Prakasam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 16 (ANI): A man allegedly kidnapped a Class 8 girl in Chimakurthy mandal of Prakasam district to force her father to 'repay" a loan of Rs 5 lakh, police said on accused, identified as R Eswar Reddy of Tirupati, was arrested after an to police, Srinivasa Rao, while working as a labourer in Tirupati, had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from accused Eswar Reddy. He had developed a friendship with Srinivasa Rao due to money transactions, and the girl also recognised him because of her father's association. Using that trust, he took her away."The accused, called Srinivasa Rao and threatened to kill the girl if he failed to return the loan. The parents immediately lodged a complaint with the Chimakurthy Police Station, Inspector said.'We formed special teams and successfully arrested him. A case has been registered," he the help of CCTV footage, the Special police teams tracked girl was rescued safely and reunited with her family. Home guard dies in liquor smuggler chase
Patna: A home guard died and an excise department officer was injured on Saturday morning in Gopalganj district during a pursuit of a suspected liquor smuggler. The officers were riding a motorcycle when it hit a pothole and skidded. The injured were taken to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where the home guard, Abhishek Kumar Pathak, was declared dead. Gopalganj SP Avdhesh Dixit said the incident took place around 5am between Sainik School Gopalganj and the Govt Engineering College. "The excise department had received information that a liquor smuggler would be entering from Uttar Pradesh, prompting a team of four officials on two motorcycles to wait near the Balthari check post. When the smuggler approached and sped past, the officers gave chase," the SP said. . He added, "During the chase, the roads were not visible due to darkness. Hence, the accident took place. Abhishek, who was riding pillion, fell and hit his head on the ground, which proved fatal." The SP also clarified that no exchange of fire or physical assault occurred between the smuggler and the excise team. "The smuggler remains unidentified and Vishambharpur police station is conducting an investigation to track down him," the SP added. Encounter in Chhattisgarh: Security forces foil Maoists' ambush in Bastar; arms seized
RAIPUR: A late-night gun battle broke out between Maoists and security forces in Kondagaon district in Bastar division on Friday with an exchange of fire lasting for several minutes that left a villager injured. The condition of the village was stated to be stable and he was receiving treatment at a hospital. Security forces have recovered country-made weapons, Maoist uniforms and literature from the site of the encounter. According to Kondagaon SP Y Akshay Kumar, the encounter took place at Kohkameta village forest in Keshkal. There were specific inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Kanhargaon area and acting on the input, SP directed a joint anti-Maoist operation involving security personnel from Bastar Fighters, District Reserve Guard, and CRPF. Around late night, the security forces came under heavy fire from 10–12 armed Maoists who had laid an ambush. The insurgents, equipped with sophisticated automatic weapons, opened indiscriminate fire with the intent to loot weapons and inflict casualties on the security personnel, said officials. The joint team retaliated, leading to Maoists retreating into forests taking cover of dense trees and darkness. Police said that a villager who was in the nearby region inadvertently came under cross- firing and suffered a bullet injury. He was evacuated and rushed to a local hospital and later referred to Kondagaon district hospital. During a subsequent search of the encounter site, forces recovered two country-made firearms, Maoist uniforms, propaganda literature, bags and medicines. These items, officials said, indicate that the Maoists had been camping in the area and were preparing for an attack.
