Search for missing influencer Tengku Nizaruddin enters third day in Muar
The search along Sungai Tui in Jalan Bukit Kepong here, where the 38-year-old influencer's car plunged into, has not produced any new leads.
Muar district police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the search operation for Tengku Nizaruddin, also known as Ija, resumed at around 8 am, involving about 60 police personnel and firemen.
He said the search was being carried out using police and fire department boats to comb the water surface, along with aerial surveillance using a drone operated by the fire department.
'We will provide updates should there be any findings, and I urge the public not to speculate on this incident.
'We will not rule out any aspects or elements that need to be investigated, including other possible factors. The investigation will continue, and the case is still classified as a missing person,' he told Bernama.
Tengku Nizaruddin was reported missing after the Perodua Axia he was driving was found submerged in the river last Tuesday, with no trace of him inside. — Bernama

Cops cripple major drug syndicate operating from the north

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the simultaneous operations by the Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department also saw the seizure of a huge amount of heroin base and heroin, with an estimated total value of RM4.13 million. He said police arrested the first suspect after intercepting a car parked by the roadside at USJ 19/4 in Subang Jaya, Selangor. They found 14.52kg of heroin base and 920g of heroin hidden in a bag inside a specially concealed compartment behind the rear passenger seat. 'The next raid was at a house in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, where the second suspect was arrested and 22.55kg of heroin base seized from the premises. 'The third suspect was detained at an eatery in Permatang Pauh, Penang, which then led to the inspection of a nearby house where police discovered 7.456kg of heroin base,' Bernama quoted him as saying today. Hussein said the suspect arrested in Penang is believed to be the mastermind of the syndicate, which had been active since early last year. He said the mastermind sourced drugs from a neighbouring country and handed them to the other two suspects, who transported the drugs from Penang to the Klang Valley, earning up to RM4,000 a trip. 'Heroin base is the 'mother' of drugs, being the raw form that is later processed into various grades of heroin and sold at higher prices,' he said. The first and second suspects have been remanded for five days starting July 13, while the third suspect is under a six-day remand. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.

2 suspected loan sharks nabbed over Penang arson case

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Two suspected members of a loan shark syndicate have been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed three houses in Tasek Gelugor, Penang, on June 24. Penang deputy police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said the men, both in their 20s, were detained by the state commercial crime investigation department in two separate raids in Penang on July 3. They are also suspected of being involved in a paint vandalism incident at a house in Tanjung Tokong on June 30. 'The raids led to the seizure of several items, including a motorcycle, a pair of sport rims, a helmet, mobile phones, a sling bag and clothing belonging to the suspects. 'During interrogation, both suspects admitted to their involvement in the case of arson that destroyed three double-storey terrace houses,' Bernama reported him as saying. He said investigations also revealed the suspects' involvement in five other paint-splashing cases currently being investigated. The fire on June 24 broke out at about 4.50am at Taman Tasek Gelugor Utama, causing losses estimated at RM300,000. Five cars and four motorcycles were also damaged. One of the victims later claimed on Facebook that the fire was related to loan shark activities and was possibly meant to target another house in the area. A homeowner had reportedly received a warning letter demanding repayment of a debt, but was not residing in any of the three houses that were set on fire.

Cops nab 2 men, seize RM2.3mil in drugs and assets in Penang

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Police arrested two men and seized drugs and assets worth RM2.3 million in a raid in George Town, Penang, on Wednesday. Acting Penang police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said the suspects, aged 40 and 62, were believed to have been involved in the distribution of MDMA. He said the older man was arrested at a house used to process the drugs, and his accomplice was picked up in the same area. According to Alwi, 150 packets and nine plastic bottles containing MDMA powder, weighing more than 13.4kg, were seized during the raid, as well as two vehicles and cash totalling RM71,220. 'We also seized two ecstasy pills, an Erimin 5 pill, and equipment used to process MDMA,' he said in a statement. Alwi said the duo had been trafficking drugs since March, involving quantities that were believed to be enough for consumption by up to 100,000 users. He said both suspects tested positive for drugs and have records for drug-related offences. They have been remanded until July 23 and are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking.
