Man dies after car crashes into pole, overturns in Tawau

By: Lagatah Toyos Text Size: Firefighters at the scene - Pic by JBPM TAWAU: A man died after he was trapped in his car following a self-accident involving a collision with an electricity pole at Kampung Jawa, Jalan Dr Yamamoto, early Sunday morning. Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Jemishin Ujin said the 32-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel. He said a team of 10 firefighters and two engines were dispatched to the location immediately after receiving an emergency call via Mers999 at 5.13am. The accident involved a Proton Satria believed to have skidded before crashing into the pole and overturning. Beaufort teacher found safe after going missing in buffalo search

BEAUFORT: A teacher from SK Padang Berempah, Ag Kujai Wahab, 52, who went missing while searching for his buffaloes on Thursday morning, was found safe on Friday afternoon. District Fire and Rescue Station chief Ishak Jabas said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched with the help of police and local villagers. Advertisement The victim was reported missing by his family after he failed to return from the Nabahan Weston area, where he had gone to look for his buffaloes. The fire team travelled by boat from the Weston jetty to Kampung Nabahan and established an incident command post to coordinate the operation. Police seek eight individuals linked to criminal cases

Unemployed man jailed six years for beating teenage son with stick

Shahmar Asecio pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim to causing hurt to his 16-year-old son at a house in Kampung Baitam Laut, Membakut, on 2 June. Advertisement The court heard Shahmar struck his son on the shoulder, head and right leg while the boy was in the kitchen, and later threatened him with a machete when the mother intervened. The incident led the frightened boy to lodge a police report, and Shahmar was arrested the same day.
