Activist Fahmi Reza claims he was barred from entering Sabah
KUALA LUMPUR: Graphic artist and activist Fahmi Reza claimed he was denied entry into Sabah upon arriving at Kota Kinabalu International Airport and was sent back to Kuala Lumpur.
In a series of Instagram postings, Fahmi shared a notice that appeared to be issued by the Sabah Immigration Department, stating that the barring was made under Section 65(1)(a) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The Act allows Sabah authorities to deny entry at their discretion.
The notice, dated today at 11.30am, was addressed to Fahmi by name.
"The State Authority has directed that no pass be issued to you to enter the State of Sabah, and such a pass is required under Section 66 of the Immigration Act 1959/63," the notice read.
Late last year, Fahmi was remanded under the Sedition Act after police received reports that he had pasted caricatures involving the image of Tun Musa Aman, who was to be appointed as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah at the time, in several areas, including Kota Kinabalu.
A 40-second video that went viral showed Fahmi pasting the caricature in a location in Kota Kinabalu.

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is also being manipulated through clickbait phishing campaigns. Cybercriminals replicate exclusive concert ticket offers or fake product launches — such as new iPhones or event pre-orders — luring victims into revealing credentials or downloading malware. Meanwhile, the revival of Y2K fashion and interest in early-2000s games has exposed Gen Z to threats via counterfeit downloads. Fake versions of nostalgic titles like The Sims 2 and Bratz Rock Angelz are being embedded with malicious software, compromising users' devices. Fast fashion platforms have also become hotspots for phishing schemes. The popularity of retailers such as Shein and Fashion Nova is being mimicked through scam websites and fake promo codes, designed to harvest financial and personal data under the guise of limited-time offers. Beyond consumerism, the rising use of mental health apps among Gen Z — driven by digital dependency and stress-related conditions such as iDisorder — presents another risk. These platforms store highly sensitive personal data that, if breached, could be exploited for phishing or blackmail. Kaspersky advises users to verify links before clicking, avoid oversharing online, and ensure strong password hygiene with two-factor authentication. Court to hear Muhyiddin's reference bid on August 28

(Bernama pic) Kuala Lumpur: The High Court here will hear Muhyiddin Yassin's bid to refer legal questions to the apex court on the validity of certain provisions under the Sedition Act on Aug 28. The former prime minister is accused of making seditious statements during the Nenggiri by-election in Gua Musang, Kelantan, last year. Justice Jamil Hussin fixed the date after lawyer Joshua Tay, appearing for Muhyiddin, told the court that the defence and prosecution had agreed on the date. The court then instructed the prosecution and defence to file their submissions by Aug 14. Deputy public prosecutor Razali Che Ani appeared for the prosecution. Muhyiddin allegedly said he was not invited by the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong to be sworn in as prime minister following the 2022 general election, despite having obtained the majority support of 115 MPs. If found guilty, the Perikatan Nasional chairman and Bersatu president will face a jail term that could extend to three years or a maximum fine of RM5,000. Muhyiddin was initially charged at the Gua Musang sessions court in August last year. 238 undocumented migrants nabbed in Sandakan immigration crackdown
SANDAKAN: The Immigration Department in Sabah detained 238 undocumented migrants out of 480 individuals inspected during an overnight enforcement operation at four locations here today. State Immigration director Datuk Sh Sitti Saleha Habib Yusof said the raids, carried out from 1.30 am to noon, targeted squatter settlements in Batu 8 and Batu 10, a construction site and a timber factory. 'Those detained were found to have committed various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963,' she told reporters here today. Sh Sitti Saleha said the operations, involving 71 immigration officers, identified offences including lack of valid identification documents, overstaying and misuse of passes among the undocumented migrants. 'In the first five months of this year, 13,850 individuals were inspected, with 2,730 undocumented migrants detained,' she said. Sh Sitti Saleha said 53 employers were also charged for hiring illegal migrants during that period.
