The confident, percussion-heavy track pulled in nearly 70% of the vote, outpacing new music from Sabrina Carpenter ('Manchild'), Ed Sheeran ('Sapphire'), KATSEYE featuring Ice Spice ('Gnarly' remix), Addison Rae (Addison) and Lil Wayne (Tha Carter VI).
'Type Dangerous' marks Mimi's first proper single in years, and it arrives with all the signature flair Lambs have come to expect. 'Looking for the dangerous type,' Carey croons. 'I like them dangerous/ That's my type/ I said I love them dangerous.'
The five-time Grammy winner last released an album in 2018 with Caution, which reached at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. In the days leading up to the new single's release, Carey teased fans on social media with a glamorous clip of herself in a luxury car, soundtracked by a mystery song. The video also showed a license plate reading 'MC16' — a possible hint at her 16th studio album.
Since Caution, Carey has kept busy with annual 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' celebrations, as well as anniversary reissues of her most iconic work. Most recently, she marked the 20th anniversary of The Emancipation of Mimi with an expanded two-disc set featuring remixes, bonus tracks and a cappella versions.
Coming in second in the poll was Carpenter's 'Manchild,' which earned 19% of the vote. The track is her first new release since the deluxe edition of Short n' Sweet dropped in February.

MGK Gifts His Daughter Casie a New Car at MGK Day: ‘Don't Drive Like Me'
Some people's dream car is a Lamborghini, others may want a Maybach, but MGK's daughter, Casie Baker, had her eye on an Acura. MGK Day in Cleveland wasn't just all about the artist (formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly) on Sunday (Aug. 10), as Kells surprised Casie with her dream car, an Acura TLX, just a couple of weeks after celebrating her 16th birthday in July. More from Billboard MGK Reveals What Taylor Swift Said to Him While Watching the Chiefs Lose the 2025 Super Bowl MGK Got Songwriting Assist From Ex Megan Fox on 'Lost Americana' Track About the Most Tragic Love Story of All Time MGK Searches for 'Lost Americana' on New Album Cosigned by Bob Dylan: Stream It Now Footage of the heartwarming moment went viral on social media, while Casie seemed genuinely surprised at the gift when the black car rolled up with a red bow on it, as she jumped into her dad's arms. Before she hopped behind the driver's seat, MGK had one special rule for Casie to follow: Don't drive like the musician. 'What's the No. 1 rule?' he asked, to which Casie swiftly replied, 'Don't drive like your dad.' MGK nodded in approval and said, 'Exactly — don't drive like me.' All that's left for Casie is to pass her upcoming driving test to secure a license. But the teen wasn't the only member of the family to receive a surprise on Sunday. At halftime of the Celebrity Shootout basketball game, MGK was presented with a guitar featuring a portrait his face that will forever live in the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. It was yet another epic MGK Day weekend for the multi-genre artist and his fans. MGK capped off the memorable weekend with a headlining performance on the Mall C lawn, debuting tracks from his new album, Lost Americana, for the attendance. Beyond ‘Showgirl': Taylor Swift's Biggest Revelations on Falling for Travis Kelce & More on ‘New Heights'
Taylor Swift finally made her debut on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast after two years of dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on Wednesday (Aug. 13), making for a sprawling conversation about life, love, new music, sourdough bread and more. More from Billboard Taylor Swift's Debut on Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' Podcast Instantly Smashes Ratings Records 'The City Loves Him': Inside MGK's Emotional Homecoming, As Cleveland Celebrates MGK Day and His 'Lost Americana' Album Jussie Smollett's 2019 Attack Gets Investigated in Upcoming Netflix Documentary: Watch the Trailer Undoubtedly the biggest topic covered on the show was The Life of a Showgirl, Swift's 12th studio album arriving Oct. 3. After revealing the LP's existence and title via a New Heights teaser clip the day prior to the episode's premiere, the 14-time Grammy winner divulged more details about the Max Martin- and Shellback-produced full-length — which features a Sabrina Carpenter duet — while speaking with the Kelce brothers. 'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [the Eras Tour],' she shared. '[The album is] a lot more upbeat, and it's a lot more fun pop excitement. My main goals were melodies that were so infectious, you're almost angry at it.' 'We've made songs that I'm so proud of,' she added of herself and her production team. 