Govender added that their endeavour is not only for the public that comes to the temple but also to feed those in need of food, charity, and assistance. 'We distribute maize meal, rice, oil, as well as large quantities of pumpkin, cabbage, and bread, including a generous donation of 120 loaves to these homes. 'This giving is not just a once-a-year event; it happens throughout the year, carried out with love and respect for all the homes we support. We thank all our patrons and donors who make this possible. This is how we give back to our community.' The festival featured not only prayers but also the serving of cooked food, which was prepared on-site and distributed immediately to the homes in need. In addition, the temple assembled food packs containing staples such as maize meal, rice, oil, flour, and other non-perishable goods to provide long-term support. Ward 109 councillor Lori Coogan praised the temple's ongoing philanthropy. 'The Buccleuch Hindu Temple runs an amazing community service. Whenever they hold prayer sessions, they prepare food not only for devotees but also for about 14 local homes, providing cooked meals and essential non-perishable items. 'This active outreach is a beautiful example of embracing culture while looking beyond oneself to help those less fortunate.
