Saturday afternoon crash on Urbana Road leaves one dead, one injured
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One man is dead after a Saturday afternoon vehicle and pedestrian crash in Clark County.
According to the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 1:53 p.m. on Urbana Road, near Eagle City Road, Moorefield Township, Clark County.
The initial investigation found a silver 2008 Chevrolet Aveo was stationary on the right shoulder of Urbana Road. The 36-year-old driver from Urbana was outside the vehicle, on the shoulder of the road.
Officials said a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 50-year-old from Lebanon was traveling north on Urbana Road. The Silverado failed to maintain its lane of travel, driving on the right shoulder of the road, hitting the 36-year-old and the Aveo.
The 36-year-old was declared dead on the scene.
Medics took the Silverado driver to Springfield Regional for minor injuries.
The crash is under active investigation.

Third man arrested after Mud Island shooting
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police arrested another man on Tuesday after two men were arrested last week in connection with the Mud Island shooting. When the male victim was shot, he tried to get away from the suspects but ended up crashing into a mailbox. That crash caught the attention of a witness, who helped the victim stay awake until paramedics arrived. Arrests made in connection to Mud Island shooting Two other witnesses heard the gunshot, and one of them had video footage that captured the suspects' truck. The male victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition. At last check, he is expected to survive. Violent Crime Investigators arrived at the scene and gathered evidence. They determined that the suspect vehicle was stolen from the 1500 block of Monroe earlier that morning. On June 3, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of East Holmes Road. The red Chevrolet Silverado was recovered and towed to the city lot. On June 5, 2025, DeSoto County investigators reached out and provided information on this case. VCU was advised that when DeSoto County assisted MPD with the arrests of Christopher Skelton, 29, and Justin Furnish, 42, for unrelated charges on June 2, 2025, the red truck was at the scene. Trial begins for man accused in 2004 Hamilton murder
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The murder trial has started for man featured on a 2005 episode of 'America's Most Wanted' and found working in Mexico last year. Antonio Riano, 63, was captured in Mexico in 2024 working as a police officer. Riano is accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Benjamin Becarra outside of a Hamilton bar in 2004. A court filing from the attorney of the accused man shows an argument of self-defense could be presented.