'We've never actually made an album before where it was just the three of us, there's no other collaborators. It felt like catching lightning in a bottle.' But while Swift's revelations about The Life of a Showgirl were certainly the splashiest, fans were also treated to nearly two hours of the musician opening up about her personal life, falling in love with Travis, reclaiming her masters, pulling of the historic Eras Tour and so much more. Keep reading to see the biggest non-album takeaways from Swift's New Heights debut below. 1. Taylor's Reaction to Travis' 'Man Tantrum' For years now, fans have known the tale of how Travis wooed Taylor — professing his crush on her on New Heights after failing to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it at a Kansas City Eras Tour show — but on the podcast, Swift finally shared her side of the story. 'You realize he didn't even reach out to our management,' Swift said, laughing at Travis' prior claim that he was 'butthurt' about not getting to meet her that night after the show, which she lovingly referred to as a 'man tantrum.' 'When this podcast came out, I was like, 'Did he ever reach out to be, like, in the tents, or did we know he was in the building?' He came with [Patrick Mahomes], and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.' That said, Swift thought his confession on the podcast was super romantic. 'It felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?'' She added: 'I was like, 'If this guy's not crazy, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'' 2. First Date With Travis One of the cutest revelations came when Swift opened up about one of the first conversations she had with Travis. 'On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the field across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing … five feet in front of him on the field.' 'Like, I now know what an insane question that was,' she continued, gushing that Travis was so 'non-judgmental' about her not knowing the basic rules of football. 'He was like, 'Actually, I'm on the offense, and my brother's on the offense, and I'm only on the field at the same time as the defense.' I thought everyone was on the field at the same time.' Later on, Travis also shared his own first impressions of the pop star. 'To see you on the stage, and to see how crazy you can get an entire stadium going, then I get you in a room and it's like I've known you forever,' he said, making Swift swoon. 'It was the easiest conversation I've ever had … it knocked my socks off. She blew me away, and I'd never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and then so real and so beautiful in person.' 3. Taylor's a Total Football Fan Now Though she may not have known much about football before, Swift says she totally 'fell in love' with the game soon after she started dating Travis. 'I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!'' the musician said. 'My friends are like, 'Who body-snatched you? What do you mean?'' 'Tay's not f–king around,' Travis said of his superstar girlfriend's newfound interest, adding that he loved how curious she was about the sport when they first started their relationship. 4. Reclaiming Her Masters One of the most emotional parts of the podcast was when Swift recalled how she found out she'd reclaimed ownership of her master recordings, a deal that she revealed was brokered with previous owner Shamrock Holdings by her mom, Andrea, and brother, Austin. When Andrea called with the good news, Taylor said she 'literally hit the floor' and was 'bawling my eyes out, just weeping.' After tearfully sharing the news with Travis, who said she collapsed like 'dead weight' in his arms, Taylor shared that one of the first people she called was Phoebe Bridgers. 'Yeah, this changed my life,' she added on New Heights. 'I can't believe it, still.' 5. Life Post-Eras Tour While Swift says she misses seeing her fans on the Eras Tour, she's relieved not to be touring anymore after pushing her body to the limit for two years straight on the road. 'It feels great,' she said on the podcast of now having time off, noting that she was in a 'perpetual state of physical discomfort' during the run. 'I learned so much about how far I can push myself,' she continued, adding that she learned to perform through the discomfort of having the stomach flu, blisters and aching feet 'usually all at the same time.' Swift says she's also been able to lean back into her hobbies, from sewing to baking — currently, she's deep into an 'obsession' with finding the perfect sourdough recipe. 6. Taking Care of Dad Scott Also on New Heights, Swift shared an update on her dad, Scott, following his quintuple bypass to treat five blockages in his heart earlier this year. When the news first came out about his procedure in July, a rep for the singer told Billboard that the stockbroker was doing 'fantastic.' 