Starbucks workers at roughly 100 locations strike over new dress code
Over 1,200 Starbucks workers went on strike over a newly enforced dress code. They say the company should provide stipends to pay for new clothes.
Summer is right around the corner and Starbucks is celebrating with a summer menu that features new beverages and returning favorites.
The menu, available beginning Tuesday, May 20, will introduce a new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and returns fan-favorite Summer-Berry Starbucks Refreshers and a new Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop.
The Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso features Starbucks Blonde Espresso paired with oatmilk and an horchata flavored syrup, which is a fusion of cinnamon, sweet vanilla and subtle nutty notes reminiscent of the rice milk that makes up a traditional horchata, according to Starbucks.
"While horchata recipes vary from region to region, it's often made with non-dairy milk, sweetened and flavored with spices, extracts and other ingredients – a reflection of the unique tastes and traditions of the cultures that created it," Starbucks said in a news release.
The Summer-Berry Refreshers return after initially being introduced in 2024. The drinks feature a "sweet and summery blend" of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry flavors shaken with ice and water, poured over raspberry flavored pearls.
The refreshers can be ordered with lemonade in the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher or with coconut milk in the Summer Skies Drink.
The drinks are available for a limited time, while supplies last this summer.

In addition to the beverages, a new Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop is also joining the summer menu.
The cake pop features strawberry cream cake mixed with buttercream, dipped in a chocolatey icing and finished with a summer strawberry design.
Starbucks is also partnering with Farm Rio to bring customers an "exciting collection of drinkware reminiscent of the vibrant colors and prints of the popular Brazilian fashion label."
The collaboration is available for a limited time while supplies last and includes cold cups, key chains, and more.

A new study set out to determine how much time Americans need to work to afford a regular cup of coffee. In Arizona, the answer might make caffeine lovers wince. The report, published by Coffeeness, a coffee blog known for reviews and brewing tips, compared the average price of a basic black coffee in every state, excluding specialty drinks and boutique roasters, with each state's average hourly wage to find out where coffee is most affordable in the U.S. The result? Arizona ranks among the worst states for coffee affordability. According to the data, Arizonans must spend about 10.2% of their average hourly wage — or work 6.1 minutes — to afford a standard cup of coffee. That's the fourth-longest time in the country and 13% higher than the national average. Opting for a Starbucks brew stretches that time to 9 minutes, making your morning ritual a bit more of an investment here than in most states. Arizona also ranks low in coffee consumption per capita, but Phoenix locals still enjoy a strong and diverse coffee scene — whether you're looking to sip in a cozy nook, work remotely or just grab a drink on the go. So while Arizona may not be the most wallet-friendly state for your daily coffee fix, Phoenix still offers plenty of spots worth the extra minutes on the clock.
