Former Steeler Ryan Clark blasts Aaron Rodgers to Pittsburgh as 'worst case scenario'
Not everyone is thrilled about Aaron Rodgers heading to Pittsburgh — just ask former Steelers safety Ryan Clark.
Clark, an outspoken critic of Rodgers, was asked on ESPN what the dynamic between HC Mike Tomlin and the four-time MVP would be in Pittsburgh — and this was his response:
"This is the worst-case scenario for Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It continues to keep you mired in mediocrity. Will this team be better? Have they gotten better in the quarterback room? Absolutely. Will they contend for that championship that Pittsburgh Steelers' people, fans, and the organization thinks is the standard? No, they won't," Clark stated. "Five years from when both of these men retire, one of them will give the most motivational Hall of Fame speech we've ever heard. Another will probably give the most interesting — and it won't mean anything."
Yikes.
This isn't the first time Clark has taken aim at the future Hall of Fame QB. Last December, the former Steeler called Rodgers a "fraud" for his criticism directed at former players working at ESPN.
Will Rodgers win Clark over with a dominant performance in Pittsburgh — or does the bad blood run deeper than anything football could fix?

Following the news that he will be a Steeler this fall, Aaron Rodgers 2025 player props including his over/under passing yards and passing TDs are available at several sportsbooks. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. During a typically silent week of the NFL offseason, football fans and bettors got a a rare bit of early-June fodder with the report this week that Aaron Rodgers will be signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After two tough years with the Jets, including an Achilles tear in 2023, it's an understatement to say that it is hard to predict what we'll see during Rodgers' upcoming campaign under Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. It will be interesting to monitor how the lines on Rodgers' 2025 season props like total passing yards and passing TDs move this offseason as bettors take action on one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the league. Steelers' Futures Odds Unchanged Before diving into what to expect from Rodgers, it's worth pointing out that no, oddsmakers do not expect signing Rodgers -- who will turn 42 in December -- to move the needle for the Steelers. Pittsburgh's win total remains where it opened back in April, at 8.5. It is shaded toward the under at most sportsbooks, including DraftKings (PIT wins o8.5 +110; u8.5 -130) and FanDuel (PIT wins o8.5 +115; u8.5 -140). As for their AFC North and Super Bowl winner odds, DraftKings lists the Steelers at +550 (implied probability: 15.38 percent) to win the AFC North and +4000 (implied probability: 2.44 percent) to win Super Bowl 60. At FanDuel, Pittsburgh -- which went 10-7 each of the last two years after 9-8 seasons in both 2021 and 2022 -- is +4300 to win Super Bowl 60 and +500 to win its division. Aaron Rodgers 2025 Player Prop Odds Now, let's get into where the lines are set on Rodgers' passing numbers. For context, below are his counting stats from his last three healthy seasons: 2021 (GB), 2022 (GB) and 2024 (NYJ). 2021 2022 2024 Passing Yards 4,115 3,695 3,897 Passing TDs 37 26 28 Interceptions 4 12 11 Yards Per Attempt 7.7 6.8 6.7 Completion Percentage 68.9 64.6 63 Sacks (sack rate) 30 (5.35%) 32 (5.57%) 40 (6.41%) Aaron Rodgers 2025 Passing Yard Props FanDuel : 3300.5 (over -114; under -114) : 3300.5 (over -114; under -114) DraftKings: 3300.5 (over -110; under -110) In addition to his over/under, FD offers Rodgers' odds to lead the league in passing yards (+3700), plus whether he'll reach 4,500 yards passing (+1500). At DK, you can bet on Rodgers to reach 3,500 passing yards (+105), 4,000 passing yards (+400) and 4,500 passing yards (+1200). Aaron Rodgers 2025 Passing TD Props DraftKings: 23.5 (over -110; under -110) Other Aaron Rodgers passing TD markets at DK include Rodgers 25+ Passing TDs (+105) and Rodgers 30+ Passing TDs (+425). Aaron Rodgers 2025 MVP, Offensive Player Of The Year Odds You better believe this market is available. Rodgers, the four-time MVP, is +5000 to win this award at DK and +7500 at FD. In the 2025 NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds, Rodgers is +20000 at DraftKings and +40000 at FanDuel. Best 2025 Futures Bets For Steelers, Rodgers Given that eight wins has literally been the Steelers' floor throughout Tomlin's 18-year tenure as head coach (somehow, they've won 10 or more games in 11/18 Tomlin-led seasons, with four nine-win finishes and three eight-win seasons), Pittsburgh Over 8.5 Wins (+115 at FD) is hard to resist. I have major concerns about whether Rodgers will be able to stay upright and healthy, and his supporting cast is questionable as well. But remember, Tomlin won nine games with a shell of Ben Roethlisberger in 2021. He also squeezed out 19 total wins in 2022 (9-8) and 2023 (10-7) with Kenny Pickett as the primary starter. With that in mind, there's value in taking Pittsburgh to win 8-plus games this year as long as Rodgers can just maintain the level of QB play he provided for the Jets in 2024. Let's close with one bet on Rodgers. Against my better judgment (there's a real possibility Rodgers misses significant time this fall, especially if the Pittsburgh O-line struggles like it did a year ago), I'm going to recommend Rodgers Over 3300.5 Passing Yards (-110 at DraftKings). While he's not the same QB he was as a Packer, we're talking about a player who has never finished a complete season with less than 3,695 passing yards. In 14 career seasons in which he started at least 15 games, Rodgers has thrown for 3,800 yards or more 13 times, including 3,897 amid all the dysfunction that plagued the Jets last fall. Also worth noting: 19 quarterbacks across the league threw for 3,300 yards or more. Remarkably, Super Bowl champ Jalen Hurts (15 games) was the only full-time starter who failed to throw for 3,300 yards or more. The fact that we're essentially betting on how many games the 41-year-old Rodgers plays hardly makes this a lock, but we're talking about an extremely manageable number. If he plays at least 15 games, Rodgers -- who threw for 229 yards per game in 2024 -- would need to average just 220 passing yards per game to cash this bet. Is Omar Khan Close to a WR Deal? | Steelers Morning Rush Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's when we should expect Omar Khan to make a move at receiver. The Steelers have been calling all around the NFL in an obvious attempt to upgrade their wide receiver position, after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Khan has been in touch with at least the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- and almost certainly a lot more than that. But does that mean that a move is at hand? Probably not. Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta: 7:36 Now Playing Paused Ad Playing

Make-or-Break Year for Joey Porter Jr? | Steelers Morning Rush Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's whether the 2025 season is make or break for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Porter has had a solid first two seasons as the Steelers' starting cornerback, and there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about the player that he's already become. But there's also nothing physically stopping him from being one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. With his rookie contract set to expire after the 2026 season, this year will be the last chance for Porter to put down tape that he will get paid on. So is this a make-or-break season for the Penn State product? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: SN on Twitter: SN on FB: SN on Insta: 6:54 Now Playing Paused Ad Playing
