Freightliner Boosts Booking Speed and Accuracy with Automation from Tideworks and Decisions
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tideworks Technology Inc. (Tideworks), a leading provider of full-service terminal operating system (TOS) solutions, announced today the successful deployment of an advanced integration with Freightliner Ltd. (Freightliner), the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator. The integration enhances planning by reducing manual processes and improving consistency, speed and accuracy across Freightliner's UK terminals. These enhancements support scalable growth and better asset utilization.
The solution connects Freightliner's existing use of Tideworks' Intermodal Pro® (IPRO) intermodal rail TOS with Decisions, a third-party, low-code automation platform engineered for AI-enhanced decision making, to enable intelligent, rule-based automation of rail booking and planning across Freightliner's network of UK terminals.
'This integration marks a great step forward in Freightliner's digital evolution,' said Thomas Rucker, president of Tideworks Technology. 'By streamlining complex rail bookings with intelligent automation, we're helping Freightliner reduce planning time, improve data accuracy and increase terminal throughput. As a strategic technology partner, we're focused on delivering scalable, future-ready solutions that empower our customers to operate more efficiently and make faster, data-driven decisions.'
The deployment also leverages Tideworks' Business Rules Engine and enhanced Planning API to send planning data to Decisions. The integration then applies terminal-specific rule sets to automate booking assignments to virtual railcars, streamlining previous manual processes. It also enhances system communication and improves data accuracy across Freightliner's network.
'Our team worked closely with Tideworks to roll out this integration across our network of UK terminals, and we've already seen improvements in planning speed and consistency,' said Chris Cavanagh, terminal systems manager at Freightliner Ltd. 'We see Tideworks as a strategic partner in our modernization efforts and look forward to continued collaboration to adopt emerging technologies that improve planning workflows and operational performance.'
Freightliner has partnered with Tideworks since 2008. This new project with Decisions highlights the increasing demand for adaptable, integration-ready systems in rail logistics. The integration rolled out across Freightliner's UK terminals in 2024. With cloud-capable infrastructure, evolving data tools and support for API-based integration, the implementation reflects Tideworks' focus on building scalable digital foundations to support long-term operational goals.

United Airlines' and JetBlue's 'Blue Sky' partnership brings loyal flyers reciprocal benefits
Loyal United Airlines and JetBlue flyers have a lot to look forward to with the two carriers' recently announced "Blue Sky" partnership. The new alliance will give United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members reciprocal perks when flying — they'll be able to earn and redeem miles on either airline, enjoy status benefits onboard both and buy flights from either carrier's website. United Airlines, whose major Northeast hub is at Newark Liberty International Airport, will also have space at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as early as 2027. While not all of the specifics have been announced yet, here's what we know so far. On May 29, United Airlines and JetBlue announced Blue Sky, a new initiative aimed at providing their frequent flyers with more travel — and credit card rewards earning/redemption — options. The collaboration brings reciprocal benefits to United MileagePlus and JetBlue TrueBlue members, the airlines' loyalty programs, with changes rumored to go into effect as early as this fall. JetBlue has a significant East Coast presence, which means teaming up with United gives its flyers more access across the U.S. Some of United's main hubs include Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Denver International Airport and Houston Intercontinental Airport. United also has a much larger international network that JetBlue flyers can tap into. For United flyers, the alliance with JetBlue opens up their options when flying along the East Coast or to the Caribbean. They can also now add JFK as an alternative for in and out of New York. With the Blue Sky partnership, JetBlue's TrueBlue members will be able to earn and use points for flights across United's global network, including domestic and international flights. United's MileagePlus customers will be provided the same opportunity for "most" JetBlue flights, with further details hopefully coming in the future. The ability to earn and redeem points across airlines is a big perk, especially for travelers who take advantage of transfer partners where available. JetBlue points can be earned by a handful of credit card issuers, with American Express Membership® Rewards, Capital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards® and Citi ThankYou® Rewards all transferring at different ratios. United is a little trickier and only has Chase Ultimate Rewards points and Bilt Rewards Points as transfer partners. This partnership will now likely grant additional ways to indirectly access United's network through transferring points to JetBlue and redeeming via United flights. This could be possible with cards like the American Express® Gold Card or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, two popular travel cards that you may already have in your wallet. We still need to wait for some more details around pricing and how the exact redemption works, but having more flexibility with your credit card points is always welcome. As part of Blue Sky, United and JetBlue will offer flights on one another's websites and mobile apps so you can book on either seamlessly. Both carriers will continue to publish and market flights independently, not a codeshare, however. United will also shift how it provides hotels, rental cars, cruises and vacation booking via its website and mobile apps, moving to services provided by JetBlue's Paisly platform. IDEXX Laboratories (NasdaqGS:IDXX) Launches Catalyst Cortisol Test for Canine Health
