Modi govt delivers fast-tracked welfare schemes, says Arjun Ram Meghwal

PATNA: Union law and justice minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Tuesday said Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's work culture is defined by the speed and impact of implementing welfare schemes during his 11 years in office.
Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Patna, alongside BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Meghwal said the central government under PM Modi had significantly enhanced the scope and efficiency of various schemes since coming to power in 2014.
"There were no dearth of schemes earlier also, but PM Modi laid emphasis on the welfare of the poor. It is reflected in the fact that more than 25 crore people have come out of the poverty line due to the successful implementation of the govt schemes," Meghwal said.
He added, "Earlier, it used to take more than 15 years to complete a project, but now PM lays the foundation stone and also inaugurates it. The number of airports in India has doubled and now even poor people have started traveling by airplane. This change is the result of Modiji's leadership. He has made more than 100 policies so far."
The minister also cited landmark decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and claimed that India has emerged as the world's fourth-largest economy due to the Modi govt's economic policies.

Later in the day, Meghwal inaugurated an exhibition at the BJP state headquarters celebrating 11 years of "service, good governance and welfare of the poor" under the NDA govt.
"This is not just an exhibition, but a living saga of 11 years of development journey, good governance and public service of the NDA govt under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji," he posted on X.

There have been two lakh cyber attacks on the power sector in India during 'Operation Sindoor'. In the first such confirmation of massive cyber attacks during India-Pakistan clashes, the government today said all the attacks were foiled and the power system is working perfectly. The mission was named 'Operation Sindoor' - a codename to avenge the widows of the April 22 attack, wherein 26 civilians - all men - were killed in cold blood by terrorists linked to an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The precision terror strikes on terror launch pads were met with Pakistani aggression. The Pakistani military tried to target several cities in India using drones and other munitions, which were "repulsed" by the Indian forces. After four days of fighting, India and Pakistan reached an agreement to stop firing on May 10. Within hours, however, the deal was breached by Pakistan. It was responded to with a stern warning by the Armed Forces the next day: "India would retaliate fiercely to any violation in future".

BJP criticises ASI's ‘attitude'
Hosapete (Vijayanagara): BJP MLC KS Naveen Kumar stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), operating under the central govt's ministry of tourism, functions autonomously and often disregards central directives. He was speaking at a press conference on Thursday, while discussing the Modi govt's 11-year achievements. "Consequently, the expected progress in monument preservation and infrastructure development in various areas of the state, including Hampi, did not occur," he stated. "The same issue can be seen not only in Hampi but also in Chitradurga and other regions. Even constructing a toilet is not done swiftly. The ASI is in a position where it is not heeding anyone's requests. The party will strive to address this oversight in the upcoming days," Naveen Kumar assured. Highlighting the performance comparison between govts, he pointed out substantial differences in outcomes during the UPA tenure of 2004-14 versus the NDA period of 2014-24. Employment generation increased from 2 crore to 17 crore positions. The inflation rate dropped from 8.2% to 5%. The proportion of people in extreme poverty declined from 29.2% to 11.3%. Additionally, the count of income tax returns submissions went up from 3.9 crore to 9.2 crore, he claimed. "Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, and no other wealthy individual had their loans waived.
