Kaizer Chiefs find themselves at the crossroads of revival and regression — and the transfer window ahead could be the difference between staying stuck in the past or finally stepping into a promising future.
With the dust barely settled on their long-awaited Nedbank Cup triumph, Amakhosi must now prove that ending a decade-long trophy drought wasn't a fluke, but the beginning of a new era.
After years of underachievement, finishing well off the pace in the Betway Premiership and cycling through coaches at an alarming rate, Chiefs' decision-makers now have a chance — and the responsibility — to get this one right.
A decade without silverware has taken its toll on the club's stature and shaken the belief of its massive fan base. But the Nedbank Cup win provided a glimmer of hope. Now, the job is to build on it.
The gap between Chiefs and their fiercest rivals — Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates — is glaring. Sundowns have been the undisputed kings of domestic football, while Pirates are building a strong project of their own, having added multiple trophies under former coach José Riveiro.
Chiefs and Dove Part Ways
Kaizer Chiefs and defender Edmilson Dove will part ways when his contract expires at the end of June.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Edmilson for his contributions to the Club and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.#Amakhosi4Life pic.twitter.com/lz7AYH74bZ — Kaizer Chiefs (@KaizerChiefs) June 17, 2025

Chiefs, meanwhile, have often found themselves playing catch-up — finishing mid-table, out of title races by January, and struggling for consistency across competitions. That narrative must change, and it starts with smart, aggressive recruitment.
For Amakhosi to claw their way into the top two and re-establish themselves as genuine title contenders, the quality of their squad must improve significantly.
Chiefs need players who can thrive under pressure, deliver in big games, and drive the team forward — not just talented individuals, but proven professionals with winning pedigrees.
Already, the club has been linked with several high-profile names — some of them with strong local experience, others with continental pedigree.
The gifted and troubled Sipho Mbule is one of the players on Chiefs' radar as well, bringing creativity and versatility to the midfield but his undeniable disciplinary issues are said to be the stumbling block at the moment.
There's also talk of Stellenbosch FC's sensation Devin Titus, who has had an excellent season in the Winelands and fits the mould of the club's renewed focus on youth with purpose.
Chivaviro Update
Kaizer Chiefs will not be extending striker Ranga Chivaviro's contract when it expires at the end of the month.
We thank Ranga for his positive contribution to the team and wish him all the best in his future exploits.https://t.co/c2TRgGoKA1#Amakhosi4Life pic.twitter.com/8mUwqgZeYh — Kaizer Chiefs (@KaizerChiefs) June 4, 2025

Orbit College on brink of promotion after vital win over Casric Stars

Siyabulela Mabele placed Orbit College in a huge advantage to be promoted to the Betway Premiership after his strike gave the North West side a 1-0 win over fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship rivals Casric Stars. Mabele earned the crucial three points with a long-range strike that beat Casric goalkeeper Lako Wendeu in the 80th minute in what was a fourth PSL promotion playoff match at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga yesterday. This was a first win produced in these playoffs after the previous three matches ended in draws, including the only between Casric and PSL side Cape Town City that produced goals to end 1-1 on Wednesday. Both Casric and Orbit drew against City in the first round but another win for Orbit against City in Rustenburg on Wednesday could earn them a ticket to play in SA's elite league next season. Deflection and it's in 😲 📺 Stream on DStv: — SuperSport Football ⚽️ (@SSFootball) June 21, 2025 Orbit will first host City in Rustenburg on Wednesday before Casric travel to Cape Town on Saturday. After three matches, Orbit are on top of the table with five points followed by both City and Castric on two points. If City beat Orbit away from home on Wednesday and do the same to Casric at home on Saturday, they will retain their PSL status. Although yesterday's game opened up in the second half, poor shooting let down both the visitors Orbit and Stars who were playing their last game in front of their fans. Stars striker Decide Chauke came very close to giving his side the lead in the 65th minute but was unlucky to see his striker missing the upright. Not even the introduction of former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus after 70 minutes could help Stars as Orbit managed to keep things tight in their defence.

Kaizer Chiefs close to signing three in-demand free agents!

Kaizer Chiefs have the opportunity to pick up some serious muscle – for free. However, that doesn't mean they will. Asanele Velebayi and former Mamelodi Sundowns player Sipho Mbule, both out of contract, have been offered to AmaKhosi by their respective agents, but the club has yet to make a decision, showcasing their hesitation. Either player would presumably be a great addition for Kaizer Chiefs, but perhaps they have other players in mind and could see these two players as insurance if they fall short of other targets. AmaZulu FC star Rowan Human is another free agent who has been offered to the Glamour Boys. The 24-year-old recently decided not to extend his contract with uSuthu, making him available from July 1. 'AmaZulu FC midfielder Rowan Human has been offered to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs by his representatives as he is set to leave the club on a free transfer. Human will leave Usuthu at the end of June after his contract expires after the 24-year-old failed to reach an agreement with the club on a new contract,' a source revealed. 'Human has been offered to both Soweto giants by his representatives and it could only be a matter of time before he gets snapped up as he will be a free agent and rediscovered his old form.'
