Given the events of the last two weeks, many have expressed concern for the health of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.
During an appearance on former NFLer Asante Samuel's "Say What Needs to Be Said" podcast, Sanders explained that he had stayed out of the public eye since the 2025 NFL draft at the end of April because he was battling some health-related challenges that have caused him to drop 14 pounds.
Then over the weekend, Sanders abruptly canceled his speaking engagement for the Sickle Cell Disease Research & Educational Symposia, and suddenly, fans had more questions than answers about what was really going on with Sanders.
And while things have most been quiet from "Coach Prime's" camp, Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot tried to get to the bottom of things by asking Sanders' son Shedeur, the Browns' 2025 fifth-round pick who's battling for a spot in a crowded quarterback room that also features Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel.

"Yeah I don't know what's going on [with my dad]," Shedeur said. "So I'm not here to talk about Pops and them. I'm here to be the Quarterback of the Cleveland Browns."
When Cabot pushed further on the issue, Shedeur pushed back, making it known he wasn't comfortable speaking about the circumstances of his dad's ongoing health issues.
"I'm focused on learning this playbook and everything I need to do to be the most successful quarterback I could be," Shedeur continued. "And be the best teammate I can be. Outside of that, I don't really have any thoughts on anything outside this game."
Mary Kay Cabot tried it. Slid in a question about Prime's health, hoping Shedeur would slip. He didn't even blink. Kept it pro — talked QB growth, being a dawg for his team, and owning that playbook. So far the only clarity on what's going on behind the scenes has come from Deion's eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., who recently disclosed during a YouTube live video that Deion was "feeling well" and that the details of what he's going through are his dad's to share.
Deion himself acknowledged on Wednesday morning that he's doing fine while thanking everyone who reached out and wished him well while he's away from the Colorado football team.
"Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 🙏🏾 ," Deion wrote on X. "I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other.
"I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me! I'm excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program. When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I'M COMING BABY, #CoachPrime."

Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen Would 'Absolutely Love' to Play Flag Football in Olympics
Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen Would 'Absolutely Love' to Play Flag Football in Olympics originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite being three years away, the flag football competition of the Olympics has been a hot topic of discussion amongst current NFL players. Advertisement Most recently, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen spoke on the topic. Allen made it clear that he would love the chance to take home a gold medal for the United States. 'I'm not gonna disrespect the guys that are playing flag football right now, but, you know, if there's an opportunity for me to try, I would absolutely love to,' Allen told reporters on Tuesday. 'I've always wanted to compete for my country and, you know, every time the Olympics are on, I'm tuned in and glued to the screen. But I think there's really no greater honor to do that. That'd be really cool.' Flag football has developed into a much different game than the tackle football played on NFL gridirons, to the point where the current Team USA quarterback Darrell Doucette III has made headlines taking shots at NFL players, saying they shouldn't be given spots on the Olympic roster over longtime flag football players. That being said, it's hard to imagine a reality where Allen wouldn't dominate the sport. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player just completed his sixth consecutive season with 40 touchdowns. While Allen has one of the strongest arms in the NFL - averaging 4,048 yards per 17 games - he's also a threat as a runner. Advertisement Allen has logged 4,142 yards and 65 touchdowns on the ground in his NFL career, including back-to-back double digit rushing touchdown seasons. At 6-foot-5, Allen has an incredible combination of size, speed, and arm talent. There are still many decisions that need to be made by USA Football regarding how the country's national team will be selected, but they'll be hard pressed to find a quarterback better equipped for the job than Josh Allen. Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen Reveals Biggest Life Accomplishment
Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen Reveals Biggest Life Accomplishment originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been on an absolute roll as of late - on and off the field. The 29-year-old gunslinger is coming off a historic 2024 season - one in which he was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player. Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, completing 63.6 percent of his passes and only being intercepted six times. On the ground, Allen ran for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns. Allen also recorded a receiving touchdown - despite not registering a reception, thanks to a lateral player between him and Amari Cooper. Advertisement Thanks to his exploits on the field, Allen was rewarded a six-year, $330 million contract extension, with a record $250 million guaranteed. Even more recently, Allen married actress Hailee Steinfeld. The pair began dating in May 2023, and Allen proposed in November 2024. Allen has accompanied Steinfeld on red carpets and Hollywood events, most recently due to Seinfeld's standout performance in Ryan Coogler's genre-defying hit "Sinners", which has grossed over $350 million at the box office and is an early favorite for Best Picture. Heading into his eighth NFL season, Allen had plenty to talk about with reporters on Tuesday as the Bills began their minicamp at ADPRO Sports Training Center. While there was buzz all offseason about Allen beating out Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson for MVP and his record-breaking contract, Allen said his wedding was not only the biggest milestone of his offseason, but his life. Advertisement 'They've all been big, none other than marrying my best friend, and she makes everything easier,' Allen told reporters. 'So, I don't really focus on the other stuff. That was the most important decision I'll make in my life and I made the right one.' Following the couple's engagement announcement in November, Steinfeld was immediately welcomed by the people of Buffalo after a billboard was erected downtown with the caption: 'The Queen city has a new queen. Congratulations, Josh and Hailee.' As supportive as Allen has been of Steinfeld's career, Steinfeld has given that same support to Allen. 'Hailee loves supporting Josh's career and admires his work ethic,' a source told Us Weekly. 'She absolutely loves going to the games and cheering him on. It's fun for her to bring her family and be with Josh's and they make it a huge family outing. Their families have bonded a lot, especially during the season.' How social media reacted to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce taking in Panthers-Oilers Stanley Cup final
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had a date night that made headlines this week. The couple was spotted attending Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers against the Florida Panthers, in Florida. This isn't the first time the pair have attended a sporting event together. In October, the musical artist and NFL player were seen together at Game 1 of the American League Championship Series at Yankee Stadium. The dynamic duo also attended the U.S. Open tennis tournament in September. Social media was quick to react to the duo being at the hockey game together. The official NHL X account posted multiple times about the couple's attendance of the game, using deep-cut Swiftie references. The Panthers' official account even used a Swift lyric reference to remark on the team's 5-4 overtime loss to the Oilers. But not all hockey fans were thrilled by the amount of times the camera panned to the chatty Swift and Kelce throughout the game, sometimes even during pivotal game-time moments. Despite some of the backlash, Swift was captured taking selfies with fans, some even wearing her merch at the game. Swift recently had a big win herself — she bought back control of all her master recordings and now owns her entire music catalogue, music videos, concert films and her entire life's work. Shortly after, Kelce gave her a shoutout for the accomplishment on his podcast 'New Heights.' 'Shout out to Tay Tay,' Kelce said, per E! News. 'Just bought all of her music back so it's finally hers.'
