Kings' Nique Clifford recognized as a top summer league performer
Clifford is averaging 16.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals on 50% shooting from 3-point range in five appearances with the Kings. He has scored in double figures four times, including a 19-point, nine-assist and seven-rebound performance on Wednesday.
He has played a key role in helping the Kings advance to the championship game on Sunday (10 p.m. EDT, ESPN). The Kings have had strong contributions from Isaac Jones and Devin Carter, who also rank in the top 15 in global rating, a metric used to determine players' productivity.
Clifford has emerged as one of the top overall performers among not only rookies but all players as well. He is finding success scoring from all three levels, while also rebounding at a high level and setting up teammates for easy looks.
The 23-year-old projects to be a player who can step in next season and contribute in the rotation for coach Doug Christie. He established himself as a versatile player in five seasons at the college level, and he has showcased that ability and more in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Magic rookie Noah Penda shares wholesome memory of watching Dwight Howard growing up
Orlando Magic rookie forward Noah Penda revealed Tuesday on X that he grew up watching Dwight Howard when the future Hall of Famer was with the franchise. Howard spent the first eight years of his career with the Magic, leading the team to the NBA Finals in 2009. He was inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame in March after leaving as the franchise's all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, free throws and minutes. The 6-foot-7 Frenchman debuted with the Magic in the NBA Summer League, averaging 11.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, three assists and 1.7 steals on 51.7% shooting from the field in three games. He neared a double-double on July 13 with nine points and 14 rebounds. Penda was highly touted entering the draft because of his scoring, defensive versatility and length, boasting a 7-foot wingspan. He is eager to get to work with the team and is hopeful that he can impact games just as Howard once did.