'He came out of surgery, tried to give guitar picks to all the nurses and doctors, but he wasn't wearing pants, didn't have pockets, hospital gown, you know?' Taylor said, revealing that she and her brother and mom took turns staying with Scott in the hospital. 'It was kind of wild, because it was like, very parent-child reversal in a lot of ways. I'm like, this dude built play sets and swing sets and cribs for me. I'm building his shower chair and his walker.' 7. Dealing With Tayvis Mania During the episode, both the pop star and Travis addressed how they've dealt with the whirlwind of public interest in their relationship — including any hate they might receive. 'I've been in the music industry for 20 years — it's kind of hard to hurt my feelings at this point,' Swift said, shrugging. 'She's a pro,' Travis agreed, noting that he learned from his girlfriend how to deal with fame. 'There's still some wacko theories from the beginning that I was like, 'Oh no, how is she handling this?' Her being so calm, cool and collected … really made me grow up real fast.' Swift said that she's also learned from her partner how to navigate hate. 'The fact that you genuinely find a lot of online discourse to be truly hilarious, that's changed things for me,' she said to Travis. 'That's completely bled into the way that I metabolize these things. … Think of your energy as if it's expensive, like it's a luxury item. Not everyone can afford it.' ‘The City Loves Him': Inside MGK's Emotional Homecoming, As Cleveland Celebrates MGK Day and His ‘Lost Americana' Album
'I think, truly, there were two destiny lines,' MGK tells Billboard outside of a hotel in downtown Cleveland. 'And one of those destiny lines was that this ended a long time ago.' The year did not start off promisingly for the multi-hyphenate star: MGK spent Christmas and New Year's in solitude at a rehabilitation center, where he was only afforded 15-minute phone calls with his teenage daughter. Seven months later, however, he has rebuilt himself, after recording an album in his living room with his longtime friends. Today, he is far from over — he is celebrating a weekend in the city dedicated to him. More from Billboard Taylor Swift's Debut on Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' Podcast Instantly Smashes Ratings Records For Artists Like Sombr and Gigi Perez, Self-Producing Is 'An Experiment and an Adventure' Lana Del Rey Shares New Song Snippet Dissing Ethel Cain: 'Most Famous Girl at the Waffle House' 'For whatever reason, our wheels got on the right rail,' he continues, 'and we kept riding this motherf—r to whatever destination we're at now.' With his newly released Lost Americana album — a free-spirited petri dish of alt-pop, heartland rock, punk and hip-hop — MGK has extended his artistry, with his first album made completely sober. In addition to celebrating its release last Friday (Aug. 8), MGK also kicked off his annual MGK Day weekend in Cleveland, giving back to the city that raised him. Backstage at XXCon, following an acoustic set from MGK, the Terminal Tower across from Jacobs Pavilion — a building where Kells once worked in an airbrush store with dreams of rap stardom — is lit up in Lost Americana red. He recalls performing at the same venue in front of 20 people, which he now sells out in minutes. 'They actually got to see him grow and see him rapping outside airbrush stores,' says MGK's right-hand producer SlimXX. 'Back then, nobody knew us, so we couldn't get in anywhere, so we'd play in the parking lot. That's why, when we pull up out here, it's a million people, because everyone feels like they're a part of it. The city loves him. Everybody feels like a big family.' MGK moves and a crowd of people follows — a popular theme for the weekend. He's hosting a karaoke afterparty at his 27 Club Coffee shop, and in the chaos of fans performing MGK's hits or belting Backstreet Boys anthems, Kells' creative fuse is lit as he throws on a pair of wired headphones and attempts to finish a verse for an upcoming track, hiding in plain sight in the corner. The main takeaway from MGK Day weekend is MGK's accessibility. There is nary a barrier separating him from fans at many of the events, as he walks among the people as their hometown superhero. 'I feel like one of the last artists [that's] of the people,' he says. 'Because I don't do the mysterious lore, I don't dissociate and not let them in.' Beyond the countless selfie and hug requests, some interactions are much heavier. One fan vulnerably admits that MGK's music prevented her from committing suicide. Kells also receives a Navy SEAL patch from a soldier, who credits his catalog with helping him get through deployment. He credits The Land with helping him stay grounded. 