IDEXX Laboratories recently introduced its Catalyst® Cortisol Test, an advance in veterinary diagnostics, and reported an earnings growth with a raised revenue guidance for 2025. Furthermore, the company repurchased 930,800 shares, indicating strong financial health. These developments likely supported IDEXX's 22% share price increase over the last quarter. Meanwhile, broader market movements were relatively modest, with indices experiencing slight gains amid optimistic trade discussions between the U.S. and China and positive economic data. IDEXX's performance was possibly bolstered by its innovative launches and solid financials, in line with buoyant market sentiments. We've spotted 1 risk for IDEXX Laboratories you should be aware of. Find companies with promising cash flow potential yet trading below their fair value. The introduction of the Catalyst® Cortisol Test and share repurchase strengthens IDEXX Laboratories' position in veterinary diagnostics, potentially boosting revenue and earnings forecasts through increased diagnostic usage and market expansion. Over the past five years, IDEXX's total shareholder returns increased by 63.06%, including price movements and dividends, reflecting consistent long-term growth despite some market volatilities. In contrast, IDEXX underperformed the US Medical Equipment industry over the past year, which returned 9%. Though the current share price increase in the last quarter aligns with recent innovations and improved guidance, it trades close to the consensus price target of US$496.54. This suggests analysts view the company as nearing fair value. However, continued product innovations and strategic international expansions might influence future market valuations as IDEXX strives to enhance revenue and earnings growth amid potential challenges such as trade tensions and changing clinical visits. Our comprehensive valuation report raises the possibility that IDEXX Laboratories is priced higher than what may be justified by its financials. This article by Simply Wall St is general in nature. Milliman's first-ever Registered Index-Linked Annuity Experience Study shows behavior similarities with multi-year guaranteed annuity contract holders
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Milliman, Inc., a premier global consulting and actuarial firm, today announced the results of its 2025 Registered Index-Linked Annuity (RILA) Industry Experience Study. "Our recent models indicate a durational surrender trend resembling multi-year growth annuities.' -- Ben Johnson, Milliman This comprehensive study is the first of its kind for RILA and includes notable post-surrender charge period exposure. The results demonstrate that industry surrender rates remain extremely low during the surrender charge period, but rise drastically when outside of that period, with the highest increase in surrender rates observed in large-value contracts. 'Companies have speculated whether the expected shock-lapse rate for RILA would align more closely with comparable VA or FIA products,' said Ben Johnson, Milliman actuarial data scientist, Life and Annuity Predictive Analytics. 'However, our recent models indicate a third possibility: a durational surrender trend resembling multi-year growth annuities.' This latest research analyzes RILA policyholder behavior, including influencing factors such as the change in interest rates since issue, length and magnitude of the contract, methods of distribution, and tax implications. Milliman's RILA study covers surrender behavior for contracts without a withdrawal benefit (GLWB) rider. Key Findings: Distribution channels: RILA contracts are predominantly distributed through independent broker-dealers. Contracts sold through banks tend to experience higher surrender rates during the immediate period post-surrender charge, whereas those sold through large, national brokerage firms exhibit lower surrender rates compared to independent broker-dealers. Surrender charge period: Surrenders during the surrender charge period are exceptionally low, demonstrating minimal sensitivity to fluctuating interest rates. Beyond the surrender charge period, however, we observed surrender rates increase for contracts that were in force during periods of rising interest rates (for instance, since early 2022, surrender rates have trended upward for in force contracts during the post-surrender charge period). Milliman's Registered Index-Linked Annuity Experience Study introduces an advanced behavioral model that is integrated into Milliman's Recon ® platform. This model, with a 100% actual-to-expected accuracy ratio, further empowers annuity writers to conduct their own experience studies, delve into industry data, and develop tailored models.
