Man arrested after recovery of multiple drugs in Lyons traffic stop
According to New York State Police, Tony E. Hickey Jr., 54, was stopped by troopers Monday night around 11 p.m. after failing to use a signal when driving onto Rt. 31 and then speeding. He was stopped on Warncke Road in Lyons.
During the traffic stop, troopers said they discovered several illegal drugs:
~117.1g of crack cocaine.
~4.3g of an unidentified controlled substance
~13.5g of buprenorphine
It's alleged he also had digital scales and money at the time of the traffic stop.
Hickey was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second and third degrees and was taken to the Wayne County Jail. As of Tuesday night around 9 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff's Office website indicated he was still in custody.

Bath man accused of giving alcohol, sexually abusing teen
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Bath man is accused of providing alcohol to a juvenile and engaging in sexual contact with her, according to New York State Police. Police say the incident happened the night of July 30. Investigators allege Coby R. Causer, 25, gave alcohol to the girl before the sexual contact occurred. Causer was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated sexual abuse, third-degree rape, unlawful dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child. Dad pleads not guilty to murder of 9-year-old daughter after claiming she was kidnapped
A Montreal man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to the murder of his 9-year-old daughter after claiming she was kidnapped while vacationing in New York. Luciano Frattolin, 45, was indicted Tuesday on charges of murder and concealing a corpse but has maintained his innocence. He reported his daughter, Melina Frattolin, missing on July 19. He told authorities Melina vanished from a parking lot near Lake George in the Adirondack region. An Amber Alert was issued, and a multi-agency search, which included K-9 and aviation units, was launched to find the little girl. Frattolin then told authorities two men forced his daughter into a white van, New York State Police said. But he was the one arrested after police found inconsistencies in his story and concluded there was no kidnapping. The Independent has reached out to New York State Police and the Essex County attorney for comment. Melina's body was found in the shallow water of a pond off a state highway in Ticonderoga on July 20, authorities said. Her body was concealed with a rock near a fallen tree, according to the indictment. New York State Police said the girl had drowned. Frattolin was suspected of visiting the area before the murder, State Police Captain Robert McConnell previously said. McConnell said Frattolin had no prior criminal history. Frattolin and Melina arrived in the U.S. on July 11, according to McConnell. They visited Connecticut and New York, including New York City. Authorities believe Melina was killed on July 19, the day she was supposed to be returned to her mother in Montreal. Authorities say Frattolin, who was born in Ethiopia, was living in Montreal. Frattolin and Melina's mother have been estranged for years, and the girl lived full-time with her mother, according to police. McConnell said Melina's mother knew about the planned vacation and had no concerns about her daughter's safety. At court on Wednesday, a judge ordered Frattolin to be held without bail. Canadian man accused of killing daughter, 9, in upstate New York
July 30 (UPI) -- A Canadian man on Wednesday pleaded not guilty in the death of his 9-year-old daughter earlier this month while they were on vacation in upstate New York. Luciano Frattolin, 45, was denied bail by Judge Tatiani Coffinger after acting Essex County District Attorney Michael Langey said he was a flight risk because of his citizenship in Ehiopia and Italy, as well as his ties to Canada. "No amount of money would ensure he'd return," Langey told the judge. Public defender Emily Evatt said he had no criminal history and planned to stay in New York City with a friend. Frattolin was in financial trouble, WRGB-TV reported. He is the founder of Gambella Coffee in Montreal, which is named after the town in Ethiopia where he was born and where green coffee beans are hand-picked, WNYT-TV reported. Frattolin is facing a second-degree murder charge and concealment of a human corpse. He is accused of killing his daughter, Melina Galanis Frattolin, in the evening of July 19 during a vacation, then concealing her body and saying she was abducted. He said she was kidnapped when he pulled over on Interstate 87 to go into the woods to go to the bathroom, police said. An Amber Alert was issued the next morning. Later that day, her body was found in a pond in a remote area near Ticonderoga, which is 98 miles north of Albany and 146 miles south of Montreal. The New York State Police said a preliminary autopsy shows she died from "asphyxia due to drowning." In the indictment, officials said he concealed her body "by placing it in a wooded area, near a fallen tree with a rock on top of the corpse." Authorities believe she was killed a few hours after she called her mother to say they were traveling on the way back to Montreal as part of a 10-day vacation that included New York City and Connecticut. The girl lived with her mother. The couple had been estranged since 2019, according to Capt. Robert McConnell of the New York State Police. The mother said she had no prior concerns about them traveling together. Police noticed inconsistencies in his timeline of the trip, McConnell said. A jury trial has been set for January 2026.
