Anti-drug awareness programme held at Sultan-ul-Uloom jr college
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) conducted an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme at Sultan-ul-Uloom Junior College, Banjara Hills. The initiative aimed to educate students on the dangers of narcotic substances and to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
During the programme, Y V S Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Task Force/H-NEW, addressed the gathering. He enlightened the students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and provided guidance on how to avoid such influences within educational institutions.
The DCP explained how drug abuse can jeopardise students' bright futures and highlighted the legal consequences they may face. Additionally, the DCP advised students against falling prey to drugs and urged them to avoid friendships that encourage substance abuse.
Dr Anupama Koneru, In-Charge and Principal, along with the management of Sultan-ul-Uloom Junior College, Banjara Hills, appreciated the initiative of the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW). Delhi Police inspector, accomplice held for ‘seeking Rs 30 lakh bribe' from complainant
A Delhi Police inspector was arrested along with an accomplice for allegedly seeking a bribe of Rs 30 lakh from a complainant for doing her a 'favour' during the investigation of her case, the police said Tuesday. The two accused were subsequently sent to police custody for a day. The Delhi Police's vigilance unit cracked down on the accused, Jitendra Singh Yadav, Inspector (Investigation), Greater Kailash police station, after one of his accomplices, Dharamveer, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1 lakh from the complainant, officers said. Dharamveer was allegedly posing as Yadav's lawyer and moving the cash on his behalf. The complainant approached the vigilance unit on Monday, stating that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against her and her husband at the Greater Kailash police station. According to Anyesh Roy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Vigilance, the complainant said that Yadav, the investigating officer (IO), demanded a bribe from her for doing them a 'favour' in the case. 'After bargaining, the bribe amount was settled at Rs 30 lakh. The complainant further said that Inspector Yadav directed her to pay the bribe amount to Dharamveer, who presented himself as an advocate,' the DCP said. A team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vigilance, was formed on Monday, and a trap was laid, officers said, adding that Dharamveer accepted the bribe from the complainant on Yadav's behalf. As soon as the cash changed hands, the police nabbed Dharmveer. 'Later investigation revealed that Dharamveer is not a registered legal practitioner and was falsely presenting himself as an advocate. After completing all procedures, an FIR was registered at the vigilance police station under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Inspector Yadav and Dharamveer were arrested and are now in police remand,' DCP Roy said.

‘Playboy job promise cost him Rs 27,000': Duped in gigolo job scam, Delhi man starts running own gang

Tempted, he called the number given, and soon found himself paying a barrage of bogus fees for registration, cab, hotel, massage kit, etc. After paying Rs 27,135, he realised he'd been conned. He filed a complaint, which led the Central district's cyber police team to arrest two men running the racket. The accused were 25-year-old Himanshu and 19-year-old Vishal. The racket, which was being operated from Nangloi, was targeting job-seeking men with false promises of high-paying playboy assignments. During interrogation, the duo confessed to deliberately preying on male individuals, They believed that male victims would never report it. A case was registered and a police team led by inspector Sandeep Panwar and supervised by ACP Suresh Khunga was formed.
