After nearly four years of anticipation and multiple delays, the 19.15-km Yellow Line was finally flagged off. The corridor links the city's IT hub, particularly benefiting thousands of employees working in Electronic City and is expected to ease congestion at the notorious Silk Board junction.
Mr. Modi also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains in Bengaluru, including the KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi service, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar service, and the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune service. He later laid the foundation stone for Namma Metro Phase 3, at the IIIT-B auditorium in Electronics City.

Modi to lay foundation stone of first PM MITRA Park in Dhar
Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on Aug 25 to perform 'Bhoomi Pujan' of the country's first PM MITRA Park at Badnawar in Dhar district. Announcing this, chief minister Mohan Yadav said that while other states are still in the initial preparatory stage for their PM MITRA Parks, Madhya Pradesh will be holding the groundbreaking ceremony for the park at Dhar on August 25. Yadav said this has been made possible through continuous coordination with the central government. The chief minister emphasised that once completed, the PM MITRA Park will give a major boost to the development of the entire Malwa region. The Dhar district area is poised to become the second large industrial hub after Pithampur. The park will benefit cotton producing farmers in the region and generate around 300,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs. Badnawar will also become part of the Indore Metropolitan City Area, gaining access to metropolitan facilities. Investors and companies setting up industries here will be provided with four-lane roads, rail connectivity, and air links. Yadav reviewed preparations via video conferencing for the Prime Minister's visit, the 'Bhoomi Pujan' ceremony and the public meeting with the Indore Commissioner and Dhar Collector on Sunday night. He instructed that special arrangements be made, ensuring the participation of local farmers and smooth transport for attendees from different districts. At the venue, a waterproof dome will be set up, featuring a stage for VVIPs, adequate seating arrangements, drinking water facilities, and well-organised logistics. He emphasised convenient access routes, including alternate roads and necessary repairs. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). India fastest growing economy in world, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India is moving fast towards becoming the third major economy in the world. The Prime Minister's comments come days after US President Donald Trump's "India a dead economy," jibe. In his address after laying the foundation stone for Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project here, worth over Rs 15,610 crore, the prime minister said Operation Sindoor demonstrated the capability to destroy terrorist hideouts deep across the border. It showed the strength to bring Pakistan, that defended the terrorists, to its knees within hours and the world witnessed this new face of India. He attributed the operation's success to the power of technology and the strength of 'Make in India' in the defence sector. The PM also flagged off 3 Vande Bharat Express trains and inaugurated the Metro Rail Yellow line, worth about Rs 7,160 crore. The launch of projects also triggered a fight for credit with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stating that the state has been spending more than the Centre on Bengaluru's metro network, "even though the project is meant to be jointly funded."

Zelenskyy urges PM Modi to limit Russian energy exports, especially oil
In a telephone conversation on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared with Prime Minister Narendra Modi his views on recent developments related to Ukraine, and said it was necessary to 'limit the export of Russian energy', particularly oil. Modi's talk with Zelenskyy followed his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, in which the two agreed to deepen bilateral ties. The Modi-Putin conversation came two days after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to impose a 25 per cent penalty on India for its purchase of Russian crude oil. Putin and Trump are set to meet at a summit in Alaska on August 15, a meeting India has welcomed. 'This meeting holds the promise of bringing to an end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and opening up the prospects for peace,' India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday. 'As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said on several occasions, 'This is not an era of war',' it said. India, therefore, endorses the upcoming summit meeting and stands ready to support these efforts, the MEA added. 'The PM reiterated India's commitment to extend all possible support in this regard,' the MEA said. The leaders also reviewed progress in the India-Ukraine bilateral partnership and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They agreed to remain in touch, the MEA added. Zelenskyy said he discussed 'in detail' important issues with Modi, including 'bilateral cooperation and the overall diplomatic situation'. 'I am grateful to the prime minister for his warm words of support for our people,' he said. He also stressed the need to 'limit the export of Russian energy', particularly oil. 'We also discussed in detail the sanctions against Russia. I noted that it is necessary to limit the export of Russian energy, particularly oil, to reduce its potential and ability to finance the continuation of this war,' he said. 'It is important that every leader who has tangible leverage over Russia sends the corresponding signals to Moscow.' The Ukrainian President added, 'It is important that India is supporting our peace efforts and shares the position that everything concerning Ukraine must be decided with Ukraine's participation. Other formats will not deliver results.' 'Glad to speak with President Zelenskyy and hear his perspectives on recent developments. I conveyed India's consistent position on the need for an early and peaceful resolution of the conflict,' Modi said. 'India remains committed to making every possible contribution in this regard, as well as to further strengthening bilateral ties with Ukraine,' he said in a social media post. On Friday, Putin had briefed Modi on the latest developments concerning Ukraine, and the Prime Minister had reiterated India's consistent position for a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
