Deputy CM distributes Rs 1.05 crore to women's groups in Telangana
As part of the 'Indira Mahila Shakti' celebrations, the ministers also launched a book featuring poems and writings by women authors celebrating the Mahalakshmi scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM emphasised that the government is supporting women's groups with the vision that they should earn profits, stabilise their families financially, and progress significantly.
He highlighted that the Congress government, upon assuming power, reinstated interest-free loans and decided to organise large-scale public distribution of interest-free loan cheques from July 10 to 16, across all Assembly constituencies in the state.
'We aim to turn one crore women into millionaires. In line with this goal, in the first year alone, Rs 21,000 crore interest-free loans were disbursed to women's groups, and every year, not less than Rs 20,000 crore will be extended as interest-free loans,' he said.
He further informed that with the intention of turning women into entrepreneurs, the Energy department has signed agreements with women's groups to produce solar power. 'Agreements have been made to generate not less than 1,000 MW of electricity through these groups,' Vikramarka said.
During the event, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Mahalakshmi scheme has not only empowered women but has also revived TGSRTC. 'Soon, we will reach the milestone of 200 crore women passengers availing free travel, amounting to a government subsidy of Rs 6,500 crore,' he said.
He also announced that new electric vehicles (EVs) will soon be introduced in Hyderabad.

Pradhan lays stress on coordinated efforts to scale up prodn of Koraput coffee
1 2 Koraput: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday visited the Coffee Board's regional office in Koraput to take stock of the region's growing coffee economy. Walking through the thriving plantations and interacting with officials and tribal women farmers from self-help groups (SHGs), Pradhan praised the region's potential in producing premium-quality coffee and stressed the need for coordinated efforts to scale up production, improve post-harvest processes and build a strong brand identity. "Koraput coffee is not just gaining recognition, it is becoming a profitable and sustainable livelihood for tribal farmers. With proper branding and quality enhancement, we can place Koraput on the world coffee map," the minister said. Koraput collector Keerthi Vasan V said that nearly 7,000 hectares across blocks like Semiliguda, Dashmantpur, Laxmipur, Pottangi and Lamtaput are under coffee cultivation, largely managed by tribal women through SHGs. These plantations yield close to 600 tonnes of coffee annually, translating to a market value of approximately Rs 30 crore, based on current prices. "It will be scaled up further, with plans to add 800 hectares of new coffee plantations and implement shade plantations over 4,000 hectares in 2025-26," the collector said. Officials said more SHGs will be roped in for processing activities to enhance production and ensure better retail presence. Branding efforts are also being intensified, highlighting Koraput's organically grown, high-altitude coffee as a unique product with heritage value. Senior liaison officer of the Coffee Board, Upendra Kumar Saha, briefed the minister on cultivation practices and market trends. Pradhan assured support for infrastructure upgrades and market linkages, affirming the Centre's commitment to promote tribal enterprise. "Koraput coffee is not just a product, it's a symbol of pride, tradition and economic transformation," Sujay Pradhan, vice-president of the Odisha Coffee Growers Association, said. "With national and international attention, it has the potential to become a global movement," he added.

Cong leader Surjewala alleges tampering in HPSC recruitment exam, seeks inquiry
Hisar: Congress leader and party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has called for a judicial inquiry into alleged irregularities in the assistant professor (geography) recruitment exam conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). He alleged that 17 questions in the June 8 exam were deliberately tampered with, correct answers were changed to incorrect ones, and valid questions were removed from evaluation. He termed this manipulation, especially in a paper with negative marking, as a grave injustice. Surjewala provided specific examples, stating that answers to six questions (26, 28, 35, 37, 44, and 46) were altered. He highlighted question 46, which matched a 2017 HTET question where Jean Gottman was the correct answer, but was changed to Patrick Geddes in the current exam. He also claimed that 10 questions were removed from the revised answer key without academic justification, including six (9, 17, 20, 32, 36, and 63) that were completely valid. Of questions 13, 19, 43, 52, and 76, at least two had correct answers but were also removed. Surjewala alleged that 32 questions were lifted from the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) geography exam - 26 directly and 6 partially. He said that even HPSC chairman Alok Verma is from Bihar, suggesting the source paper may have been leaked to favoured candidates. He also pointed out that no assistant professor (college cadre) appointments have been made in Haryana since 2019. Surjewala cited previous controversies, including the May 29 political science paper, where the seal was found broken, and the June 1 Hindi exam, where six question paper envelopes were open and 27 questions were incorrect. Despite this, HPSC chairman dismissed concerns, blaming packing errors. The Hindi paper was later cancelled on June 3 following public outrage. Surjewala concluded by demanding an independent judicial inquiry to uncover the truth and ensure justice for thousands of deserving candidates.

BJP will win 130 seats if assembly polls are held now: BYV
Mysuru: State BJP president BY Vijayendra on Sunday claimed the party would win 130 seats in the state under his leadership if elections were held to the assembly now. He also said he gave special focus to winning more seats in the Old Mysuru region. He was speaking after inaugurating the Viksith Bharath Sankalp convention organised by the dstrict BJP unit, which was held to mark 11 years of the Modi govt. He said he would make efforts to strengthen the party by touring across the state and highlighting the failures of the Congress govt in the next two years. "I will not rest until bringing the party to power," he said, adding that the party also made preparations to win a majority of seats in the upcoming ZP, TP panchayat elections in the state. Vijayendra also challenged the Congress leaders, stating he was ready to take part in an open debate over the issue of initiating development works for Mysore-Chamarajanagar districts, comparing the present Congress and previous BJP govts. He criticised the state Congress govt, which came to power with the assurance of implementing guarantee schemes. However, he claimed that development works took a backseat in the state due to a paucity of funds, as the govt focused only on guarantee schemes, neglecting development. CM Siddaramaiah, who came to power by levelling false corruption charges against the BJP govt, has now exposed his corrupt face, Vijayendra said, contending that Siddaramaiah and his family members were involved in Muda and other scams. Now, the state govt has planned to loot money by announcing the distribution of food kits instead of providing rice to Anna Bhagya beneficiaries, he said. Siddaramaiah, who claims to be a champion of OBCs, is indulging in the appeasement of Muslims for vote bank, he said. Vijayendra also stated that PM Modi was taking the nation forward by maintaining transparency in administration and putting an end to corruption. The Union govt, committed to the welfare of farmers, successfully rolled out the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, providing Rs 6,000 incentives in three instalments for small and marginal farmers, and is now providing 1.5 lakh crore subsidy grants for the promotion of agriculture and empowerment of farmers. MP Yaduveer Wadiyar asked BJP workers to shun their individual differences and work together to bring the party to power. He said BJP would win a comfortable majority even if mid-term polls were declared in the state, as the people were upset by maladministration, corruption, scams, and the increase in the price of essential commodities.
