We've reached the end of another week. But before we clock out for the weekend, we're giving credit where it's due. Sapphics are the latest champions in our Winner of the Week series.
Amid the many horrors, a few bright spots shine. These beacons of hope, these lighthouses promising safe harbor… are called lesbians. Thank you, lesbians. As Billy Eichner once said: let's go, lesbians!
Seriously, we'd be lost without the sapphics right now. Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman kicked off the year by getting surprise-married in Vegas, deciding to tie the knot as they fled the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. (They kept the news a secret until this week.)

Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman Got Married in a Secret Las Vegas Ceremony
The couple had just evacuated from the LA fires.
'My dream is coming true. I want to be married to her—I don't care how,' Hoffman recently told Cosmopolitan of their somewhat spur-of-the-moment plan, which culminated in a walk down the aisle to 'HOT TO GO!' by Chappell Roan (more on her in a sec). 'I just love being with Robby, so knowing that I got her one-on-one to celebrate this beautiful night, I could cry. It was joy,' said Windey. I could cry too, Gabby.

Also walking the hall of sapphic power coupledom are Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus of Boygenius, who are officially, publicly, official, as of March 18. 'From us to you, we are in love,' Dacus told People after months of speculation. She's also got a new album out that, for the first time, uses female pronouns instead of the ambiguous 'you' to describe the love interest in her music, an openness that Dacus describes as 'intimidating' but is also so lovely.

It's a trajectory that Chappell Roan can certainly relate to, which brings us to the biggest gift the givers have given us: 'The Giver.' Yes, living and loving vicariously through our favorite couples is a time-honored tradition, but other people's joy isn't actually ours to borrow. Their music, on the other hand? Inject it straight into my veins.

From the Donut Shop to a World Tour: Chappell Roan Is Doing Pop Her Way
"I haven't even written my best song yet," the singer-songwriter tells *Glamour*.
Though her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess was everywhere last year, it was actually a 2023 release; the one and only song Roan put out in 2024 was the anthemic 'Good Luck, Babe!,' a defiant and rollicking piece of pop about a queer woman in denial. For 2025, the vibe is a bit different. 'The Giver' skips right over the to-come-out-or-not-to-come-out-that-is-the question and gets to the point. 'I just think a lesbian country song is really funny, so I wrote that,' said Roan.
Happy Women's History Month indeed. Alexa, play the trailer for The Wedding Banquet!
With queer rights (and, let's be real, human rights) in a precarious position politically, we won't be so bold as to say that the joy of a few is evidence of some national sea change. But this art, these relationships, this moment can be a form of connection, escapism, maybe even therapy at a time when that's exactly what we need. Positive representation of women in love with each other is something to celebrate.
And it is progress. Twenty-five years ago we had the performative (i.e., fake) queerness of t.A.T.u., the misunderstood Britney-Madonna kiss, the questionable lessons of Chasing Amy. Fifteen years ago, naughty novelty fueled Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl.' In 2025, is queerness totally normalized? Depends where you are. But at least if there's a girl on stage singing or talking about being in love with another girl, it's because she actually is.

At Long Last, George Clooney Shared His Thoughts on ‘The Pitt'
You can take the actor out of the emergency room, but you can't take the emergency room out of the actor. Case in point: Former ER star George Clooney has nothing but kind words to say about his former costar Noah Wyle and Wyle's new propulsive medical drama, the HBO Max phenomenon The Pitt. On a June 3 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Clooney chatted with Meyers to promote his Broadway show Good Night, and Good Luck, a dramatization of broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow's clashes with Senator Joseph McCarthy during the senator's anti-Communist witch hunts during the 1950s. Clooney previously directed and costarred in a film version of Good Night, and Good Luck, released in 2007. After Meyers and Clooney discussed his Broadway show, the late-night host brought up both E/R (a forgotten sitcom that Clooney coincidentally appeared on early in his career) and ER, the broadcast TV juggernaut that catapulted him forward. That's when Meyers brought up the current success of one of Clooney's ER costars, Noah Wyle, who is both the star and executive producer of The Pitt. The former Dr. Doug Ross had nothing but kind words for the former Dr. John Carter regarding The Pitt. "Have you guys seen that show?" Clooney asked the audience, to which the crowd cheered. "It's so good." "We've been really dear friends since [ER], since we did the pilot. He's just the most honorable young man—I get to say, because I'm an old man. And I cannot be happier for his success on this show. The show is just a beautiful show. He does a great job with it." Clooney then comically admitted that he actually hated Noah Wyle for the effortless way he could recite medical jargon in ER's scripts. "He never had any trouble. He always could do it, and I hated him for it," joked Clooney. "People should hate Noah." While it's unlikely that Clooney will make a guest appearance on The Pitt—he is still busy as a movie star, and his last onscreen television performance was in the 2019 series Catch-22 on Hulu—it's comforting to know Clooney has kept tabs on one of his fellow ER alums. Strangely, that feels more like a Batman move than anything Dr. Ross would do. You Might Also Like Kid Cudi Is All Right 16 Best Shoe Organizers For Storing and Displaying Your Kicks

