The destination is expected to debut in summer 2028 on undeveloped land next to the Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower. It will include fighter jet simulations and other immersive experiences, as well as a bar with live piano singalongs. Presumably revelers at Top Gun: Maverick's Hard Deck restaurant will be able to belt out You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' as Tom Cruise and his co-stars famously did in the first film.

Like other film and TV studios, Paramount has been looking for new ways to cash in on its well-known characters and stories. The company has been licensing the rights to Nickelodeon kids shows, for example, to hotel and amusement park operators.

The first Top Gun was the highest grossing movie of 1986 and helped establish Cruise as an action star. The actor, now 62, reprised his role as a Navy fighter pilot in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick, which took in nearly $1.5 billion in ticket sales globally. Cruise has another big picture, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, hitting theaters on Friday. It's also being released by Paramount.

Advent Allen was founded by Mark Advent, who helped design the New York-New York casino in Las Vegas, and Bill Allen, former chief executive officer of Bloomin' Brands Inc., a restaurant chain that includes Outback Steakhouse.

Tom Cruise scores Guinness World Record for most burning parachute jumps
Social Sharing Tom Cruise has soared his way to a new stunt accolade: according to Guinness World Records, he has now performed the most burning parachute jumps by a single person. This specific feat was achieved during the filming of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, the latest instalment of the action franchise that has become defined by Cruise's jaw-dropping stunts. Sixteen times in a row, Cruise leaped out of a helicopter and plummeted toward the ground strapped to a flaming parachute. As the character Ethan Hunt, Cruise has performed a number of eye-popping feats since the first Mission: Impossible film, including clinging to an airplane as it was taking off, scaling the tallest building in the world and driving a motorcycle off a cliff before parachuting to safety. In 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Cruise became the first actor to complete something called a HALO (high altitude, low opening) drop on camera, which involved jumping out of a plane and freefalling thousands of metres before deploying a parachute. Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, said Cruise didn't just "play action heroes" but was one himself, in a release about the new record. Cruise is known for his insistence on performing the stunts himself. "A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do," Glenday stated. Before each jump, the parachute would be soaked in fuel so that Cruise would be able to light it on fire mid-jump, according to a behind-the-scenes video of how the team set up the stunt. "I have to kick out of the twist, and then ignite, within 10 seconds," Cruise says in the video. Once the chute had burned up, Cruise would cut the lines free and activate a backup chute to glide safely to the ground. But since the parachute material burned so quickly, disappearing in a matter of seconds, they needed to perform the jump multiple times to get enough footage for the scene: sixteen times, to be exact. Guinness World Records didn't specify if Cruise had to surpass anyone to get the record, although the organization noted that "no other actor or stuntman has come close" to that number. Patti LuPone's drama is dividing the Broadway community ahead of the Tony Awards

The actress sparked a major backlash after disparaging comments she made about fellow Broadway stars Kecia Lewis and Audra McDonald in a recent interview with the New Yorker. LuPone referred to Lewis as a 'b**ch' and said McDonald was 'not a friend.' Hundreds of performers from Broadway and other theater communities then wrote a letter in which they characterized LuPone's comments as 'degrading and misogynistic—it is a blatant act of racialized disrespect.' 'It constitutes bullying. It constitutes harassment,' they wrote. 'It is emblematic of the microaggressions and abuse that people in this industry have endured for far too long, too often without consequence.' The group called for LuPone to be disinvited from industry events, including Sunday's Tony Awards. LuPone apologized last weekend on social media, posting a statement in which she said she hoped to be able to speak with the pair to make 'sincere apologies.' But not everyone feels harshly towards her. Actress Mia Farrow has garned a Tony nomination for the Broadway play 'The Roommate' in which she costars with LuPone. In a recently published interview with Deadline, Farrow talked about her 30-year friendship with the woman she dubbed the 'goddess of Broadway.' 'We live near each other. Always have. Billy Joel documentary reveals he attempted suicide twice and was in a coma after affair with friend's wife
Warning: This article contains mentions of suicidal ideation. Discretion advised. Billy Joel at one point wanted to 'end it all,' according to the documentary 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes.' The new film, which premiered at Tribeca Festival in New York City this week, revisits the some of the singer's struggles, including two suicide attempts following an affair with his bandmate's wife, according to People. The first part of the documentary told the story of the Joel being in the band Attila with his best friend Jon Small, whom Joel eventually went to live with in a home occupied by Small, his wife Elizabeth Weber and their son. Weber reportedly said in the film that there was a 'slow burn' between her and Joel. Joel said he 'felt very, very guilty' about their resulting affair, which ended in a fight and the band splitting after he confessed to Small that he was in love with Weber. 'They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker,' Joel told the filmmakers. 'I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose, which I deserved. Jon was very upset. I was very upset.' Weber left and Joel said he spiraled into drinking, became homeless and was 'depressed I think to the point of almost being psychotic,' he recalled. 'I figured, 'That's it. I don't want to live anymore.' I was just in a lot of pain and it was sort of like why hang out, tomorrow is going to be just like today is and today sucks,' he said. 'So, I just thought I'd end it all.' His sister, Judy Molinari, was a medical assistant at the time and gave him sleeping pills, which Joel took all of and ended up in the hospital in a coma for days. 'I went to go see him in the hospital, and he was laying there white as a sheet,' she said in the film. 'I thought that I'd killed him.' He drank a bottle of cleaning fluid the second suicide attempt, Joel said, and ironically it was Small who took him to the hospital. 'Even though our friendship was blowing up, Jon saved my life,' Joel said. He sought help, which Joel said helped him channel his emotions into his music that has brought him success. Years later, Joel and Weber reconnected and married from 1973 to 1982. She still has admiration for him and has been supportive as the superstar musician recently cancelled tour dates to seek treatment for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition that affects the brain. 'He's worked so hard all of his life,' she told E! News at the premiere. 'I've never known anybody who worked harder than he did in all those years we were together and working together.' 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' is set to air on HBO in July.
