BAFTA TV Awards 2025: MAFS UK star Ella Morgan makes powerful red carpet appearance as she stands up for trans rights with fashion statement
MAFS UK star Ella Morgan was one of the first celebrities to take to the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet on Sunday - and she made a powerful statement.
The TV personality, 31, looked sensation as she arrived at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall to celebrate the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises.
Ella turned heads in a black figure-hugging strapless fishtail gown, complete with a huge white ruffled skirt and elegant gloves.
But it was her handbag that really drew attention, as the star, who is transgender, proudly displayed a powerful message written on the accessory.
'Trans men are men,' was scrawled across the black handbag as Ella used her stunning carpet appearance to stand up for trans rights through the fashion statement.
The star-studded evening will see a slew of celebrities take home awards celebrating excellence in TV, as well as a line-up of standout performances.
Global music stars Jessie J and Tom Grennan are both set to put on a show at the ceremony, with powerhouse Jessie singing The Award Goes To as her first TV performance in six years.
Meanwhile, multi-platinum popstar Tom will play his brand new track Full Attention, in a TV exclusive.
Both performances will air during the awards ceremony on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 11 May at 7pm.
In addition, BAFTA has confirmed award-winning concert violinist and social media sensation Esther Abrami will be performing Apple Tree for the In Memoriam tribute.
Speaking about her performance, Jessie J said: 'I haven't sung on British television in years. What a way to come back, it's an honour. But who will the award go to, that's the question.'
Meanwhile, Tom added: 'It's a real honour to have been invited by such a prestigious event as BAFTA to perform in front of so many esteemed actors and creatives.'
For the first time, Scottish actor, writer, producer and presenter Alan Cumming will host the glitzy eremony.
Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards & Content at BAFTA, said: 'We're delighted that Alan Cumming will be hosting this year's BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises.
'He will definitely bring a playful sense of mischief and fun to the ceremony, so audiences should expect the unexpected at Britain's biggest celebration of TV on Sunday 11 May.'
Elsewhere, the nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards 2025 P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award have been announced.
From Gavin and Stacey, to The Traitors and Bridgerton, six of this year's most acclaimed TV shows are set to battle it out for one of the ceremony's biggest accolades.
The category is the only award in which the public will be able to have their say and vote for their favourite scene.
Last year's BAFTA Television Awards delivered an average audience of 2.7 million on BBC One and iPlayer, whilst social media coverage of the night received over 7 million views.
In terms of other nominations, Strictly Come Dancing has been snubbed of a nomination for the first time in the show's 20-year history.
The BBC favourite had been nominated in the Entertainment Programme category every year since the rebooted version of the show launched in 2004.
Meanwhile, Netflix phenomenon Baby Reindeer led the pack with an incredible eight nominations after it proved a global success following its release last year.
Richard Gadd who wrote and starred in the series about his own experiences of being stalked is up for Leading Actor, while his co-star Jessica Gunning is in the running for the Supporting Actress award.
In the Limited Drama category, Baby Reindeer will face ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which was based on one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in British legal history, where hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a defective IT system.
Mr Bates vs The Post Office received a total of six nominations, while Disney series Rivals and Apple TV's Slow Horses also had the same amount of nods.
Ant and Dec, The Traitors and Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out are among the nominees for best entertainment performance.
The best leading actress nominees are Anna Maxwell Martin (Until I Kill You), Billie Piper (Scoop), Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing), Marisa Abela (Industry), Monica Dolan (Mr Bates vs The Post Office) and Sharon D Clarke (Mr Loverman).
David Tennant (Rivals), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Lennie James (Mr Loverman), Martin Freeman (The Responder) and Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs The Post Office) take on Gadd for the best actor accolade.
A total of 21 out of 44 nominees in the performance categories have received their first BAFTA Television Awards nomination.
Soap star Danny Dyer is among the group who have received their first Bafta nomination in the best male comedy performance category for his role in Mr Bigstuff.
In the prestigious best drama category, crime dramas Blue Lights and Sherwood will take on superhero series Supacell and acclaimed period drama Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light.

'The power of television to drive national conversation, to tap into the stories of public interest, and to inspire societal change, is second to none. And to do this through every genre is even more impressive.
'The drama of sport, the truth of fiction, the humanity of documentary, the poignancy of comedy, serious entertainment – this year's nominees reflect every aspect of the human condition.
'UK television is at the top of its game, and it is a privilege at Bafta to showcase the work of our incredibly talented nominees at the Bafta Television Craft Awards and Bafta Television Awards with P&O Cruises. Tune into BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 11, not only to find out who wins, but to inspire your next watchlist.'