'That's just why I stay outside,' he explains. 'I like it because s—t happens out here. I also know what it's like to watch my favorite artists lose their edge. I will die before I [lose it]. I feel like it's my job to be unscripted, controversial and walk around with one hand ready to shake someone's hand, and the other hand with the middle finger.' Day two of the weekend brings Street League Skateboarding's SLS Championship tour to Cleveland, with skating legend Ryan Sheckler entering the party. Sheckler, who has been friends with MGK since they were 17, adds to his ink with a Lost Americana tattoo. Sheckler and Kells have used the parallels in their turbulent journeys in the spotlight to lean on one another, making their bond stronger over the years. 'It's been rad watching both of our journeys from going too hard, figuring it out, calming down and being dads,' Sheckler explains. 'It's been fun watching him grow. He's always supported me, I support him.' Many of the people who grew up around MGK are still on his team to this day. Andre 'Dre' Cisco, who hails from the same neighborhood as Kells, has served as MGK's manager for the last eight years. 'People in Cleveland are special and have a light fighting through a lot of hardships, and I think Kells embodies that,' Dre says. 'That's why they connect with him so much and root for him, and it's reciprocated by him because he roots for them. We love Cleveland, as a group, and it represents everything we stand for.' Sunday (Aug. 10) is MGK Day, and it is a marathon. Kells surprises his 16-year-old daughter, Casie, with her dream car, a brand new Acura TLX. But before forking over the keys, he has one specific request: 'Don't drive like me.' Embracing his Wild Hogs side, Kells hops on a Harley Davidson and leads 2,000 bikers from across Ohio on an epic motorcycle ride into Downtown Cleveland on the balmy Sunday afternoon. The 35-year-old heads from his Harley to the hardwood, where he throws some shorts over his jeans to suit up for the Celebrity Shootout basketball game, which includes former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, ex-Cleveland Brown star Joe Haden and professional streetballer 'The Professor.' Then, Cleveland mayor Justin M. Bibb presents Kells with a 10-foot guitar featuring artwork of his face that will live in the halls of the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport forever. Less than two hours later, 30,000 fans gather on the Mall C lawn for Kells' free performance. With co-signs from Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger in his back pocket, MGK delivers a riveting 25-track set that lasts well over an hour and spans his discography. He invites superfan 'Machine Gun Emily' onstage to perform 'Alpha Omega' — it goes better than 99 percent of the usual fan-rapping moments — and says he'll be announcing a tour in September, along with releasing a pack of songs celebrating the 5-year anniversary of Tickets to My Downfall. Along with a stripped-down version of 2020's 'My Bloody Valentine' Kells weaves in and out of Lost Americana cuts like 'Vampire Diaries' and the Third Eye Blind-sampling 'Starman.' 'This will be the one where I feel like on the day of my funeral, my fans can press play on this and have a different understanding of why I was writing these words, and feel a different type of connection with it,' he says of the new album, in between cigarettes. At one point in the show, Kells responds to a headline from a recent New York Times article claiming he 'doesn't want to be cool anymore.' 'I think I've finally given grace to the press of just being like, maybe I'm just not one to be loved by the media,' he suggests. 'As long as I'm loved by the people, which I witness in my everyday life over and over again.' MGK believes the press will ultimately come around. '[There will] be people that champion this s—t in the media one day, but I'm okay with [being] me,' he says. 'They keep making the name more relevant. They keep making the conversation louder.' MGK Day is also a reunion for the rapper-turned-rocker, who reconnects with a pair of friends for the first time since they finished serving decade-long prison bids. 'I was super fulfilled,' he says, 'for them to get to see me in this light, because I'm not the same artist I was 10 years ago or 17 years ago. So for them to come out and be like, 'Damn bro, the little homie just glowed up.'' It's a poetic finish to the weekend's headlining performance, with fireworks lighting up the Cleveland skyline following MGK's single 'Cliche.' Taking it all in, Kells is overcome with emotion, and appears to be on the verge of tears looking into the festival crowd. Time stands still, and for once, it appears that the chaos surrounding MGK has vanished.
