. The visual homage to her mother didn't go unnoticed, and social media was quick to draw comparisons, with fans posting side-by-side images of Tanuja in her youth and Kajol's birthday look. Earlier in the day, Kajol's husband, actor Ajay Devgn, took to Instagram to post a birthday message filled with love and humour. Sharing two monochrome photos of Kajol — one from her youth and another recent click — Ajay wrote, 'Could say a lot but you would still roll your eyes. So… happy birthday, favourite Kajol." In February, Kajol had also shared a birthday post for Ajay, joking, 'All the cool people were born in August, but we don't mind wishing you a happy birthday 😉 …. thank u for always being older than me." Kajol and Ajay Devgn tied the knot in 1999 and are parents to two children – Nysa and Yug. On the work front, Kajol was last seen in the supernatural thriller Maa, while Ajay's latest release Son of Sardaar 2 hit theatres recently. Kajol's upcoming project Maharagni: Queen of Queens is also generating buzz. First Published: August 05, 2025, 22:33 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