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin Break up (Again) After 8 Years Together
Illustration: Glamour; Photos:;Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have reportedly ended their 8-year-long relationship. Multiple sources confirmed to People on June 4 that the couple has split, with one source telling the outlet, "It feels final this time.' Since confirming their romance in 2017, the couple had broken up a few times, according to reports, however they were spotted together just last month. They were also believed to have been engaged for several years, though both parties chose to keep the details of their relationship private. One thing Johnson was open about was her relationship with Martin's children, Apple and Moses, from his relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow. 'I love those kids like my life depends on it,' Johnson told Bustle in 2024. 'With all my heart.' She likened her relationship with Martin's kids and his ex to her own blended family: 'I think because I grew up in that, it's come more naturally, but I wouldn't have it any other way really,' she said. 'I really wouldn't. I love it. It feels very honest. It feels really authentic. No one's hiding anything.' Celebrity News Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin: A Complete Relationship Timeline A look inside the couple's romance, from their earliest dates to their most recent sightings. Back in 2020, Paltrow told Harper's Bazaar, "I can see how [our friendship] would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. I always start to think of the ampersand sign—what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There's so much juice in leaning into something like that.' Paltrow even shared a photo of herself and Johnson holding hands on Instagram. Reps for Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin haven't commented on the breakup so far, however Johnson is in the middle of a press tour for her latest film, Materialists, which hits theaters June 13. While promoting the film, a romantic comedy by writer/director Celine Song, Johnson reflected on relationships in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. 'For a long time we've all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world,' she said. "When people should get married. Divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad? Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn't matter." Originally Appeared on Glamour

Watch Meghan Markle Get Low While Nine Months Pregnant in This Adorable Home Video
Is this the best piece of content that Meghan Markle has ever posted? Entirely possible. In honor of daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday, the Duchess of Sussex posted a few never-before-seen photos of the little girl to Instagram. She then followed those posts up with a home video from the day that Lilibet was born, and if you weren't in love with Meghan and Prince Harry before, you will be now. The clip shows an extremely pregnant Meghan standing in a hospital room, while someone off-screen presses play. When MemeGasm's 'Baby Mama'—with lyrics like 'Been pregnant for way too long' and 'Preggo but I'm still doin' moves like Beyoncé'—starts to play, Meghan starts dancing. Occasionally, her husband, Harry, slides into the frame. Would it surprise you to learn that Meghan can drop it low even while nine months pregnant and that Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, decidedly cannot? Yeah, me neither. 'Four years ago today, this also happened,' Meghan wrote in her caption. 'Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work - there was only one thing left to do! 😂' We love to see a down-to-earth Meghan Markle! Alongside an earlier Instagram post, featuring two intimate black-and-white portraits of Meghan and her daughter, the duchess wrote, 'Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!' Meghan also posted two photos of Lilibet with Prince Harry, writing in the caption, 'The sweetest bond to watch unfold 💕. Daddy's little girl and favorite adventurer. Happy birthday Lili!' Meghan Markle rarely posts pictures of her kids and she doesn't tend to share videos that are this behind-the-scenes, though she and Prince Harry have slowly begun sharing more details of their everyday lives with the public. Is it wrong to say we hope she keeps it up? Because we do. Originally Appeared on Glamour
