The American businessman has now claimed he discovered Richards was cheating on him with former Marine Reyes, 53, back in April.
Richards starred with Reyes in the third series of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test in 2023. The military instructor split from his gun instructor girlfriend Jade Struck, 25, earlier this year.
In an interview with The Mail, Phypers said Richards had promised to break things off with Reyes, only to hook up with him the following month in a California hotel.
That alleged rendezvous was the basis for their July showdown that signalled the end of their marriage.
Phypers said: "I'm broken-hearted and f***ing tired. Really, she's f***ed me up.
"We've been together nine years and for her to do that and to lie to me consistently - I'm totally tired and drained."
He said the relationship had been rocky for some time, aggravated by six house moves over the course of their relationship and dozens of pets under their care.
He said Richards owned 58 dogs, two pot-bellied pigs, and an 'incontinent' Sphinx cat.
The disgruntled ex also accused Richards of being addicted to vicodin and alcohol.
But the breaking point came when Phypers said he discovered 107 messages between Richards and Reyes, some of which detailed hotel meet ups and included intimate photos.
Furious TV bosses yell at us for pushing celebs too hard, admits Rudy Reyes as he reveals reason why NONE of the stars would pass day 1 of SAS training
He told the publication: "I just had this feeling that something was off because her behavior had changed – she was being kind of cool to me.
"I opened her phone – we both know each other's passwords - so I opened it up and then I went to her deleted texts and there were 107 of them between her and this guy.
"I went through them and it just broke my heart."
Following Phypers and Richards' row in July, the actress filed a lawsuit accusing him of physical and verbal abuse, including leaving her with a black eye.
Phypers has vehemently denied the claims, telling US Weekly, "Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone.
"These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue.
"I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.'
The Sun has contacted representatives for Richards and Reyes for comment.

DC police will share information on anyone officers encounter with ICE agents
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has moved to rescind new guidelines issued by D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith to enable greater collaboration between local police and ICE agents as part of President Donald Trump 's urban crime crackdown. On Thursday, an executive order from Smith said Metropolitan Police Department officers could assist ICE's crackdown on undocumented migrants by 'sharing information about persons not in MPD custody' and 'providing transportation for federal immigration agency employees and detained subjects.' However, it also stated that members 'shall not make any inquiry through any database solely for the purpose of inquiring about an individual's immigration status' and 'shall not arrest individuals based solely on federal immigration warrants or detainers as long as there is no additional crime warrant or underlying offense for which the individual is subject to arrest.' Bondi – who was handed ultimate responsibility for the MPD after Trump invoked Section 740 of the Home Rule Act on Monday to federalize D.C. law enforcement – has now moved to remove those instructions, clearing the way for officers to help ICE by searching databases and carrying out arrests after all. However, a letter sent to Smith from District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb, posted to social media by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday evening, argued that Bondi's directives were not consistent with federal law. 'It is my opinion that the Bondi Order is unlawful, and that you are not legally obligated to follow it,' Schwalb told Smith, adding that police officers in the capital 'must' continue to follow her orders 'and not the order of any official not appointed by the mayor.' Bondi also moved on Thursday to clear out the city's homeless encampments and appoint Drug Enforcement Administration chief Terry Cole as D.C.'s new 'emergency police commissioner.' The upheaval comes after Trump took over D.C. law enforcement while insisting the nation's capital city is overrun by violent street crime – despite the official statistics suggesting offenses are actually at a 30-year low. His opponents calling the move a 'distraction' tactic. The National Guard, alongside agents from the FBI, DEA, and Homeland Security, were dispatched to the streets of Washington to patrol its historic landmarks, including the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Their presence has not been entirely welcomed, however, with traffic stops in the northwest of the city greeted by protests from around 100 members of the public on Wednesday evening. Some of the protesters chanted, 'Go home, fascists!' while others held aloft signs that read, 'Police checkpoint ahead' and 'ICE,' to warn approaching drivers about the active checkpoint. Mayor Bowser has also criticized the Trump administration's actions, saying they illustrate precisely why she believes the district should be granted statehood and called them 'an authoritarian push.'

Margaret Qualley dodges Taylor Swift question as husband skips new album
Margaret Qualley responded awkwardly when questioned about Taylor Swift 's upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, during an appearance on the Today Show. Sarah Jessica Parker praises ‘meaningful' And Just Like That
Sarah Jessica Parker says she is unconcerned by the negative reception of the Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That, despite it being labelled a "hate watch" by many. The series, which has concluded its third and final season, faced widespread criticism for its plot arcs and character development, with viewership declining after a strong debut. Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, said she doesn't "really care" about the detractors. She said the show was 'enormously successful and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful'. Series creator Michael Patrick King said that the decision to end the show was creative, with Carrie Bradshaw's final line providing an "answer" to her journey.
