Wounded Pirates looking to bounce back against Gallants
Following their poor start to the season, Orlando Pirates will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they meet Marumo Gallants in a Betway Premiership clash at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Tuesday night (kickoff is at 7.30pm).
The Buccaneers suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Sekhukhune United in their opening league match last Saturday. Gallants won 2-1 against Richards Bay in their season opener.

Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou admits that his team had a bad day at the office against Babina Noko.
The Moroccan coach, however, insists that despite the poor start to their campaign, the Buccaneers will bounce back and compete for the league title again this season.
'We started badly, but we'll get some rest and quickly get back to business,' said Ouaddou.
'The league is a marathon; many games remain to be played. This result (against Sekhukhune United) means that every season, the league is getting better and tougher.
'The teams are preparing and organising themselves well. My analysis of the result is that there are no more small teams in the league.'
Mbule on Pirates loss
Sipho Mbule, who was making his league debut for Pirates, concurred with his coach that the Buccaneers did not have the best of games against Sekhukhune on Saturday.
'I think our first match was not that great; we played in patches. We created some chances, but they were not clinical. It's a bad start for us, but it's something that we'll learn from,' said Mbule.
'As we told ourselves that no team would come here to Orlando and dominate us, and of course, they didn't dominate us. They got one chance and they capitalise on it. I think now, it's about us going back to the drawing board and looking at the game again and see where we can improve on.'
Ouaddou surprised many people when he started with Boitumelo Radiopane upfront ahead of the club's top goalscorer last season, Tshegofatso Mabasa, who was not even on the bench. He has since come under fire from the Bucs faithful after the loss to Sekhukhune.
'Mabasa is available; it is a choice that we made. But he is ready, and when we call him, I think he will be able to perform and give us the best of himself,' replied Ouaddou when asked why Mabasa was not part of the matchday squad.

It remains to be seen if Mabasa will start upfront for Pirates against Gallants or if Radiopane will lead the Bucs' attack again.

Kaizer Chiefs focus on consistency over revenge ahead of Polokwane City clash
REVENGE might be a dish best served cold but Miguel Inacio says Kaizer Chiefs have long put their defeat by Polokwane City behind them and Amakhosi will thus not be trotting on to the FNB Stadium pitch with vengeance on their mind. Chiefs' failure to qualify for the top eight a second season running had much to do with the goalless draw they played against the team from the Limpopo capital and many are of the view it is time to get even. 'It's not a revenge game for us,' the Chiefs skipper told the media during the club's open day in Naturena on Tuesday. 'We just have to do our best to win the match. Last season we were not at our best but now that we've started this season we are confident.' He agrees it will not be easy against a City side that has already been beaten by Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 and were held to a goalless draw by their hometown rivals Magesi FC in their Betway Premiership opener. 'It's going to be a tough game but we are playing at home and we have to do what we can to put our ideas to action. It will be a good game and hopefully we can come out with a win,' said Inacio. Now officially the captain of Chiefs, the well-travelled defender reiterated his stance that opening the 2025/26 campaign with a victory – a 2-0 defeat of 10-man Stellenbosch FC – was the best thing they could have done for themselves. 'It was an important win,' he said 'Starting the league with a win is always good to give us the positive mood for the season but we need to go on and keep doing the right things.' Such was the wretched nature of Chiefs' previous campaign they struggled to string together successive wins and thus beating Polokwane City on Wednesday night would surely give them impetus for this current one. Though intent on helping the team shine much brighter than they did last time around, Inacio is a wily old campaigner who knows not to raise anyone's expectations unduly. 'Of course, we can state that we always do well against Stellenbosch so we must focus on the next game. I think the team understands that already. We know that what was lacking last season was consistency so that's the biggest challenge we have this season,' said Inacio. "And I think we have already shown that we can do better because we have a clean sheet (from the opening match). Last season we conceded 2-1 against Marumo, so there's already a difference. "The challenge is to try and win not just two matches (in a row) but three or four or five. And that's what we want to try to do this season and I think we are capable of doing it.' He has warned against the Amakhosi faithful having too many expectations on the club. "Expectations are dangerous. They can create a lot of things in your mind. So, I think you have to live in the moment; you have to enjoy the moment. Last season when I arrived there were a lot of expectations about what we can achieve; about what we can do. "l think we had good achievements but there were also some bad moments. So, for this season, I will live game by game and try to do my best. Every training and every game I will try to focus on today and not what can happen next week. "The big difference will be to go game by game without a lot of expectations; not thinking of what we can achieve because thinking only about the next game will be easy for everybody.'

Marumo Gallants vs Orlando Pirates - Tuesday, 12 August
The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is up and running with Orlando Pirates travelling to Bloemfontein for their first away fixture of the season as they visit Marumo Gallants for a clash at Dr Molemela Stadium on Tuesday night. The fixture pits one of the league's oldest clubs against one of the youngest, drawing another chapter in what is still a new yet exciting rivalry. It also marks Bucs coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's return to his previous home as he looks to collect the Soweto giants' first Betway Premiership points of the season. It's a match-up between two sides currently placed on opposite ends of the league table, following the results of what was an exciting opening weekend of league clashes. Maruma Gallants occupy fourth place in the early standings after the first game week after their victory over Richards Bay over the weekend. It was the perfect start to newly-appointed head coach Alexandre Laffite, who got his tenure off to a winning start despite finishing the game with 10 men. Goals from ex-Bucs reserves forward Bheki Mabuza and newly-recruited midfielder Simo Mbhele handed them a 2-1 win at King Zwelithini Stadium. It came at a cost however, with skipper Edgar Manaka suspended for the clash following his 39th minute red card. They have enough cover, however, in midfield in the form of Dimakatso Mashao, Pathutshedzo Nange, and Mkhuseli Rampa. There are also a few new arrivals in the form of both goal-scorers from the weekend, along with Teboho Motloung and Jaisen Cliiford who both formed part of their match day squad over the weekend. With Tshepho Mashiloane and Kamogelo Sebelebele, two more Buccaneers debuted in the defeat to Sekhukhune United while the likes of Sipho Mbule and Oswin Appollis made their first Betway Premiership appearances in the club's colours. There could be more new faces in the match day squad with Masindi Nemtajela and Sinoxolo Kwayiba both yet to feature, while Nkosikhona Ndaba inched closer to a competitive appearance when he was included on the bench against Babina Noko. All available options could contribute towards the Buccaneers' first league points of the season after they failed to get off the mark on home turf when they fell to a 1-0 defeat on Saturday night. In their first away outing of the season, Orlando Pirates are looking to get back to winning ways having found themselves deep in the bottom half of the table early on in their campaign. They are in unfamiliar territory in 13th place –- a fair distance away from their second-place finish in the previous season. Awaiting them is a high-flying Maruma Gallants outfit looking for back-to-back victories for the first time in their two opening fixtures since first ascending into the top flight. Orlando Pirates' dominance in the fixture was halted abruptly on their last visit to the Free State when they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of their new mentor back in March this year. It was their first league defeat in an unbeaten run of eight matches, which included four straight wins against Tuesday's hosts. Five of the eight previous fixtures have ended in victory for the Buccaneers, with an 8-1 win at Orlando Stadium accounting for half of the goals scored by the Soweto giants in fixtures between the two sides. A total of 20 goals have been scored with the hosts only accounting for four. Half of Gallants' goals came in the most recent fixture where they not only breached Orlando Pirates' defences for the first time at home, but also claimed their first maximum points hauling their own turf. The Buccaneers' have claimed five league victories in eight attempts against Bahlabane ba Ntwa, with two of those occurring away from home.