And the official wine sponsor of the evening, Casillero del Diablo, will once again be the drink of choice for winners, nominees, celebrities, and VIP guests alike.

Orlando Bloom wants to ‘get the band back together' for Pirates Of The Caribbean
Actor Orlando Bloom has said he thinks it would be 'great to get the band back together' for a new Pirates Of The Caribbean project. The 48-year-old, who plays Will Turner in the Disney film franchise, told ITV's This Morning there is a chance the cast could reunite for a new instalment. Prince William discusses David Attenborough's new documentary for World Oceans Day
The Prince of Wales is marking World Oceans Day this year with an interview with Sir David Attenborough ahead of the release of his new documentary, Ocean with David Attenborough. Kensington Palace has released a new film of Prince William and the 99-year-old broadcaster and environmental activist, which sees the pair discussing the current state of the oceans. David's new documentary is set to release on Sunday June 8, which is World Oceans Day. The film has been created to shine a light on the damage humankind has wreaked on the ocean, as well as the opportunities we have to heal it. In their conversation, William and David spoke of the legendary biologist's work in ocean exploration, as well as reasons to remain optimistic for ocean recovery. At the start of the short film, David recalled the first time he ever put on a diving helmet - and nearly drowned as it filled with water. 'I suddenly felt water coming up,' he said, gesturing around his chin to show where the water level rose to inside the helmet when he first went underwater. 'I thought, 'This can't be right'. And by the time it got to about here,' he said, gesturing to his nose, 'I thought, 'I'm sure this is not right'. 'And of course if you've got this thing screwed on top of you, you can't breathe. You can't even make yourself heard, you know. Get it off me!' The documentary maker said his director at the time, Alastair Fothergill, then took the helmet from him and ignored a warning that it was faulty. 'I said, "It's a fault," and he said, "No, Lord, come on". And he put it on. I'm happy to say that he went under the water and he came up even quicker than I did because there was actually a fault on the thing.' In a 2016 interview in The Telegraph, Alastair also remembered the moment he resurfaced after trying to show David that there wasn't a problem with the helmet. 'I can still remember his gentle smile of satisfaction when he saw how quickly the helmet nearly drowned me as well,' the director said. Later in their conversation, William, who founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020, asked Sir David about how he felt when he got the chance to scuba dive for the first time and talk about it on camera. 'Once [Jacques] Cousteau invented the Aqua-Lung and the face mask, that was the moment when suddenly you moved into a new world, you were flying alongside fish, which was an extraordinary experience and the fish, of course, have no reaction to you really because they've never seen anything like you before.' Sir David also praised the underwater camera crew he has worked with over the years, who he described as 'fantastic' and 'happier underwater than they are on land'. William also asked Sir David what state he would say the oceans are in, based on what he has seen over the years. 'The awful thing is that it's hidden from you and from me, and most people,' he replied. Describing a scene in the documentary which shows deep sea trawling - a way of fishing that uses heavy nets and chains dragged along the ocean floor that is extremely destructive - Sir David said he had been 'appalled' at what humanity has done. 'It is just unspeakably awful,' he said. 'If you did anything remotely like it on land, everybody would be up in arms. 'If this film does anything, if it just shifts the public awareness, it'll be very, very important. I can only hope people who see it will recognise that something must be done before we destroy this great treasure.' Searching for reasons to be optimistic, William asked: 'What gives you hope? What inspires you? Have you seen any stories where you feel that there is hope that we can turn this around?' Sir David said that what has been 'heartening' to see is the ability to broadcast what's happening to the environment directly into 'people's front rooms'. 'Whole families sitting at home in comfort can actually suddenly see this coming up. Films like this can expose something new.' Sir David also said it was 'heartening' to be able to broadcast his documentary straight into people's homes The prince's final question to Sir David probed into the deep, mysterious unknown, as he asked: 'Do you think there are things down there we've never seen?' 'Beyond question,' the broadcaster answered. 'We're in the situation now when in fact it's possible to go into places where nothing like you has ever been there before. It's a huge privilege and excitement.' Earlier this month - as he celebrated his 99th birthday - Sir David said that his forthcoming documentary is one of the most important of his career. He said in a statement: 'After almost 100 years on the planet, I now understand the most important place on Earth is not on land, but at sea.' Prince William also released a new wildlife documentary that was released in May, and said that Sir David was a 'big inspiration' to him when he was growing up. His six-part series, titled Guardians, hopes to 'remind people that there are still wonderful parts of the world and there is still hope, and there's still amazing work to be done'. The prince's passion for protecting the environment and encouraging new initiatives that focus on conservation and recovery is clear through his Earthshot Prize, which awards five winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism.
